The Stranger In The Woods is a thrilling nonfic about the "last true hermit" Christopher Knight (here's the GQ article about him that preceded the book). Niall is loving Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Helen has starting watching Great Canadian Baking Show even though it makes her barfy when they touch everything too much, and she's been listening to its fun unofficial (but sort of official) podcast The Cooling Rack with Michael and James. Check these guys out! Lastly, The Wedding Crashers is one of Niall's faves of this comedy genre.

The buzz about the Emma Stone and Jonah Hill Netflix series Maniac is intense, but is this weird Japanese-inflected 80s-era dive into pharmaceutical trials/addiction/mental health any good? Niall finally watches Atlanta and he and Helen love it. Niall talks about Limitless, the Bradley Cooper version, and why he gets the appeal of the pill the movie centres around. The Post has the star power of Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, but do these two burn too brightly together? Niall discusses.

We're digging the Asian casting of To All The Boys I've Loved Before on Netflix, Niall is still fascinated by Slomo, the San Diego doctor who dropped out of the rat race to rollerblade (here's the Youtube NYTimes documentary, it's short), and Mission: Impossible was impossibly stylish, can anything else live up? We kick it off with the gong shows that are Bachelor in Paradise and Before the 90 Days. Enjoy!

Helen and Niall totally agree on this one: The IT Crowd. Starring Chris O'Dowd and a crew of lovable doofuses, it's a comedy that still holds up AND the very FINAL recent episode is on Netflix. Niall says Wall Street still holds up and talks about some of the filmmaking by Oliver Stone that makes it special. Helen is over the sexism about Ghostbusters redux and thinks it's a great, cute family film. 50/50 is an excellent film about a young guy with cancer, something both Helen and Niall have faced.

In this episode Helen and Niall discuss their favourite journalism movies. Niall thinks that The Paper evokes the excitement of daily news journalism. Helen talks about lifestyle journalism and the heydey of  magazines in Devil Wears Prada. Spotllight showcases the grind and tenacity needed to produce outstanding investigative journalism. They also talk about Megan Twohey, Harvey Weinstein, Ronan Farrow...and Million Dollar Listing New York, of course.

I Love You Man with Paul Rudd is one of Niall's picks this week, Helen has some feelings about Queer Eye Season Two, its quick return is the subject of this USA Today article. The Disaster Artist with James Franco is a film about The Room by Tommy Wiseau. One thing about how magazine writers are portrayed drives Helen crazy, she discusses a recent scene with Carole Radziwill in Real Housewives in New York. Lastly, The Bachelorette comes up (of course), which was partly pre-empted by Trump and Kim Jong Un BUT we still got to the bottom of the ambulance scene.
