  • Trucking History and Yesterdays Truckers

    14/06/2019 Duração: 45min

Trucking History Yesterdays TruckersTrucking History goes back a long way. Before the 1900s trucking was getting its start without even knowing it. Big trucks were more of an advertising billboard but they soon realized the big machines were going to be a useful for profit. Trucking started with horse pulled trailers and it was a rough start. Imagine todays trucker traveling through time to be a trucker back then.Imagine sitting in a truck powered by a electric engine from time past. Imagine how there was nonsuch thing as an air ride seat. Yesterdays trucker was a very genuine person. There was no glory of living on the road at that time. These men were cutting the path for todays trucker and they did it with spirit and raw determination. Trucks back then were sitting on top of solid tires, thats right drivers did not have the pleasure of traveling on air tires. I cant fathom driving for miles down the road on of course back then a gravel road with with air tires. My teeth are rattling just thinking about it.

  • Detention Pay & 52 Humans in a Trailer

    11/06/2019 Duração: 30min

Detention PayDetention Pay & 52 Humans in a Trailer. Most truck drivers are told they will get detention pay if they sit more than 2 hours at a shipper or a receiver. This in most cases is a recruiting tool that in most cases never is seen. According to most drivers interviewed, they put in for detention pay and never see it. If they do see it, they have to beg for it and most will tell you that its not worth the argument. Detention as we mentioned starts when a driver has made his appointment time and has sat either unloaded or loaded waiting for the opposite to happen. The one making out like a bandit in this situation in the shipper or receiver. Knowing the trucking company needs their freight often times they don't pay the carrier their detention time and therefore the tuck driver ends up sitting for free unrested while he waits to be unloaded or loaded. 75 Chrome Shop & The Long Haul Bandits75 Chrome Shop & The Long Haul Bandits. We sat down with the Long Haul Bandit at the 75 Chrome Shop in Wildwood FL. We talked about everything from bee haulers to bringing back respect in the trucking industry. The bandits are on a mission to better the trucking industry by helping educate those that have not learned about respect. One driver at a time they induct them into the LHB or the Long Haul Bandits Trucker Club. Entrance is not just a signature and you're in. The gate keepers are Sancho and Grump, the Prez and VP. They take the Bandits very serious and they are on guard. If you want to be in the club there are a few things you will have to do and have. The have of course if the "desire". You must really want to be a part of this growing group of truck drivers that want to do things the right way and make the brotherhood of trucking a thing of respect. • Trucker Gun Laws

    31/05/2019 Duração: 28min

Trucker Gun LawsTrucker Gun Laws are very confusing for most truck drivers. Many truckers are under the impression that it is illegal to carry a fire arm in a commercial vehicle. When in fact there is no such law. If you have a carry permit then there are many states that will recognize your permit in their state. You can learn which states http://x-msg://214/You can also go to http://bit.ly/Truckergunsand read about which states you can carry in. Trucking Company Laws Trucker Gun Laws sometimes can be ignored when it comes to companies making up their own rules. Many trucking companies have a no gun rule but there is a law called the Work Place Protection Law or the Parking Lot Protection Law. http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0790/Sections/0790.251.htmlhttp://bit.ly/2WxGznnhttp://bit.ly/TruckerWeaponRightshttp://talkcdl.com/future-semi-trucks-no-mirrors/ Trucker Gun Laws Check with your company before carrying a gun in your semi truck. • Future Semi Trucks No Mirrors

    28/05/2019 Duração: 29min

Future Semi TrucksFuture Semi Trucks No Mirrors is the title to this weeks podcast. In the future most semi trucks will not have mirrors. Instead they will have mounted cameras in specific places that will enable the driver to see and monitor more of their surroundings. Mirrors can be blinding with sun reflexions. They also limit the driver to the space they reflect. Mirrors have proven to be a valuable tool on automobiles since the beginning of the auto industry. There is always room for improvement and that is where modern technology comes into play. This writer is in agreement to cameras mounted to show a driver a more safer way. Cameras can also warn Ones of the things a camera can do is sound off alarms. A camera set up the correct way can measure distance and know when an object is approaching or is in the way. It can sound an alarm to alert a driver thus avoiding most dangers in the future. In the future perhaps a camera will also come with a voice that can help guide a driver thru a safe trip.

    17/04/2019 Duração: 30min

Bad BridgesBad Bridges are everywhere in the United States. Ruthann sat down and explained where the repairs are needed the most on Americas bridges. There has been many incidents where a bridge has collapsed. People have been injured and even killed when these mass concrete structures come down. In Minnesota a bridge had collapsed on I35 with mass destruction. We can only imagine the Brooklyn bridge coming down during rush hour. Today, 125,000 motor vehicles cross the Brooklyn Bridge each day [PDF], as do roughly 4,000pedestrians and 2,600 cyclists. Emily Warren Roebling was the first to cross the bridge. The bridge's main span over the East River is 1,595 feet 6 inches (486.3 m). The bridge cost US$15.5 million in 1883 dollars (about US$403,339,000 in today's dollars) to build, and an estimated 27 men died during its construction. So with that being said we can see why the bridge has not been reconstructed. Where will they get the money for the rebuild?https://www.tripsavvy.com/people-crossing-the-brooklyn-

    29/03/2019 Duração: 28min

Five Trucking TrendsFive Trucking Trends Shaping 2019. We won't go into exact detail but there are many trends shaping th trucking world. Independent Contractors or Owner Operators is making a strong comeback. At times past the numbers of truck drivers owing their own trucks were at a decline. The industry has done an about face and drivers are investing in their own rigs and trying to cut their own path. Currently if a driver would take the chance at starting his own company his odds are better than ever of succeeding. At one time a trucker was at the mercy of leasing onto a trucking company and depending on the carrier to provide freight for them. Today opportunity is knocking for those that will. Shippers are begging for carriers to haul their freight which opens the door for new and upcoming businesses. If you have decent credit and a couple dollars saved you could be the future owner of the next mega carrier. http://bit.ly/TruckingTrends Trucking is a Trend It seems more and more people are enterin
