Norival Trindade talks with Florence Fokoua in Cameroon during a recent History Makers Journey.  Florence is our international director for French speaking Africa.  They discuss the spread of the ILI movement throughout that part of the world. Kyle talks with Peter Pereira.  Peter lead Hope for Today, a ministry burdened for the nation of India.  He is also ILI's for            .  Peter, along with his wife Esther, have been instrumental in equipping over 30,000 leaders in India with ILI's Eight Core Values.  Peter describes "incredible India." Literally, a "nation of nations," India has thousands of distinct dialects and the largest number of unreached people groups in the world. In this episode we pick up on the second half of a conversation I had with Al Vom Steeg on the subject of fathers. We are talking right after Father's Day. He had just preached a Father's Day message sharing Biblical insights about the progressive nature of redeemed fatherhood. It begins in Genesis where the man is created in the image of God as a relational being to care for all creation in partnership with his wife.   As the story goes, of course, the man fails to protect his wife from the snake and falls into disobedience. Jesus' death on the cross serves to bring the deep forgiveness that restores God's original intention of the image of God in man. Then in Christ, the man becomes a restored husband who learns how to serve his wife, and in serving her becomes the healthy, empowering father who equips his children to grow into faithfulness. Today we begin with a brief review of what Al shared in part 1, and then we go into some real life stories of Al's experience as a faithful husband and father

Al Vom Steeg and Kyle begin a conversation on the importance of fathers in the family.  They discuss the fatherhood crisis overwhelming America and the hard work it takes to be a faithful father.   Al unpacks a recent Father's Day sermon he delivered at Crosswalk Community Church.  He discuss that good fathers experience a process of development, first becoming a good man, then a good husband, and ultimately a great father. Dennis Downing has been serving the Lord in Recife, Brazil for thirty years. He's part of the Oak Hills Church family reaching out to the world from San Antonio, TX. Mike Oakes, the Missions guy at Oak Hills, encouraged Dennis to attend an ILI conference in Brazil after he had experienced his first conference in Atlanta, GA. Thanksgiving is a great American tradition, and for me our greatest national holiday. Most experience Thanksgiving as the great gathering of families. It is the most traveled time of the year, either by road, rail or air as folks gather together for feast and fellowship. Even more it is the occasion for giving thanks to God who made us, saved us, and lives within us for his glory and the salvation of the whole world. It’s rooted in our pilgrim forebears who came to this nation seeking religious freedom and the opportunity to establish a community grounded in God’s presence that they might truly be that “city on a hill” that Jesus calls us to. While Thanksgiving is our grand American celebration, neither the call to be the light of the world nor to live out of deep gratitude to God is uniquely American. Hal Perkins is a true discipleship coach. He has a laser sharp focus on the kingdom call to make disciples of Jesus. I’ve heard folks misspeak that directive by saying we are to make disciples for Jesus. Nope. That’s not what Jesus says. He calls us to make disciples of Jesus, Jesus continues to be the Master disciple maker as we coach others to follow him and listen to voice as he speaks to us by his Holy Spirit.  Hal and his wife Debbie are on the road 45 weeks out of the year calling pastors and congregations to embrace Jesus' primary directive.  I caught up with Hal while they were in Arkansas, coaching believers in the lost art of being and making disciples of Jesus. To say Scott Rodin has a passion for stewardship would be an understatement. Scott has a unique focus on that creational core value that springs to life when God said, “Let them have dominion.” We did not talk about this, but I think Scott might say, that after Intimacy with God, stewardship is the essential quality of the faithful Jesus follower. He calls his ministry The Stewards’ Journey. His mission is quote, “to equip and inspire God’s people to be free and joyful stewards of life” His vision is sharp and clear: “every Christian a faithful steward and every leader a steward leader.” Scott and I discuss all things stewardship and specifically his books, The Steward Leader, published in 2010 and The Seventh Key, being released on Nov. 12. Teyei serves the Lord in Nigeria, although I caught up with him while he’s working on a Master’s Degree at Brandeis University. Nigeria is a nation with much potential. He’s working with Cru seeking a “man or woman of peace,” someone the Lord, in his sovereignty, has already prepared, in Europe’s universities to launch new student led movements for Christ where none currently exist.   Matt’s headquartered in Budapest, Hungry.
