Trucking News with Ruthann http://bit.ly/CDLlife1Trucking News with Ruthann. This week Ruthann spoke about ELD's and how they are effecting drivers. Did you know that ELD's although have flaws but could be a good thing? At this time this writer believes they are not so good! Electronic Log Devices have really turned the Trucking Industry upside down. A truck driver clocks in and then is obligated to race the clock. He/she is not really in control of their work day anymore. Here is an example of what we are talking about. Again an example. Say a driver is not feeling so well and has a hard time getting rest for the night. Say he is up all night because he just can't sleep, maybe stomach wasn't feeling well maybe he had a bad headache, whatever but he could not sleep. It is not 6am and he needs to get moving. The good news is his headache is gone or the stomach is feeling better so he clocks in and starts his day. About 4 hours into the run he is very very tired and needs sleep. If he pulls in and sleeps he wil

Trucking Scares the PublicTrucking Scares the Public because people are uncertain of the power that is running beside them. The average person when asked, does not understand how an 18 wheeler works. All they know is the sound and the presents of a force that big is very frightening! Mix that with the videos and pictures on the internet and its enough to scare anyone. Trucking Scares the Public more than anything on the road. I guess when you are the little guy you can become intimidated real quick. A tractor trailer on average weighs 80,000 pounds and can't stop on a dime. A fully loaded semi truck takes 3 football fields to stop at 65 mph. http://talkcdl.com/compilation-of-big-rig-wreckers-uprighting-rollovers-talkcdl/ Fear is better than confidence Trucking Scares the PublicTrucking Scares the Public in more ways than one. Not only does the motoring public fear the semi trucks but it also has a fear of the truckers. Many regular drivers have a general bad opinion of the average trucker. Its unfortun

  • Captain of your Ship – What Truckers SHould KNow

    15/03/2019 Duração: 24min

Captain of the ShipCaptain of the Ship if what you are. I cant believe that drivers are actually asking if they have the right to refuse a load in bad or dangerous weather. The fact of the matter is most truck drivers do not know what their rights are. Some are under the impression that because they are employees they have to do everything a trucking company tells them. Some few for their jobs so they will never question anything they are told to do. So in this podcast we explored the question of whether a driver has the right to refuse a load in bad weather. Is there a law that protects Truckers? Captain of the ShipCaptain of the ship or employee under orders? There is a law that clearly defines whether a carrier can punish or fire a truck driver for refusing to drive in conditions that they feel are a danger to their lives. This law is called the "Surface Transportation Assistance Act" or the STAA! http://bit.ly/Trucker-RightsUnder this act your rights are clearly written. A Trucker is under no obliga

Trucking Career is better than a College DegreeTrucking is Better than a College Degree. Why do I say that? Think about it for a second. A boy goes into collage and spends about 4 to 8 years there learning. Learning a skill or a profession so that he can make a living at it. There is many reasons to go to collage. Many will take up Business, Engineering or some profession he or she is hoping will make them allot of money. But wait, theres a catch. A collage graduate will in most cases have to pay back mucho money. Thats right a collage grad will spend the next few years paying back heavy loans before he ever starts making big dollars if at all he will make big dollars. https://www.freightwaves.com/news/2017/8/5/trucking-vs-college-knowing-which-is-right-for-you Trucker Schools and Costs Trucking Career is Better than a Collage DegreeTrucking is better than a College Degree because of a million reasons. 16/02/2019 Duração: 01h18min

Ron Pratt - The Wrecker KingRon Pratt - The Wrecker King. We sat down with Ron Pratt and talked about how he has picked up hundreds if not thousands of semi trucks. When a tractor trailer rolls over in Missouri, the authorities call men like Ron Pratt to bring out their big wreckers and flip the rig back up on 18 wheels. Ron has been flipping trucks over since he was a little boy. He started working as a young boy sweeping his mom and dads garage. As he worked around the shop Ron caught the bug. The bug of heavy equipment and playing with the big toys. Ron learned and studied every chance he got about anything and everything when it came to wreckers. Ron not only does his job very well but he also loves doing what he does. Its not really a job when you love your day this much. Ron said there is never a dull moment at his job.http://talkcdl.com/trucking-news-7-killed-2-semis-two-4-wheelers/ Technical and Saftey Its called "uprighting". • Long Haul Banditz INterview

