One of the greatest prayer requests’ that come across my desk and even the pulpit… is the prayer for loved ones. A truth that is not hard to see is that the family is under such attack in the day and hour we live, with every aspect scrutinized… inwardly and openly. Motherhood, Fatherhood, and even Childhood is being challenged as to its effectiveness in modern society. Please hear this, if we fail in our homes, we literally neutralize our ability to positively affect our nation, even Christianity. The whole of our corporate, and/or even our individual destiny as a nation or a people lay in the ability of men to lead effective families. Why? Our physical house is out of order, and to get it back in order we must set our personal and spiritual house in order. Why? because the one who rules your life, is the one who rules your life! As I have clearly stated in this series, our ‘Christian view’ of God to say the least, is tainted by the ‘Worldview’ many have of God; especially when things are going bad. Sadly many somehow see God as someone who can never be pleased and will disown us at anytime. Yet this is not the God we serve. If I could do one thing, I’d like to help each of us see God in a new and fresh way. How much he really loves us and help to understand that the love God has and gives is one that has no strings attached. A love that truly is unconditional. You see, through setting His love on you and I, God has literally and ‘voluntarily bound up’ His own final happiness with ours. And He will not know perfect and unequivocal happiness again until He has brought every one of us to heaven to be with Him. That is the expression of the love of the God we need to get to know. As Christians, do we really know who we are, what is really important, and the purpose that we have in life? What does the death, burial and resurrection and my resulting relationship with Christ really mean? Pentecost Sunday. What was it? What happened? What did the events of the day mean? Wonderful things happened on the first day of Pentecost. The new church began with an amazing miracle. So powerful were the events, 3000 people believed and were baptized. Act 2:1-18 God began His Church, and what has now been happening over the past 2000yrs. The happenings of Pentecost are still in operation today as it will continue until the rapture of the church in the not too distant future. God called David ‘a man after His own heart.’ (Acts 13:32) To see God as David did, to have the heart David had; is to have familiarity, closeness marked by warmth, tender association. This is what God wants for us, just like David. Think about your closest relationships. Those with whom you can bare your soul without fear of being judged or rejected. Those who know you best and still like you. This is Gods’ desire. How long has it been, as possibly have you ever been this real and honest with God? God desires this. Still this type of relationship takes intimate commitment, dedication and time on our part to build and nurture; and this becomes our most dear friendship. Growing closer to and maturing in Christ, is the most critical area we need to work on in our Christian lives. There is one key to our ability to grow closer to God and that is too check and if necessary, adjust our ‘worldview’ Of God which greatly affects our ‘Christian view’ of God. In doing this we are able to build our Christian life. We must really get a hold of this. Our view of God is probably the most crucial part of our Christian walk. Why? Because too many have a tendency to base their belief on what they see, not on what is believed or God’s Word states! Making God ‘centermost’ in our lives will enable us to get His ‘uttermost’ for our lives. Today we celebrate one of the greatest days, I believe has ever been established as a national Holiday... ‘Mother’s Day’ On this day, for a few moments, we want to pay tribute to the very ones who are solely responsible for us being here, our Mothers. I say solely for this very reason, they didn’t have to allow your birth. There are a variety of reasons they didn’t have too, but the bottom line is this; love compelled them too! You see, every mother has the breathtaking privilege of sharing with God in the creation of new life. She helps bring into existence a soul that will endure for all eternity. Mom's... this day is for you!

The safest place to be is in the middle of a storm; when God is with you. And the best thing to do in the midst of a storm is to not try to figure out why things are happening as they are, but rather to trust that if God allowed you to get there it’s for a reason and He will work out what He is now working in. Four things come out of every storm; we learn responsibility, we find assurance, we understand commitment and we develop peace. And all these help us to learn what Jesus wants us to know about life, and even more important, about how to have peace in the midst of the storm. The bible tells us that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. It is the storms of life, the darkest or most difficult times; when we’re the weakest that God’s strength and light shines. It’s always the darkness of night that makes us so appreciate the brightness of day. Understand the Lord will always let us go through just enough to help us realize that truly without Him we can do nothing, but that through Him we can do all things. Join Pastor Tim and VLCC (ONLINE) as we continue our series on the 'Storms of Life' and understand that we do not just 'go through' each storm, but that we 'grow through' each storm. It is as David understood; 'walking through the valley' that assured us we need to 'fear no evil' for 'God is with us!'

Many Believers have the misconception that walking by faith means they should be able to effortlessly glide all the way. The Bible teaches quite the opposite in 1 Timothy 6:12 where the apostle Paul wrote, 'Fight the good fight of faith....' According to this verse, the path of faith often requires a fight to see it through to completion. Jude, Jesus' brother said he wanted to write about the salvation we all share, but was led rather to write about his concern that 'the faith', had and we share was under attack from false teachers who are spreading dangerous heresies. Jude urges then, and God's Word affirms today that his readers are too contend for the faith against those who seek to undermine and erode it. Matthew 6:25-36 says; 'Do not worry about your life... you cannot change your life by worrying... he takes care of the sparrow, he will take care of us... seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and He will take care of everything else.' If we do our part, which is obedience; God said He will do His part, which is provide. I’ve said for years, ‘There are more victories won by choice than there are by chance’. And, no one has ever yet fell to the top of a mountain, he or she must do something! Today, as on that day, heaven will be filled with people who made a decision to be there. And with that decision they believed God’s Word, accepted God’s provision and they received the promises God promised. How was this done? They made a choice to come over to Christ with their whole life therefore they were able to overcome the world.

In our series ‘Seeking First God’s Kingdom’, we clearly see God owns everything, is the source of everything… and He wants to give us everything! ‘Freely’ bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus. Yet most never stop to grasp the reason. Long before the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ… God established His promises to His chosen people, which every Christian can now enjoy! In Deuteronomy 28:1-2 scripture says what we fail to understand: ‘If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God…’ (NLT) Did you notice an underlying premise to receive what leads up to God’s promises? From Genesis to Revelation, there is a clear path to walk on that has never changed and remains the same... Observe and Do. Seeking First the Kingdom of God is imperative to receiving all that God has for our lives. To do so, there is an understanding in God’s word that must be attended to for us to come to the fullness of God’s blessing. The bible is full of implied subjects that many times are not clearly defined. Parables are like this, ‘like the Sower and the Seed’ we spoke of last week… built on pictures to help people see God’s plan. It all begins with what we have! Faith is the power of God’s Source. If we can and will believe God can do much with little! Bible faith says, ‘God made a promise and that promise is for me to believe, accept and receive.’ Faith grows, as we understand. You have to know before you can understand! If we do not know that God’s promises are for us it is easy to understand why we do not enjoy them! God want us to understand His Word, so that we can enjoy His Promises. Join us as we continue our series on 'Seeking First God's Kingdom' and learn what 'God Being our Source' means.

Everything the bible records is as much in effect today as it ever has been. Reading God’s Word, especially Jesus’ Words are not only awe-inspiring, but life changing. Yet it seems God’s people still struggle. Why? In this 'sin filled' world, and many hear God’s Word, but do not understand God’s Word and therefore do not obey God’s Word. And because of this, they miss out on God’s best! I came to a simple truth a few years ago. In this fast-paced world we live in, I really didn’t have time for anything. I know that was no revelation in and of itself, but what was revealed was this... the only time I would ever have time for anything was the time that I would make. The only time we’ll ever have is the time we make. We have to make time for things in our life if we ever expect to accomplish anything... job, family, marriage, etc. Yet the greatest time that we have to make is the time we make for Jesus.
