  • JCS 062: Are Panic Attacks Real?

    31/03/2016 Duração: 24min

Are Panic Attacks Real? Some may say no, others may say maybe. This question has been around for years from people who don't understand anxiety and panic attacks. People who don't experience anxiety, or at least their unwilling to admit they have anxiety, are likely to assume that panic attacks are simply all in someone's head.  Perhaps people who are overly sensitive and dramatic say their having a panic attack, but it's just overblown worry. For the person who questions the legitimacy I want to let you know, yes, panic attacks are real. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), 2.7% of the U.S. population have panic attacks.  Panic attacks are a real, and they are a real problem for millions of people. Don't take panic attacks lightly and please, don't judge someone who experiences panic attacks. If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from panic attacks I want to encourage you to tell someone whom you trust. Don't suffer in silence and alone. Anxie

It’s true that the symptoms of a panic attacks can mimic a heart attack, but the two are very different. One is emotional the other is physical. I want to be very clear here. If you think you’re having a heart attack please go to the hospital right away. Don’t try to convince yourself that it’s nothing. It’s something.  Don’t ignore it. PANIC ATTACKS FEEL LIKE YOU’RE DYINGIt’s far better to go to the hospital thinking you’re having a heart attack (but you’re experiencing a panic attack instead) than the other way around.
