Oh boy, not too awful much to say here. A short special report recording on the way to and from an early (like silly early) excursion to The Vinyl Underground at 7th Heaven for drop 2 of Record Store Day 2021. So, long story short, Record Store Day came about in 2007 when a group of independent record stores got together to promote the sale of vinyl. By then, streaming had overcome CDs for the preferred music format and records were a thing of the past. Personally, I'd converted over to CDs way back when and slowly moved over to mp3s and later streaming for everything also. Then, about 2.5 years ago, my son and I were cleaning up downstairs and he came across my original copy of Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist. After making sure his fragile young eyes didn't take in the included poster (yep, I have the entire original thing with the order form inside for merch and music from Tentacle Records as well), I found my Sony turntable nearby and we hooked it up. I had like 4 records or so at that point. Today? 298. It'

I start out thinking I'm not upset with much or I don't have anything bugging me...but don't worry, I find it. New music for me involves some Alan Parsons Project (I, Robot) and Starcrawler. Other than that, well...here's the recent spins and stuff. Been watching way, way too many crime docs on streaming platforms. In addition, still on the IT Crowd and a few other odds and ends. Reading that Later by Stephen King and started up The Thrawn Ascendancy: Book 1 - Chaos Rising on audiobook. So, again, no new episode next week. I mean, is it though? We're gonna find out within the next month or so. After the break, I discuss a few different things including us recently having watched the second Kingsman film. I am a little more "meh" on this one personally. The first one was completely over the top and ridiculous. This one makes that look totally plausible. Too much guys. Seriously. Started up The IT Crowd with my wife. We'd watched all the way through Toast of London twice and she loves Matt Berry as do I. I figured she's got to see him in all his glory in this earlier show. It's been fun revisiting these characters and the insanity for sure. Heck, I even have one of Matt Berry's records. Good stuff actually. Blasted through that second season of Love Death + Robots also (trailer is NSFW). Go, now, and watch...with an open mind. It's amazing. Wow! So, in supporting a black-owned business online, yours truly learned a little about how intolerant and uptight we are in the Midwest about race. Granted, I already knew this somewhat, but not to the extent I witnessed. After the break, I come in hard about some new vinyl I've acquired starting with the latest Greta Van Fleet album The Battle at Garden's Gate that I picked up as my first of their records. I like it...a lot. I have heard them prior to now and I've even seen them perform live on SNL, but I wasn't too awful into it. I will say, though, I think they're a pretty solid group instrumentally and his voice is even growing on me some. This is my fave tune and the album opener. It's interesting watching "kids" rock in a 60s-70s style in 2021. I guess the real point is that I just need to "STFU Boomer" and enjoy some good modern rock. Yeah, seriously people. Aisles at stores are made for two carts side by side going in different directions. Not morons taking up the whole aisle. Not grocery pickers working at the store. Move!!! I've been watching the second season of Shudder's Creepshow series and I have to say, it's great. If you don't know much about Creepshow's origin, it's derived from comics that Stephen King and George Romero loved as kids called EC Comics. Pretty great stuff. Still watching and loving Kim's Convenience as well. Give it a shot. Went through watching some other trailers for series the other night. Did watch an episode of Disjointed and one of Real Rob also. Might have to give #blackAF a look here soon. I think I'm gonna make me some of these record dividers. I just can't see ponying up for these. No way. Gotta get that stuff in order as it will soon be Record Store Day! No new records spinning here lately, but scoping out some Queensryche and Marillion records in the new future. Enough with this hating of/rage towards those that are different in skin tone/sexuality/religion/anything at all than you. I'm telling ya. We're gonna have to make a lot of you go sit in the corner and think about your actions here real soon. I've been digging on the new White Album box set I scored this past weekend. Amazing stuff with lots of extras including the new mixes from the original master tapes, the original demos for the record, photos, a poster, and on and on. Great stuff. I've got all recent spins right here. "Get over heeeere!" Yep, watched Mortal Kombat with my wife and son. I was pretty surprised with his knowledge of all the characters/backstory. Cool. Not much else on the watching front other than assorted YouTube rabbit holes I've been down recently. I won't share those, so you don't have to deal with that like I've had to. Got lots of new issues to read comic-wise. Picked up the Star Wars book called Skywalker: A Family At War after discussing it with Keith Beard. Pretty interesting stuff

I know, another special report. I think it's totally fitting in this situation though. In reality, nobody won on this deal. Chauvin, though a bad guy, has kids and a family and now he'll be away from them for the foreseeable future. That stinks. George Floyd's gone forever though. I'm just glad the right decision was made here. I'm into a lot of stuff really, now that I take a good look at it. On the music front...I came dangerously close to buying the BabyMetal album. Yeah, I know. I did pick up a few gems for sure though. You can check out what's been spinning right here. Stuff I'm watching is as diverse and crazy as ever. We really love the film Nobody (trailer is NSFW). The new Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings looks really solid later this year. The HBOMax docuseries Q: Into the Storm is something else. It's weird watching millions be duped by loons. It happened though. Reading got pretty interesting this week. This one starts out with me talking about an awkward convo with my teenage daughter. Having a daughter has opened my eyes, personally, when it comes to sexism and chauvinist behavior. No more from this end. I'm not talking about just stopping either. I stopped it years ago. I'm talking about calling folks out of it from now on. After the break, I talk some about the current stuff I'm into. The documentary on HBO Max called Tina is pretty incredible. It actually helped influence what's bugging me this week. It's a well-made piece of documentary filmmaking and I highly suggest you watch this woman's battle with those around her that didn't believe in her... all the way up until that Private Dancer album dropped in the early 80s. It's a must-see in my opinion. Godzilla Vs. Kong...well it's just that. Nothing more and nothing less. I mean, what else can you say? It's insane the crap I've heard in suspicion of the COVID vaccine. Interesting to me that people who read and listen to bullshit made up stories by morons via their own media consumption devices made by science...well, they refuse to believe in science. How crazy is that? Well, it's Jewish Space Laser crazy is the answer. My wife and I got our first shots of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon and it's all good to go. Quick and relatively painless. #GETVACCINATED So excited for baseball season. I know Keith Beard and I have discussed a lot with it and I'm loving MLB.TV this year. Can't wait until tomorrow. Took the family out to dinner and to see "Nobody" at the theatre last Friday. It was fun as anything. We all loved it. Big dumb action fun by a few of the people who brought us John Wick.
