Mary Danielsen chats with author Dave Jenkins of Servants of Grace Ministries about contentment and what it means to have God be our all-in-all. Dave calls it the "journey of a lifetime" not only because our trials and difficulties can be lifelong but because God is working a great weight of glory in each of His children. What would life be like if every trial we experienced came with it lasting peace and joy? As foreign or even impossible as that may sound to us today, we are being sanctified and renewed day by day, but conditionally -  if we can learn to wait, trust, and take every thought captive. Piece of cake, right? Maybe not that simple, but very achievable by the power of the Holy Spirit. In 2 Peter 3:4 we read that scoffers use the argument that "all things continue as they have been" which in nature is true. Where humans are concerned nothing could be further from the truth. Prophecy students have a general outline to follow, but unbelievers have no idea what's coming. Nevertheless, some are anticipating what is called a "Black Swan event" - which by definition is a rarity that comes out of nowhere and subsequently causes great upheaval and change - and increases governmental control if manipulated. Believers are looking for the rapture - the ultimate Black Swan if there ever was one, of which humans have no control. Politically speaking, it could be the cancellation of elections, a limited nuke event, or comprehensive Middle East war. Good thing God is on the throne! Using the text of 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, we learn of Paul's concerns that his readers (including this generation) would find themselves beguiled and bewitched just as Eve was and their/our minds would be corrupted. We will look at some of the ways this can and will happen at an increasingly rapid rate. Are we willing to tell people that they "have the wrong Jesus" and explain what that means? It's a pretty fascinating trip back to 1971 for that answer. Everything does and will fit together ultimately so the best we can do is pray for wisdom, point to Jesus, and urge the church to have sufficient oil in her lamp and an answer for the hope.
