Episódios

  • Episode 36: The Italian Job (1929) and (2003)

    10/06/2020 Duração: 01h44min

At Stuart's request, the duo return to another series of heist films nearly two years after their original look at the Ocean's Eleven films. And what a return to this form, as one film has the presence of Sir Michael Caine and the other has a variety of name actors in its own right. Tons of stunt driving and gold pilfering abound in this episode. This episode contains talks on a series all about Disney Imagineering, some Napster information, the Self-Preservation Society, and why Benny Hill was even in the 1969 film at all. All this and more on They Remade It! Plot Synopsis Timestamps: 17:00 - 30:45 ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 35: Metropolis (1927) and (2001)

    06/05/2020 Duração: 01h46min

To compensate for the headache that was editing Hellboy (thank Jacob and his hellish audio), this podcast comes a bit sooner than usual. After this its back to the routine schedule! Jacob is always looking for an excuse to talk about Japanese animated films, but the remakes are much scarcer under that criteria. Boy did he stumble across the motherload today, as the duo talk about a German piece that inspired generations and its 2001 anime counterpart. Could it even be possible to hate either of these? This episode contains some talk about podcasts and video games (on a movie podcast?), the twisted architecture of F. W. Murnau, jazzy tunes, and an immense love for Hamegg!  All this and more on They Remade It! • Episode 34: Hellboy (2004) and (2019)

    22/04/2020 Duração: 01h32min

Firstly, let it be known that this one was delayed so that Jacob could fix his audio to the best of his ability as his microphone broke down on him (and in the middle of a quarantine, no less). There is an echo as well later on in the episode but it fades after some time, apologies for the inconvenience. All that aside, the boys are tackling a more recent movie, one that came out just last year in fact, and comparing it to the first theatrical interpretation of the Hellboy source material done by Guillermo del Toro no less. Is the new adaptation more faithful to the original source material? No idea, neither of our hosts have read the comics! This episode contains Disney's lack of care for Cinderella, a quick game of Lovecraft or not Lovecraft, Jeffery Tambor (uh-oh!), and ponderings on the importance of Lobster Johnson!  All this and more on They Remade It! Plot Synopsis Timestamps: 18:00 - 33:00 ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 33: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and Rat Race (2001)

    25/03/2020 Duração: 01h36min

The boys are tackling two films with all-star casts this time around (debatable in regards to the latter), and Stuart and Jacob need to decide whether that means a film is inherently good or not. Chances are, that answer will be no. Also be known that in this episode we have the longest Full Circle to date, so be prepared for that! This episode contains Sonic talk, discussion on the disappearance of famous personalities, how chaotic is too chaotic in film, and of course... Hitler's car!  All this and more on They Remade It! • Episode 32: Beauty and the Beast (1991) and (2017)

    26/02/2020 Duração: 01h32min

In what is officially the fourth Disney Animated Masterpiece being covered on this very podcast, Stuart and Jacob look at 1991 Best Picture nominee Beauty and the Beast and its 2017 remake of the same name. Does the reputation of the terrible live-action remake ring true with one of Disney's most beloved classics? The boys are gonna find out! This episode contains a brief discussion on the Oscars (primarily Parasite), celebrate the brilliance of Sir Ian McKellen, whether or not over-designing is inherently awful, and the true meaning of Ohana.  All this and more on They Remade It! • Episode 31: The Muppet Movie (1979) and The Muppets (2011)

    05/02/2020 Duração: 01h36min

It's season 3, and it's starting off right with laughs and japes as the duo discuss the first Muppet film and compare it to the franchise's big comeback in 2011. And with the episode comes the perfect test case, as Stuart has little to no prior knowledge of the history of the characters before this. Well, besides Muppet Christmas Carol, and really who doesn't love that film? This episode has discussion on The Muppets as a franchise, the current relevance of Green Eggs & Ham, Michael Caine's wonderful turn as Ebeneezer Scrooge, and Jacob's apparent hatred for Lew Zealand.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 30: The Year in Review (2019)

    31/12/2019 Duração: 02h42min

Another year comes to a close, and the duo are attempting to look back fondly on this previous decade. Well, not necessarily in the episode as that is primarily focused on 2019, but they are being positive. And why wouldn't they? 2019 marked new jobs for the both of them and a big move for Stuart! Throughout the course of this longer than average episode, Stuart and Jacob discuss varying aspects of the year, reviewing The Oscars, a few of the individuals that were lost, and they reflect on their favorite (and least favorite) films that they saw this past year. Happy Holidays and to a prosperous new year! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 29: The Godfather Trilogy (1972), (1974), and (1990)

    27/12/2019 Duração: 02h25min

Due to a rendering issue that pushed the release of this episode back two days, this episode is releasing a little late. But better late than never as some schmuck once said. Neither Stuart nor Jacob had seen any of the Godfather movies in full up to this point, and they decided to rectify that! This, of course, is to varying results. What can be said about these films that hasn't already been said? As it turns out, not much, but they did it anyways! This episode has discussion on Disney+, Sofia Coppola's acting decisions, Robert De Niro's delightful turn as a young Vito Corleone, and the Part IV to the series that only kinda/sorta happened.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 28: The Omen (1976) and (2006)

    06/11/2019 Duração: 01h37min

Closing out the month of October, or perhaps the beginning of November, is another horror/thriller film that had Stuart and Jacob pleasantly surprised. Whereas last year they only got to do one "Halloween movie", this time around they get to tackle a second. And of course it had to be on a film that has both Atticus Finch himself AND the irreplaceable David Warner. Though, both boys agree that maybe the latter should've gone with a different hairstyle. This episode has talks on Spielberg's library of films (again), the Dumbledore Cycle, some disdain for jump-scares, and Jacob's ever changing opinion on The Criterion Collection.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 26: Frankenstein (1931) and Young Frankenstein (1974)

