In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul teaches us how what God says about hard work, how we should work, and the mentality we are to have about work. WHY GOD CALLS US TO WORK • God calls us to work because it reflects our dependence on Him, using His strength and resting in His grace and love as we further His Kingdom. • God calls us to work so we aren’t a burden to others but also to help and provide for those who can’t work. Paul writes to the Thessalonian church about the prophetic events related to the Day of the Lord. He warns them about the great deception, the same deception Jesus spoke about in Matthew 24:24, “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” THE PROPHETIC EVENTS RELATED TO THE DAY OF THE LORD… 1. The great apostasy of the modern Church The great “falling away” prophesied by the Apostle Paul is a “super sign” that the rapture of the Church is near. While there have always been “Christians” and “churches” that have “fallen away,” it has never been as widespread and “en masse” as now. God describes the end-times “Church” as a “harlot” because she has prostituted the truth with lies! Revelation 17:5, “And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” 2. The rapture of the true Church Paul is very clear that the Holy Spirit is currently restraining Satan and

The Thessalonians were known for their “irresistible holiness.” First Thessalonians 4:7 says, “For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” To be holy means to be set apart, separated for a purpose. God calls us to be separated from sexual immorality to pursue lives that are holy. HOLINESS “…but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’”—1 Peter 1:15-16 HOW DOES GOD’S WORD DEFINE SEXUAL IMMORALITY? Sexual immorality is defined as any sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman. “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”—Hebrews 13:4 “And He answered and said to them, ‘Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning “made them male and female.”’”—Matthew 19:4 God does not consider something morally acceptable just because it feels natural to you. The Thessalonians were a church of “irresistible influence” because they were a church of “irresistible leadership.” A Kingdom leader’s mission is to make disciples who make disciples, which means everyone is called to be someone’s leader. Jesus sends us on a mission to take the gospel to our neighbors and to the nations. God has a mission for you! Ask Him how He wants you to live sent. John 20:21 says, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” GOD’S MISSION FOR YOU IS TO LIVE SENT The Apostle Paul lived sent by keeping these 3 things in mind… He was a bondservant to Christ. Paul described himself as a debtor and a bondslave of the Lord Jesus Christ. A bondslave was not “forced” into servitude but one who willingly chose to serve their master, giving up all “rights” to their life. He was willing and ready. Paul could not contain his passion for the mission of taking the gospel to the nations! In Romans 1:15, he wrote, “So, as much as is in me, I AM READY to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also“ (emphasis added). The words “I am ready” are translated from two Greek words that imply passion and emotion. He was unashamed. In Romans 1:16, Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvat

Have you ever forsaken God for false freedom? Oftentimes we exchange following God’s lead for “freedom” and find ourselves running into a wall of hurt. That is because the freedom promised is false. It really wasn’t freedom at all, but a trap of destruction. Jeremiah 2:13 says… “’For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.’” Jeremiah is speaking on God’s behalf, telling the people that forsaking Him for false freedom is… Dangerous Causes ruin or injury Leaving Him behind HAVE YOU LEFT GOD BEHIND? We have a tendency to slowly drift away from God, forsaking time with Him thinking it will give us freedom elsewhere. Sadly, this only leads to destruction. They complained. They doubted God would provide, and they cast blame, saying, “Why is it you (Moses) have brought us out of Egypt, to kill us…” (Exodus 17:4). God told Moses to strike a rock and promised a fountain of “living water” would come out. And that it did, even when the people doubted.