    07/02/2019 Duração: 01h13min

Long Haul Banditz Long Haul Banditz interview. We sat down with the President Sancho Gonzalez and VP Grumpy of the Long Haul Banitz to chat. Who are the Long Haul Banditz? They are a group of men and woman that are trying to reestablish the "Old School" Trucker mentality. The Brotherhood of trucking if you will. This group is on a mission and it doesn't look like they will let anything get In their way! They believe in honor and respect! Grumpy said you got to give respect to get respect. Recently the Banditz showed up at a truck stop as part as their mission. They didn't show up to pass out literature or to protest and make waves. No, instead they showed up armed with trash bags and a great attitude of leading by example. Thats right, including the president of the organization Sancho himself picking up trash. Sancho was filmed picking up "trucker bombs" AKA piss bottles thrown out of semi trucks parked in the lot. This group is trying to change the trucking mentality one mind and one place at a time and it

  • Trucker Kills Bystanders – Trucking News w/Ruthann

    05/02/2019 Duração: 33min

Trucking News Trucker Kills Bystanders. Ruthann and Troy sat down to talk about this weeks events in trucking. One of the common themes this week was accidents, accident, accidents. In one case a trucker that had hit and killed a man on the side of an interstate in Pennsylvania last year actually did it again. Thats right a trucker that was traveling on interstate 81 in PA over a year ago hit and killed a stranded motorist. at first you think "well accidents happen" and yes they do but this guy has done the sam thing. So in Ohio in a construction zone recently the same driver clipped a man standing in a construction zone and killed him. The end result? Life time suspension on his CDL.Trucker Kills Bystanders. Also the driver of a pick up truck for reasons unknown. Stopped and started to back up on an interstate. Unfortunately a driver of a semi truck was coming behind him and had no where to go but into the pick up. Of course the driver of the pick up was killed. No one wishes harm on stupidity but backing yo

  • Fight Over Truckers Dog

    25/01/2019 Duração: 30min

Fight Over Truckers DogFight over Truckers Dog. Recently a post was made on a popular trucking page. It created all kinds of arguments. A trucker took a picture of another truckers dog that was tied to a semi at a truck stop. The post maker went on to say that the trucker was wrong for tying his dog to his rig while he went into the truck stop for a shower. This post was agreed and disagreed by many, in fact the crowd seemed to be about equally divided to wether the driver should have tied the dog to a tree or maybe just walked the dog and then put him back in the cab. Many were also saying that people should mind their own business and that caused even more fighting amongst the crowd of bloggers. Was the driver right or wrong? The argument continued when TalkCDL's Troy Austin asked his co-host Ruthann what she had thought of a trucker tying his dog to his rig while he used the truck stop for a shower? She was in disagreement with the trucker because she does not believe in tying the dog outside. This i

  • Trucking NewS – Driving for the Cartel – Drivers Wanted

    15/01/2019 Duração: 33min

Trucking NewsTrucking News - Driving for the Cartel. Imagine if there was such a job description as a "Cartel Trucker". What would the qualifications be? Must have great will to not be a rat. Must be willing to do time if caught. If you snitch you will be killed. Must have mean MVR. Must be safe driver. Must be able to remain calm when crossing border. Truckers that actually run drugs are really taking chances beyond what the risk is. I couldn't even fathom hauling illegal drugs in my rig. I would be sweating the entire trip and might even have a heart attack with it. Just hearing a cop say "You mind if we search your truck". I would need to be paid millions to do something like that, once and retired. Nah, even for 10 million dollars I wouldn't. http://bit.ly/TruckerBust Gainville Accident The recent accident in Gainesville Florida was tragic and many lives were lost. The authorities have announced that the blame is going to the north bound truck driver. The driver is said to have made an abrupt swerve

  • Dumb Trucker Scammed

    11/01/2019 Duração: 30min

Dumb Trucker Scammed. Truckers that are lonely should think twice before engaging with companions on the internet. This is the story of a trucker that fell for a common scam. There are many scammers that will send you an email claiming to either have money or are in need of someone to rescue them. Its always the same result "Send Money" and usually "lots of money". I myself have received emails like "Im a prince in Nigeria and am trying to get out of my country" "The problem is I must come alone but have much money that they would confiscate if found" "The money is in the sum of $61,000,000. The only way for me to get it out of the country would be to have a United States Bank Account. Unfortunately I am not able to start an account from this end so here is how your assistance will come in. If I can wire the Sixty One Million Dollars to your account I would pay you 10% of the total amount for your services. I would need you to keep this in the strictest confidence and not reveal this to anyone. As you can se

