  • Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast – Episode 0046 – God Songs

    09/10/2009 Duração: 35min

Well, I have to admit, I’m very excited about this podcast. The topic we’re starting to talk about this week is one that is huge for me. It’s something I’ve been interested in since I was a teenager, and was in fact my first real passion in music. That is the art of songwriting. It is most definitely an art and a craft, one that I’m very passionate about. Kevin & I have been talking about doing a series on songwriting for quite some time now, and we’re thrilled to be getting started. When this topic first came up, we decided we’d want to give it quite a bit of thought so that our end result was more methodical than whimsical. That was when we decided not to reinvent the wheel. Instead, we’re going to be going through the book God Songs by Paul Baloche & Jimmy & Carol Owens. (If you click on the title, it will take you directly to the store on Paul’s site where you can buy your own copy of the book.) By the way, if you haven’t checked out Paul’s Site: leadworship.com, you should do that. There are

Well, that wasn’t the case for Kevin in this episode. He has just returned from a conference and he has a lot of great information to share with you that I enjoyed listening to, so I’m sure you will too. The conference that Kevin went to was the Deeper Conference. Also, if you’d like to check out Paul Baloche’s website, you can do so by clicking here. If you’re a faithful listening to the worship ministry catalyst podcast, we would love to hear from you and we’d also love it if you’d take the time to share us with your friends and other worship leaders you know. Whether you’re new or have been listening for quite some time, we would love to hear form you, as well as we would really appreciate some good feedback on iTunes, if you don’t mind taking a minute to do so that would be awesome! • Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast – Episode 0038 – Flow

    10/06/2009 Duração: 34min

Do you know what I’m talking about? You know….(long awkward pause)…. quiet song …… (long awkward pause with weird, random instrument noises) …. Loud song (scared to death from the shock of the loud sound, heart rate jumps through the roof). ….. beuler….beuler…. Etc. Picking up from last week’s episode we’re talking once again about creativity, and specifically about how to create good flow when we’re incorporating some of these creative elements. We don’t want the people whom we are trying to lead in worship to be victims of a worship tsunami, we want them to enjoy worship flow. If you have some insight to offer on this topic, we’d love to hear from you. And yet, for some reason, we keep doing the same old thing. In this edition of the Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast, David & Kevin talk about breaking out of that box and trying to do something different. I don’t want to spill the beans, so you should just listen to it! If you have some insight to offer on this topic, we’d love to hear from you. • Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast – Episode 0030 – Being too hard on ourselves

    25/03/2009 Duração: 38min

In this week’s episode, David and Kevin talk about “Being too hard on ourselves.” As musicians and artists, we have a tendency to only be pleased with how we perform when the performance is perfect, at least to us. It might not actually be perfect, but it’s perfect to us, we don’t notice any flaws. When that happens, we’re happy. When that doesn’t happen, we beat ourselves up thinking of all the things we could have done differently (not matter how small) to make it better. • Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast – Episode 0029 – Technological Recontextualization

    18/03/2009 Duração: 33min

Os Guinness said in his book Prophetic Untimeliness, “After two hundred years of earnest dedication to reinventing the faith and the church and to being more relevant in the world, we are confronted with an embarrassing fact: Never have Christians pursued relevance more strenuously; never have Christians been more irrelevant.” In this week’s episode, David and Kevin breach the topic of “Technological Recontextualizaion” that was brought up at the Recent CB Northwest Conference by Senior Pastor Scott Reavely of New Life Church (formerly known as West Linn First Baptist) We don’t get very far down this road, but it’s definitely a road worth traveling down. I’m sure this is a topic that will come up again and again as we continue to think about how we do Worship Ministry in the Local Church.
