Ep. 1.4.20: The 12 Days of Trump Christmas
05/01/2020 Duração: 36minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Dave sings a very special "12 Days of Christmas" for our supreme leader, then muses on the new year and the fascist threat 2020 ushers in with it. It is a very fraught new year indeed, which figures to have this country fighting for its life. In addition to Trump, we discuss some of the other trash that has been in the news over the holidays; mostly of the privileged rich variety, but we also discuss the meaning of having a sociopathic murderer become the darling of the President of the United States and his political faction (band of cronies). Finally, speaking of Trump's henchmen, Dave looks at the latest seemingly-quixotic Democratic hopes of convincing four Republican Senators to care about the US Constitution and their oaths of office. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS Forward Nation Radio with Professor David Leventhal If you love what you heard, Like Us and

Ep. 12.21.19: IMPEACHMENT! (It's only a model)
21/12/2019 Duração: 37minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: The House takes a historic vote to impeach the President of the United States for only the third time in history. The impact of the moment, however, is seriously undermined by a criminal political organization, the GOP, whose members regard the US Constitution and US laws as inapplicable to themselves. Republican determination to turn the effort to preserve the US Constitution into a theater of the absurd prevents the House from even forwarding the Articles of Impeachment to a criminal Senate masterminded by Moscow Mitch. How does America survive this? (Sorry, we don't answer that question, we just ask it.) Also, the latest on false equivalences from the paper of record show why saving America is so likely to be a losing proposition; we continue to reward criminals and liars by failing to note what they are, and how they are different from those who believe in rules, accountability...and truth. Speaking of which, two GOP-approved judges strike

Ep. 12.7.19: Saving us From False Equivalences (and the Evils of Socialism!)
07/12/2019 Duração: 44minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Happy D-Day?! We commemorate the day Donald Trump single-handedly saved a US state from the Chinese. Then Dave turns serious...serious as a presidential impeachment, which is proceeding at a rapid pace. Bill Maher has a tremendously problematic "can't we all just get along?" moment, so Dave has a "can't we all just making stop false equivalences?" show. For good and for bad, the left continues to demonstrate why efforts to find equivalencies between a flawed political party and a criminal organization and its adherents are flawed and dangerous. We discuss the vast differences between left and right in the way we treat ideas, education, the planet, and each other. Dave gets personal for a few minutes in discussing being a victim of vandalism. His personal property was destroyed by someone who was attacking socialists for...(wait for it!)...not respecting other people's property! Seriously. And we are supposed to treat these jackasses with respect?

Ep. 11.28.19: Giving Thanks For Impeachment--And The Bureaucrats Who Make It Possible!
29/11/2019 Duração: 48minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Dave's takeaways from the impeachment hearings. The slam dunk case for impeachment, how dangerous is Trump to this country, the Republican criminal organization, and how vast the swamp is under Donald Trump. What the hearings tell us about Democrats and the American public as well. We also take this opportunity to define extortion and bribery for our listeners who may not have an extensive background in criminal behavior. Finally, we give thanks to the bureaucrats for their service, and for making this impeachment possible. Also, Trump declares war not just on our institutions, the constitution, our values, and the American people, but now the US Navy as well...all on behalf of murderers and war criminals. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS Forward Nation Radio with Professor David Leventhal If you love what you heard, Like Us and share on Facebook - Instagram - Twi

Ep. 11.23.19: What Trump Is NOT Being Impeached For!
23/11/2019 Duração: 45minIn the midst of the overwhelming case for the impeachment of Donald Trump, and Republican talking points about a Democratic coup, we thought it would be a good idea to talk about some of the things that Democrats have chosen not to impeach Donald Trump for. Turns out, the many instances of misconduct that are not subjecting Trump to impeachment make a pretty overwhelming case as well. As the unprecedented scale of his misconduct numbs us to Trump's continuing misdeeds, it is good to be reminded of some of the myriad reasons we need to save ourselves from him...and his party! We review just some of his crimes, both common and extraordinary. Just some of the threats he poses to this country and to the entire planet. Just a sampling of the threats posed by Trump and his ilk to the future of our children. And we consider anew that there is no equivalence between our two political parties.