  • Trucking News – 7 Killed 2 Semis Two 4 Wheelers

    08/01/2019 Duração: 38min

Trucking News Trucking News - 7 Killed Two 4 Wheelers. This week in the news a terrible accident outside of Gainesville Fl. Reactions on all the blogs have been divided. Some are saying the truck driver is at fault and I would caution those people that unless they are witness to the accident don't rush to judgement. There is a recreation of the accident on https://bit.ly/2FfNRnP  and it shows the rig making a hard left turn int o a car which then goes across the medium. Semi trucks don't just swerve that hard to the left going down an interstate for no reason. There are many circumstances that could have caused the swerve. The front tire could have blown. If a big rig blows a front tire the truck will automatically want to pull in the direction of that side of the rig. When a truck is moving at 70mph or more, a blown tire can be a nightmare being it is one of the hardest things to control. This is more common than one would think. I will post a couple of links that will talk about steer tire blow outs o

  • Pre-Trip It or Be Screwed – Trucking

    28/12/2018 Duração: 37min

Pre-Trip It or Be Screwed Truck drivers every day are forced to look at the clock as they race time to make money. When starting your day with a limited set of hours to work it sometimes can be tempting to skip the "Pre-Trip inspection". This can result in a deadly decision as equipment can and does malfunction and break down. The reason for the pre-trip is to catch possibles dangers that can be lurking ahead. Truckers many times will avoid these short checks to just get down the road being they are paid by every mile they turn. Many drivers have said "I can't afford to do a pre-trip every day, after all that ads up to almost 3 hours for the week. A truck driver is given 14 hours to work 11 hours. That means if a driver does a 30 minute pre-trip each day, it is counted against his 11 hours he is allowed to work. It also means more importantly it takes away from his "drive time" which of course takes away from his bottom line. http://www.talkcdl.com You Can't Afford Not To Pre-Trip it! Some trucke

  • Kyle Rich Interview – 19 Yr. Old Trucker!

    21/12/2018 Duração: 37min

TalkCDL sat down did the Kyle Rich Interview - 19 Yr. Old trucker! We talked about how the laws prevent a 19 year old from doing the same things a 21 year can do with their Class A CDL. A Truck driver under 21 is not allowed to cross a state line. These young drivers are what is considered intrastate only, meaning they have to drive with in the state they are domiciled in. So now here is what it comes down to. A trucker under the age of 21 is allowed to drive the same hours as an "Over-the-road" trucker but they are not allowed to cross the state line. So that means, the 19 year old driver can run across say Pennsylvania for over 400 miles. But if his delivery is one mile past the state line in New Jersey, he must drop it on the Pennsylvania side and let someone else make the delivery. Thats right, he can be trusted to drive all day long performing the duties of a Class A CDL holder but not go one foot into another state. Crazy right? Well these are the laws that are on our books to this day. I say its time f

  • Trucking-News with Ruthann – Ice in the South

    20/12/2018 Duração: 26min

Trucking-New with Ruthann - Ice In The South Trucking-New With Ruthann Trucking-New With Ruthann - Truckers all 4 wheelers were made subject to a very bad slippery storm. Most parts of North Carolina had to deal with snow and ice covered roads. In the south the snow removal has been traditionally par at best. With snow and ice not being the normal issue, state and local authorities are normally lacking on resources to clear roads. When a storm hits the south (anything below Virginia haha)  it reeks havoc because of low preparations. Snow in the south is like palm trees in the north, they just don't seem to go together. A total of truckers were killed during this period due to the slick conditions. Troys advice was to watch for a real good snow covered empty parking lot and go in and practice. First build up a low speed and hit your brakes. You will notice if you steer you car right the car will slide left and if you steer left your car will slide right. How can you avoid this? Try hitting those brakes o

  • A Bad Situation With Cops – Pulled Over

    17/12/2018 Duração: 54min

A Bad Situation With Cops - Pulled Over Have you ever been in A Bad Situation With Cops - Pulled Over? Have you been pulled over and it all starts going wrong? People get pulled over everyday in this country and the "stop" goes fairly well and you are on you way. Sometimes our emotions and what we thought was right or wrong can dictate the way we interact with the police. Truckers get pulled over on the side of the road every day being we are on the road most of our life. There are times that a trucker is tired and pressed to be somewhere which can create a bad mood. In this podcast we explore A Bad situation - Pulled Over! We talked about how a particular moment when a truck driver was pulled over for "following too close" and how him and the cops dealt with the alleged infraction.  Knowing our Roles When we as the motoring public have to deal with different people on a day to day basis, we should know what position we play! There are different levels of authorities in our country and knowin
