Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is alive! We celebrate that our Saviour, the one who gave all for us now lives in every believer that calls Him Lord through the Spirit. We give thanks for the forgiveness and redemption we have in Christ. We give thanks also for the wondrous diversity of our God who created every human being in the image of God.We celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility and our siblings of all genders, no genders, and all sexual orientations. On Palm Sunday we celebrate the day that Jesus came to town. The people celebrating as their King rides in on a donkey- shouts of Hosannah, Hosannah-save us-He will and He does just not the way they thought. The people had been oppressed under Roman rule and wanted vindication.But what happens when the Romans are gone? We would still be oppressed by the sin that weighs us down. Jesus died in our place to vindicate us in the eyes of God-to remove our sin by taking it onto himself. Over two weeks we will attempt to share the hope that we find in the book of Revelation. Revelation is the book where we hear the testimony of Jesus through the imagery of John who shares what he sees and hears in this prophetic work. In week two we see how good and evil battle for influence. We see the heart of God to get our attention and welcome all people to come into the family of God. Lastly we see how the victory won at the cross was finalised as the enemy is now destroyed and God's people live in perfect peace. What kind of trust does it take to say to God. "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! Welcome to week two on the book of Philippians. What does it mean to be grounded in Christ's love? Paul explains that what it DOESN'T mean is listening to the self-righteous who tell you to be or do something in order to be saved. Paul says it's the circumcised heart, the heart that says I can't in my own strength but in Christ I can do all things.The one who began a good work in me will continue this work. In our last week of Advent we look at the topic of love. A world of chaos and confusion, where fear grips us and hurts happen, a world where we become weary. In a world separated from God, a light was coming that changed everything. What started out as confusion became clear in the light of God’s presence. Christmas changed the world. Gay Christians are sometimes left wondering if this great love is for them as well. MJ shares how he was confused about this at one time until Christ made it clear that he is totally loved and accepted by Christ as a gay man. Jesus is our source of Joy. He now lives in us. We can see this kind of unfaltering joy when we look to Jesus who for the joy set before Him went to the cross. What joy? The joy of completing what God had sent Him to do-to save me and you, to bring us back into the family. We can experience joy even in times of suffering when we understand that the source of our joy resides inside us and has conquered all ultimate suffering on the cross. Before Jesus died on the cross he told his disciples he would leave them His peace as a gift. After his resurrection Jesus appears to the disciples who were hiding, fearful for their lives and says "Peace be with You" now go and do what I have been doing. This kind of peace is not an absence of war and chaos, this peace is a person. Jesus our Prince of Peace now residing in us. In this world we will have trouble but we can also experience peace because Jesus overcame the world. We're told many times as Christians that the greatest thing we can do for the Kingdom is to work real hard and produce as much fruit as possible. Just saying that can be exhausting. The greatest thing we can do for the Kingdom is to stay connected to the King. Abiding in Christ is our greatest reward and our greatest source of the nutrients we need to live a fruitful life in His strength. Allow the fruit of the Spirit, power, and wisdom come to you by staying connected to Christ....a fruitful life is the result. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Eyesight produces a conviction about objects in the physical world. Faith produces the same convictions for things unseen. Faith shows itself by producing assurance within us that what we hope for will happen. Faith also provides insight into realities which otherwise remain unseen. A person with faith lets these unseen realities from God produce power for living out our faith in daily life. Faith in action makes the unseen become seen.
