As we continue through the month of October, the Good Brothers return to another Batman: The Animated Series episode covered in the early days of the podcast, this week with Special Guest Correspondent Ted Kendrick of Watchtower Database and TedKendrick.com. The Good Brothers are continuing the Batman: The Animated Series 30th anniversary celebration with a unique month of reviews, choosing to revisit some of the episodes that they tackled very early on in the podcast's run. The Good Brothers have taken September to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series and take the last week of the month to honor the character created for the show that is celebrating her own anniversary, has gone on to be one of DC Comic's most valuable and widely known intellectual properties, Harley Quinn. For only the second time this year, the Good Brothers are headed back to the future for a month of reviews that take place "50 years from now, whenever now is..." - starting with the Batman Beyond episode "Payback." The Good Brothers take one last look into the mad Elseworlds of DC Animation with a review of another version of The Boy Wonder, as chosen by the listeners of the podcast! And unsurprisingly the winner of the poll was overwhelmingly in favor of Young Justice which leads the hosts to review the season one episode "Homefront." With an episode that focuses on the differences between a seasoned veteran in Robin and a fairly new hero in Artemis, the hosts talk about a plot that has one storyline and one that deals with both classic comic book tropes for defeating robots and the often overlooked mental-health aspect of our main heroes. For the next several episodes the Good Brothers are taking a trip around the multiverse to celebrate various versions of Robin, the Boy Wonder! Kicking things off they're reviewing the Teen Titans episode "Masks" which features one of the most pivotal moments in the entire series with the introduction of the mysterious "Red X" character. Hear the hosts discuss how the quick pace lends to the surprise reveal of the Red X's identity and why the soundtrack feels like it may belong in a Neo-Gotham setting. Cal and Liam how a small cast benefits this episode and putting characters in situations not normally associated with them allowed the voice actors to show their range of emotion, and the differences between Ron Perlman's Clayface and his Slade performances. Not to be out done by voice acting, the visuals which feature a unique brush stroke background, the Red X character model and several neat tricks designed to blend the Eastern and Western animation styles are also highlighted in the discussion.