    18/10/2019 Duração: 01h20min

The boys get back to another horror film, harking back to last year's Halloween horror fest. We'll bet Jacob is beyond pleased. Frankenstein and Young Frankenstein were both classics and pioneers in their own right, just for different genres, And this time around, Stuart and Jacob compare these two cinematic staples to the best of their abilities. Which, to be fair, doesn't say a whole lot . This episode has discussion on the original Mary Shelly novel, Gene Hackman's surprise role, Marty Feldman's camera mugging, and the return of Stuart and Jacob's film suggestions!.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 26: The Music Man (1962) and (2003)

    25/09/2019 Duração: 01h28min

Not since The Little Shop of Horrors episode have we had a full musical to talk about. Let alone two of them! Not many remember (or know for that matter) about the Disney helmed 2003 remake of The Music Man, let alone that Matthew Broderick was in the starring role. However, Jacob and Stuart do! Somehow. This episode also has (surprise!) more musical talk, another actor related to The Andy Griffith Show, a search for a Disney film based on an original idea, and discussion on how two identical films an be so different.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 25: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) and (2008)

    28/08/2019 Duração: 01h49min

The duo gets back to science fiction as they talk about both of these moral-laden pictures. Will the original's ironically more down-to-earth themes overshadow its successor? Or will Keanu Reeves steal the show in what is arguably a more thrilling adaptation? As always, only one real way to find out! This episode also contains talk on both of the Netflix Nickelodeon specials, discussion on delightful acting from Kathy Bates to Frances Bavier, a possible extended ending for the original film, and endless talks on The Twilight Zone.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 24: The Nutty Professor (1963) and (1996)

    07/08/2019 Duração: 01h28min

After years of talking about Jerry Lewis off the air, Stuart and Jacob finally sit down and get the chance to discuss one film he was in, and the same film produced by him and starring Eddie Murphy. Which film do they find funnier, or do they even find either funny at all? Only one way to find out! This episode also contains discussion on the new Lion King remake, insult comics, gross-out humor in the 90's, and what purpose film critics actually serve.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 23: Spider-Man (2002) and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

    17/07/2019 Duração: 01h20min

Many have been talking about why it is that Spider-Man has received so many remakes in the past two decades, but is this really the question that should be being asked? Stuart and Jacob are going to attempt to find out! Even if it means coming up with some less-than-popular opinions along the way. This episode also contains talks on Toy Story 4, Willem Dafoe's scenery chewing, some thoughts from the duo on New York, and why we need more lighthearted superhero flicks.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 22: The Secret of NIMH (1982) and The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (1998)

    20/06/2019 Duração: 01h25min

Well, they've finally done it. It seems that Stuart and Jacob are finally looking at a film that could very well be objectively poorly made. Of course, when compared to a film with such esteem as The Secret of NIMH, its a wonder that a sequel so long after the fact was even attempted in the first place. Regardless, find out their qualms with not just the sequel, but also the original feature! This episode also contains discussion on Spielberg cartoons, bargain-bin flicks, Dom DeLuise, and the mystery of MGM Kids.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Q&A 1: Michael Bay and Tim Curry

    12/06/2019 Duração: 01h32min

Something a little different this time around as Stuart and Jacob ask each other some questions in order to properly display their thought process and beliefs regarding movies, actors/actresses, and viewing habits. Normal episodes will still be coming out at the regular rate, this is just a little in between that was done. Enjoy! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 21: Alice in Wonderland (1951) and (2010)

    29/05/2019 Duração: 01h29min

Fall down the rabbit hole into Wonderland (or Underland) as Stuart and Jacob take a look at the two Disney adaptations of the timeless classic, Alice in Wonderland. Does the animated version hold up at all in this day and age? Does the Tim Burton adaptation deserve the flack it's been getting in recent years? These two certainly don't have the answers, but they'll stumble their way through it anyways. This episode also contains discussion on the new DuckTales (yes, again), British idioms and phrases, Thurl Ravenscroft, and the rut that Danny Elfman has created for himself.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 20: M (1931) and M (1951)

    08/05/2019 Duração: 01h27min

Taking on a German film with the impeccable Peter Lorre is one thing, but what about comparing it to a remake that seemingly no one knows or cares about? Now that would be something, and this week that is exactly what is covered in both versions of M. How does America handle taking on Fritz Lang's magnum opus (his words)? Press play and find out! This episode also contains discussion on Endgame and Game of Thrones (spoiler free!), German expressionism, the importance of a good poster, and the Hollywood blacklist.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 19: The Borrowers (1997) and The Secret World of Arrietty (2010)

    17/04/2019 Duração: 01h30min

Back to anime! Well, on one account. The other film being discussed is a raucous family comedy from the 90's starring John Goodman (and no, it isn't "Mouse Hunt". John Goodman isn't in "Mouse Hunt"). We couldn't have two films more opposite this time around, with one being low and meditative and the other screaming in your face every 5 minutes. This episode also contains the discussion of the new Dumbo film, US dubbing vs UK dubbing, why Stuart and Jacob AREN'T Siskel and Ebert, and, of course, gross-out humor.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

  • Episode 18: The Thief of Bagdad (1924) and The Thief of Bagdad (1940)

    27/03/2019 Duração: 01h24min

For the first time in the short history of the show, one of the films Stuart and Jacob are talking about is a silent picture! Is it effective in it's storytelling? Or is it beaten out by it's much more talkative remake from 16 years after the fact. Tune in to find out! This episode also contains the discussion on the benefits of silent cinema, flat-earth culture, blue-screening vs green-screening, and the holy trinity of fetishes.  All this and more on They Remade It! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com