Ep. 11.8.19: Masters of the Universe
08/11/2019 Duração: 38minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Just in time for our show this week on the evils of the super-rich, finance billionaire Michael Bloomberg may be about to enter the presidential race. Apparently filling the great need in our government for someone to pursue the interests of Wall Street billionaires. We think billionaires already have way too much power and this week's special episode is going to advance that argument. We do also address some of the big news of the week, which say a lot about how lucrative it is to be rich. California continues to burn with a primary assist from climate change, but a new report says that while many homeowners are being devastated, the rich are making out like bandits. And the Trump administration says it will roll-back rules designed to limit coal plants' ability to dump poisonous metals in our water supply; so even not poisoning children and cleaning up after themselves are too much for the rich. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitc

Ep. 11.2.19: Impeachment Wac-A-Mole
03/11/2019 Duração: 35minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: As each defense of their criminal president gets shot down by one witness after another, Trump's GOP water carriers just pop up with another dishonest defense elsewhere; only to have the lies from their plastic rodent heads batted down again. Yes, we discuss the latest on impeachment. But first, we deal with some of the latest news. Trump gets booed at the World Series in a victory for--sorry GOP--both free speech and democracy. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead, an event worthy of celebration, and one which Trump is taking credit for, but actively undermined. A victory for democracy in a North Carolina state court ruling on democracy reminds us how large the war for democracy is. Finally, some reminders this week about our ruling class, as Boeing's CEO testifies in front of congress and says he feels bad about the 346 people he murdered...for more money. And a blast from the past as formerly-imprisoned junk-bond king Michael Milken is back

Ep. 10.19.19: Democratic Debate: Version 4.12?
19/10/2019 Duração: 46minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: In order to fully cover the recent 3-hour Democratic debate, Dave will NOT talk about the latest corruption from President Trump or his administration, will NOT talk about his childish meltdown with congressional leaders, will NOT talk about which of his henchmen have committed the most indictable offenses in the past week, and will NOT even argue that Nancy Pelosi is rubber and he is glue (and the real third-grader). And Dave will only talk a very little bit about impeachment. Dave will spend the show talking about the takeaways from the debate. What can we continue to learn from them and about the candidates? Dave goes all-in on the idea that while half a loaf may be better than none, a full loaf is the thing really worth fighting for. Also, who distinguished themselves and who should be thinking about their upcoming run for...something other than President. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE THE HOME

Ep. 10.14.19: Betrayal! and, The Four Henchmen of the Apocalypse
14/10/2019 Duração: 45minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: We will look at the latest happenings in the impeachment investigation of Trump's betrayal of America. First, however, we look at his betrayal of the Syrian Kurds and discuss its place in the long and sordid history of Republican betrayals of Kurds. We examine what may have moved Trump to reverse long-time US policy in a way that even Republicans disapprove of...and which has Pat Robertson threatening his evangelical mandate from heaven. We look at Trump's henchmen, and wonder who will be the next to turn--or be turned on. For an answer, we look to which criminals are liable to head to prison first (not counting Rudy Giuliani's just-indicted mafia-like friends). Republican willingness to debase themselves for Trump might appear boundless, but is it beginning to reach its limit? Finally, we answer a listener's questions about democracy and the American voter. Are voters right to feel estranged from their government, and thus to refuse to particip

Ep. 10.5.19: It Can't Be Bad If It Feels This Good (And I Keep Doing It). The Donald Trump Impeachment Defense...and what he tells Melania
06/10/2019 Duração: 35minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: We look in more detail at the many...err, 1 impeachable offense that is the subject of congressional impeachment investigation. We look at what the crime is, the fact that he obviously did it, and that it is a big deal that must end in his removal from office. We look at some of the other crimes he has committed in just the last couple of weeks, and we consider the "impeachability" of his henchmen (and the worst ever name for a law firm) Pompeo, Barr, Giuliani and Pence. We also look at the Trump defense strategy of attacking, lying, obfuscating, minimizing, and appealing to playing the victim to appeal to his aggrieved white base. How should Democrats conduct the investigation (hint: turn over every crooked leaf) and how likely is Trump to get away with this. We look briefly at what is the truly problematic aspect of the Hunter Biden fiasco: privilege. We look at that affair in the context of our ongoing discussions on the true nature of the

