Throughout history God's people in our imperfections have been in and out of bondage. Maybe it's the voices of others or bad decisions we make. God as Creator is aware of our flaws yet continues of cover us. March 31 marks the International Transgender Day of Visibility (also called TDOV, Transgender Day of Visibility). For those not aware this is an annual event dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society. Today as always we stand with our Transgender siblings and say....we see you...we love you... and you are a beautiful part of the tapestry that makes up this world.Melbourne Inclusive Church welcomes Michelle Sheppard to share about her life journey and the work she is doing as a Transgender woman. Michelle Sheppard, “Mama Mish”, is a highly respected presenter, advocate, and trainer in the gender equity space and is currently in the Inclusion & Social Procurement for LXRP/DoT. When Jesus calls us friend he is not referring to the sometimes superficial friendships we encounter in this day and age. When Jesus calls us friends he doesn't hold anything back. Jesus confides in us. The truth that is in him is given to us through Holy Spirit. See Jesus never really left us. He left this Earth physically but lives on inside us through the Spirit. FAN is a youth homelessness organisation that has been providing support for over 40 years to young people aged 15-25 years who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Along with mainstream clients FAN is the only organisation in Victoria who offers a specialised model of housing and support specifically to LGBTIQ young people. FAN also offers a suite of services to young LGBTIQ people including Eastern Diversity Group which is aa social support group (EDG) and Talking with Pride which is a family violence therapeutic group.Michelle Thompson is the Manager of the Client Services Team at Family Access Network FAN. Michelle has worked in the Community Sector for over 25 years mainly working with young people and their families. Michelle has worked in a variety of settings including Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Youth Homelessness, Family Services and Community Health. Michelle is a qualified Youth Worker and Counsellor. Michelle also teaches in Youth Work in the Tertiary Secto

All throughout Scripture we see Jesus defending and walking alongside those that others considered less than or unworthy. Not only did Jesus welcome these people but he used them to bring about this "New Way" in which the law rather than being written on tablets of stone, would be written on our hearts. They understood their need for Jesus while the religious leaders only mocked him. Jesus advocated then and now advocates for us in Heaven. Jesus is always praying for us but when we sin, he stands in our place as our advocate and says....debt paid. How many of us grew up with a God that was angry. We fear making a mistake, we fear when we purposely hurt someone and then feel bad that it's too late God hates me. Nothing could be further from the truth, in fact it is God who comes to us through Christ in our greatest sadness and weaknesses. Jesus says come and I will walk through this with you. The Bible tells us that in Christ we have a High Priest who is able to sympathise with us because He too was tempted like we are and yet did not sin. But Christ's love goes even deeper. It says that for the joy set before Him Jesus as able to endure the cross. You are that joy. Every time you struggle and allow the Lord to help you...helping you gives Him great joy. Naomi Pryde has been living and working in Northern India and Northern Thailand for the past 10 years running Jesus devotional spaces and Ashrams. In these spaces of safety and questioning , the beauty of Christ is shared with spiritual wanderers, hippies and travellers through contemplative and monastic spiritual embodied practice. Naomi was raised in Sydney in a strong evangelical/Anglican family, attended Sydney Missionary and Bible College and whilst always slightly rebellious, always embraced by the church. Over the past 10 years Naomi’s faith has fallen apart, deepened and been refined by a number of experiences that have led her into the safe arms and mystery of her beautiful Jesus in which the certainty taught in her early Christian life began to unravel. Many times we relate to God by different aspects of God's nature. Some of us relate more to the creation story and what we see in all that God created. We see God's heart through Christ at Calvary.
