I hate New Year's Resolutions. If it was that important for you to make changes in your life you would have made them already. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% behind you changing habits or things in your life that your heart knows needs to be altered. The problem with changing habits is how we approach the process. We create pass or fail scenarios that are unrealistic. I will never, ever do "X" again. Then you do "X" and you throw the entire goal out the window. If it is a pass or fail goal you inevitably will either pass and quit or fail and quit. Either way, you will return back to your previous habit as a form of celebration or defeat. "I will never break another club over my knee after a bad shot!" Is this really a habit or is it the action that follows a bigger bad habit? The habit is overreacting or reacting inappropriately in the presence of stress. A more effective approach to this issue is to change the type of person you see yourself to be.