9.24.19: IMPEACHMENT!...(inquiry).
24/09/2019 Duração: 39minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Trump finally forces the Dems' hand, as they use the "I" word (and not the one Trump likes). We talk about what finally compelled the Dems to utilize the last best hope for preserving what passes for democracy in the US. Anticipating the future, we comment on the false equivalence fallacy that continues to figure too prominently in our culture. When it comes to respecting democracy, the constitution, the flag, and our institutions...as well as the country, the planet, and basic human decency, we really need to stop equating the two political parties. We will talk about the mistakes we make, and why we make them. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS Forward Nation Radio with Professor David Leventhal If you love what you heard, Like Us and share on Facebook - Instagram - Twitter

Ep. 9.17.19: Democratic Debate-Round 3
18/09/2019 Duração: 45minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Dave analyzes the issues addressed in round 3 of the Democratic debates, the first in which all the top candidates appeared on stage together. Dave provides his insights into health care, taxes, guns, racism, immigration, the economy, climate change and education. We also discuss the civility of the debate, the contrast with the other political party, the continuing influence of the progressive candidates, and the number one takeaway from the debate: that one of these people needs to defeat Donald Trump...and badly!

Ep. 9.11.19: Competition: In Praise of Giving Every Kid A Trophy!
11/09/2019 Duração: 41minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: We examine our competitive natures. We take it as a given in this country that competition is good, but could our reverence for it prevent us from identifying it as a source of many of our ills? I confess to being a convert in support of the give-every-kid-a-trophy ideal, and wonder why it took me so long to come around. Also, much of the big news of the week. Walmart and other retailers take embarrassingly-small baby steps regarding guns. President Trump's third, and longest-serving, National Security Adviser is fired. Or did he quit? (Someone may be telling the truth here.) We examine the legacy of John Bolton. The President again demonstrates that he is likely the nation's number one security threat who cannot be trusted with sensitive information; did he out a crucial CIA asset? The President brandishes a sharpie and thus shows his supporters he can control the weather. The latest Trump comedy of lies reveals too much about his values and his

Ep. 8.31.19: Happy War-on-Labor Day!
31/08/2019 Duração: 38minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: We celebrate Labor Day, even as the governing political party continues to celebrate War-on-Labor Day. The administration and Republican party continue to engage in their war on labor in every way imaginable, including through the naming of an anti-labor shill to head the Labor Department, the continued dismantling of the regulatory state, and its continuing war on immigrant and citizen workers. Also, David Koch dies. And we acknowledge the memory of a sort-of-human by addressing his legacy of destruction and by shedding crocodile tears. And his spawn, President Mr. Bean, goes to the G7 meeting in Europe and continues to embarrass and marginalize the US on the world stage...or the sales floor, as he would (and did) have it. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE THE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS Forward Nation Radio with Professor David Leventhal If you love what you heard, Like Us and share on Facebook

Ep. 8.22.19: Trump, Bibi, and the Continuing War on Decency
23/08/2019 Duração: 37minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Trump once again calls for election help from a foreign leader; this time it's Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he successfully enlists in his war against the US congress, proving again that these two deserve each other, while we deserve better. Then Trump engages in anti-Semitic tropes in an effort to, seriously, gain Jewish votes. We will analyze why any US Jews might support the Hitler-wannabe. We will also talk about the latest efforts to do nothing about mass gun carnage in the US, how lying piece of trash Sarah the Huckster officially got the reward that all Trump water-carriers get: a gig on fox news (which is basically the same as what she had when she worked directly for Trump, only it pays better). We do--again--briefly address the question of what it means that the most popular fake-news channel in the US is blatant propaganda...blatant except to the idiots who watch it. Republicans continue their efforts to suppress votes, Trump pic

