    I experiment in my gym each week with different ways to load the body in an attempt to make it Xplode! Add a load to the body and the body will adapt to that load. But no all loads are created equal! You have different ways for the body to handle the load. Different types of contractions to manage the loads. Concentric (yawn), Isometric (double yawn) and most exciting, Eccentric (Gahhdouche). Eccentric contractions are where the muscle is actively lengthening. Think about slowly lowering a mountain climber on a rope. The rope is getting longer but it is always under tension. This illicit incredible adaptation in the muscle fibers.     I have a #YOJAY to ask myself. In other words, I have questions that run through my mind that need answering. The problem is that my answers are coming from my singular perspective. This perspective determines my beliefs and influences my actions. It is not until we are introduced to a different perspective that our beliefs can be altered. My question is, why do we train? Seriously! What are we training for. If you are not an athlete or have a job/hobby that requires physical exerction, why would we stress our bodies the way we do in the gym? I have a skewed viewpoint because i am a strength coach. I am like a drug dealer who only sees addicts and who gets high off his own supply. This limited perspective would have you think that the whole world lives this life or a version of this. Rarely do we take a step back and look at the other ways we can live our lives.     Do you even know why you do what you do? Usually its a product of what you are comfortable with due to the fact you have always done it that way. From your career to the exercises you choose in the gym. You do what you are already good at. I challenge you to look at your actions from the outside looking in and question everything. Remove the ego and be open to the idea that what you are doing may not be the right approach. I have always said that true strength comes from identifying your weaknesses and doing something about it. You will never identify your weakness if you don't allow yourself to be wrong. I always look to remove limitations before I add performance variables. I do this both in training athletes and mentoring my Mentorees. Do a deep dive into the why and then remove the performance barriers before adding anything to the mix. In training we do this via the physical screen/assessment.     I hate New Year's Resolutions. If it was that important for you to make changes in your life you would have made them already. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% behind you changing habits or things in your life that your heart knows needs to be altered. The problem with changing habits is how we approach the process. We create pass or fail scenarios that are unrealistic. I will never, ever do "X" again. Then you do "X" and you throw the entire goal out the window. If it is a pass or fail goal you inevitably will either pass and quit or fail and quit. Either way, you will return back to your previous habit as a form of celebration or defeat. "I will never break another club over my knee after a bad shot!" Is this really a habit or is it the action that follows a bigger bad habit? The habit is overreacting or reacting inappropriately in the presence of stress. A more effective approach to this issue is to change the type of person you see yourself to be. Say to yourself, "I am the type of person that stays calm in
