African American women are often seen as oppressed, but they are much more! Their fight has been central to the fight of all women and the fight of us all. Meet Premilla Nadasen, author of Welfare Warriors and Domestic Workers Unite! Premilla is helping us rethink the role of Black women in our history. But she also helps us see that Black women cracked open the issue of the value of housework, which impacts every one of us. We all have to deal with housework. Either we provide unpaid labor in the home, we expect someone else to do it or we have to pay someone else, so that we can go out and make money ourselves. What is the value of housework? How does it relate to the labor movement? Who is going to take care of the house, the kids and us? How can we work inside and outside the home at the same time? How does welfare relate to housework, and how have black kids been hurt through the racialization of welfare. Women, housework, race and class: This topic will blow your mind. Join us!

  • The Potluck Revolution: Radical, Yet as American as Apple Pie

    18/02/2016 Duração: 57min

The Potluck Revolution is a call for us to go back to our American roots of cooperation and mutual support. For decades we have been told that competition is the normal way to live. Not so. We also have a history and desire for cooperation. We’ve had barn raising, where folks got together to help one another, and potlucks, where everyone contributes what they have, and we all get fed. These models are cooperative and as American as apple pie. Bernie Sanders says that we need a political revolution, where millions of people take back our power from special interests, and we agree. But we also need an economic, social and spiritual revolution, all based on cooperation and caring. Tune into this show to find out about the Potluck Revolution, how to build it and what you can bring to the table. Call in live, if you can. And contact Beth to invite her to come into your world to speak via videoconference. The potluck is a model of how we can and want to be. Let’s spread it! Bon appetite!

In a world where 62 individuals own as much as half the world’s population, where 1% of people own MORE than the other 99% combined, where for decades DuPont knowingly poisoned us by using a toxic, cancer-causing chemical, where since the 1990s Big Oil has been denying climate change while secretly preparing for it, where workers are told that a $15/hour minimum wage is too much, where real wages are going down and money controls much of the media and the political system, don’t you think it’s time to ask if capitalism is working for US? We’ve been told that capitalism and democracy are the same. Are they? Dr. Richard Wolff, former Economics professor at the University of Massachusetts, has long had the guts to question the system. He says there is a better way – a form of socialism that is more democratic. What is it? Could it work? How does it relate to the Inner Revolution? Tune in. Big business and billionaires may control the government and the economy. But they can’t control us!

    14/01/2016 Duração: 56min

The Rabid Right is NOT simply people expressing their opinions. It is people who are insulting, venomous and sometimes even threatening. They have been encouraged by candidates like Donald Trump who don’t care about facts or decency. So how do we respond to the anger, lies and downright meanness of the Rabid Right? Today’s show is a debate between the two sides of host Beth Green. In one corner is Beth, a woman trying to hang onto her humanity as she is being attacked, still trying to reach out compassionately to her attackers in the spirit of Oneness. In the other corner is Madam Mazurka, Beth’s alter ego, who is a hilarious Transylvanian psychic who’s been dead too long to care and is ready to duke it out with opponents. What IS the right approach for our times? Compassion or retort? You be the judge. • Isn't Cheap Clothing Great? Maybe Not! Hear Andrew Morgan Tell a Story You'll Want to Hear!

    07/01/2016 Duração: 56min

Uh oh! Not another depressing story about how we need to change our lifestyle in order to change the world! Are we supposed to stop wearing clothes now? Well, not exactly. But cheap clothes come from cheap labor, and cheap labor is about misery and even death. And we could insist that clothing be made by people who have rights, safety and decent wages; that it be made to last rather than be quickly tossed into our dumps; and that it be made with minimum pollution. In this show, we’re interviewing Andrew Morgan, the Director of “The True Cost,” a powerful film about the fashion industry from top to bottom. And it is an eye opener. There are horror stories, like the collapse of a factory in Bangladesh, where 1,127 workers died because they were forced to go back into a dangerous building despite their complaints. And there’s hopeful stories about people who are trying to change all that. Andrew will inform our minds and touch our hearts. We can help! Andrew Morgan will show us how.

We all have weather and we all eat food. In fact we do it several times a day. So here’s a topic for us all. With the UN conference on climate change, climate is in the news and so is a new focus on food and the environment: what we eat, as well as how we grow and distribute it. But what if a different kind of fuel is taking a huge toll on our environment, and we could change that by changing our diets? It’s true. Some of the foods fueling our bodies are devastating our water supplies, bringing other species to extinction, destroying our rainforests and creating major amounts of greenhouse gases, and most of us don’t want to know about it. In their ground-breaking documentary, Cowspiracy, Keegan Kuhn and Kip Anderson are shaking us up about the impact of animal agriculture on our planet, and it’s making lots of us feel really uncomfortable. Meet Keegan, co-director of the film. Hear the shocking facts about animal agriculture and learn the story of this film, which has gotten the backing of Leonard DiCaprio. 19/11/2015 Duração: 57min

Elections are supposed to be a time when we come together to discuss our collective future. But is that what’s happening now? In the US, we’re going through the presidential primaries and seeing a lot of bickering, unsubstantiated claims, empty promises and grandstanding. Some of us feel really passionate about a candidate. Some of us don’t like any of them. But nobody can say that there’s much real discussion going on. And many of us feel uncomfortable even with our “own” candidates, because we don’t see substantial debate or we distrust their forthrightness or wonder if they’re just jockeying for votes. Imagine the Oneness Party has just nominated host Beth Green for president, with Beth running on a platform of Universal Human Values. Christine Benton returns to our show to ask Beth about her presidential campaign. Expect Beth’s special humor and integrity in a discussion of the challenges of our times.