Ep. 8.10.19: Racist Mass Murder Inspired by President Trump
11/08/2019 Duração: 40minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: Our recent question of whether the President would be held accountable for the inevitable results of his calls for racist violence is tested all-too-quickly with the Trump-inspired mass killings in El Paso and Dayton. We discuss how US anti-terrorism policy and US gun policy are determined by a political party that is both racist and willing to sell out this country for money. We ask how a civil society that hopes to survive can possibly consider reelecting this President and his party, whose treason extends well beyond that of Moscow Mitch. The need for a functioning President was made apparent this week by the latest evidence of the existential threat posed by climate change, as was the absence of such a President in the US. The failed nomination of a fox news lickspittle for Director of National Intelligence was further evidence of a President and a political party that do not care for this country. Jeffrey Epstein is dead under suspicious

Ep. 7.27.19: Daring to Dream Big...Or Not! And Goodbye to John Paul Stevens
27/07/2019 Duração: 42minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: The anniversary of Apollo 11, the death of Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, and lesser news items show us what we've lost over the last several decades, and how little we ask of ourselves. The moon landing shows us what we could be if we shared a national purpose...or at least a belief in science. Justice Stevens shows us what Republicans could be, if they had any empathy, compassion, intelligence, or decency. He also showed us what we should expect of the guardians of our constitution and rules of law, and how far we have come from that ideal. Robert Mueller's testimony and its aftermath show us just how fragile democracy is when you have a criminal as President, and how great is the threat to US democracy right now. California's deal with auto companies on fuel standards shows what is possible when government wants to govern. Puerto Rico shows us what can be accomplished by an energized citizenry; Boris Johnson shows us what's possible

Ep. 7.16.19: Privilege (and Entitlement)
16/07/2019 Duração: 39minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: The President of the US puts away the dog whistle and goes full racist in his tweet telling four US congresswomen to go back to their own countries. And his political party reacts swiftly and decisively to ...oh, never mind. We use this, the continuing saga of the serial child predator Jeffrey Epstein, and other items in the news--even a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert--to explore the concept of privilege, and how it poisons every aspect of our society. We consider the tragic irony of how privilege keeps the 99% from uniting against its true enemy: the privileged and entitled 1%.

Ep. 7.13.19: A July 4 Air Show to Rival the Original!
13/07/2019 Duração: 36minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: At the celebration of this country's independence, the President of the United States shows how little he knows about...anything! We explore how long this country will be willing to have him demean and embarrass us. We look to the latest news to continue to explore the horror of what we have become. As the continued actions of this administration and the words of the now-former British Ambassador and leaders around the world, allies and adversaries alike, continue to show us the vile nature of the US government, we pose the question to our listeners: what did you do to stop this? We pose that question in particular regarding the continuing crisis at our border and the very differing reactions to it. We also discuss the latest on child sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, and what his case says about the impact of privilege and its role in the mess that is our nation right now. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE

Ep. 7.3.19: July 4; Seeking a New Independence From Evil
03/07/2019 Duração: 33minTHE HOME FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICS This Week’s Discussion: As we celebrate this nation's independence, we are shown the horrors of what we have become, and how the 2020 election shapes up as a battle for this country's soul. We are heartened that Dems seem determined to make the election a battle of good vs. evil (not just not-so-evil vs. evil). Dave addresses how and why this country has become inured to the evil of its leaders. We start with a president who is credibly accused, once again, of being a rapist while the country collectively yawns. Then we review the horrors of what this administration, and the CBP, is doing to the most desperate and vulnerable people on the planet, including children. Then we talk about the latest reasons the US Supreme Court deserves no respect and why it is imperative that it be reconstituted after the 2020 elections, as it shamelessly advances the anti-democratic agenda of its political party. *Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher-Please SUBSCRIBE
