  • TCND: Knives and Forks and Andrew Tate (Squeeze the Ham!)

    20/01/2025 Duração: 50min

Let's get this things started, Neighbor!  Who needs the Comedian?! John wants to ask Luke a sincere question about knives...  But Luke has some strange utensil habits. (And this reminds us of the Double Sauce Fiasco...)  So many contradictions! Then: Do we need a "Christian Andrew Tate"?  What would that even look like?  Christians love the idea of being able to win people to Christ by being cool and popular. But that's not the method of spreading the Gospel that seems to be described in Scripture. Later: What's the difference between a "role model" and an "authority figure?" 13/01/2025 Duração: 51min

Pour yourself a steaming cup of water and join us at the table! Keep some distance from the baby or he might hit you with his butternut squash... What's the protocol for giving someone a pet as a gift?  (Luke and his sister receieved rabbits one year.  It was traumatic.) Later: Is there any podcast doing more work for the Kingdom of God than Joe Rogan? He hosted an Old Testament scholar recently...and probably millions of people are going to be saved as a result.   Contact the Comedian's family at nextdoor@johnbranyan.com/

  • TCND Baby Names, Snow or No? and Much Ado about NOTHING

    06/01/2025 Duração: 47min

This is a pretty meandering conversation at the table...  How popular is Bridger's name?  There's snow in the forecast, but we'll believe it when we see it... Also--Luke is wearing a fur coat that (he thinks) makes him look like he's ready to overthrow a Roman dictator.  At some point, we touch on how to get Artificial Intelligence to write our books for us.Later:  There's a place called "Vender City" in Kokomo.  Have you ever heard of that? Is it a chain? Probably not.If any of our rambling thoughts triggered some of YOUR rambling thoughts, send them to us here:  nextdoor@johnbranyan.com

    30/12/2024 Duração: 48min

Hey, Neighbor! Please send your messages of shame for Luke to: nextdoor@johnbranyan.com . There are many things we can abide, but removing the cream cheese frosting from the middle of a pumkin roll is NOT one of them... Next: Grandpa John and Grandma Lori bought the annoying gifts this year. But there was PLENTY of music at Christmas! We love singing, and most of us can hear when we're doing it badly. So that's something! Then: What is it about musical theater that is so captivating! (Spoilers, it's EVERYTHING.)  With LIVE theater, you never see the same show twice! It's sooooo cool!  Don't forget the subtitles...and sing like you don't realize someone is listening. Later: It's annoying when people with "ADHD" describe what goes on in their heads, as if it's not totally normal. The difference between someone with ADHD and someone who gets to church on time is discipline.  That's it!   Be on the lookout for John's new children's book.  He was able to write it because he has learne

The McKinney Kids appeared in THE "A Christmas Carol" this weekend...  Tis the season to LIE TO YOUR KIDS! There won't be a problem, provided everyone gets together and agrees to tell the SAME lie! (The social worker said so.) Then: Luke and John endured a fairly brutal show this week. It wasn't the audience's fault! But they just didn't feel like laughing.  Later: Why was there so much horsemeat in Victorian England? We still don't know. But the cats were happy about it.  Contact the Comedian's Family at nextdoor@johnbranyan.com

We played disc golf today. But we aren't going to talk about that! The Comedian got an email from a random phone number...asking whether it's appropriate for Christians to buy a violent video game for a disadvantaged kid as a Christmas gift.   So... let's talk about Church Giving Trees! (You know what those are, right, Neighbor? Those trees where you pick an ornament and buy a gift for a needy stranger?...) Later: Sheila Gregoire is man-hating again. Later: One of John's friends just became a grandparent for the first time, and....well....  (shrug) Will it be the best day of your life, when you grandkids are born??? We discuss why the most well-adjusted people seem to be unimpressed with newborns...   Contact the Comedian's family:  nextdoor@johnbranyan.com

Also, should we just ask for "God's Will" to be done every time, or is that kind of a cop-out? Later: A woman's 10-year-old daughter suddenly stopped walking, and she wants to help you learn how to buy crutches for your child as well.   (That sounds sensational, but she DOES have a Parenting Course.)  Let us explain why social media is full of this nonsense...
