Sinopse
The Dangerous & Delicate Balancing Act Between Your Dream Job and Your Day Job Formerly titled Real Person | Real Needs This podcast chronicles the journey of a 30-something who is trying to discover his purpose in life and make his dreams a reality. Geoff Desiato is a husband and father of two, with the responsibility to provide for his family. He's a proud high-school graduate who has worked full-time since he was 17 years old. But after 13 years of working for “The Man,” and being told that he needed to go back to school if he wanted to be successful, Geoff experienced a pre-mid-life crisis. Like many people, Geoff had passions and dreams but not the ability or confidence to pursue them. For instance, he is an aspiring actor and semi-professional singer. With the support of his wife, Geoff decided it was time to find a suitable career that would allow him to pursue his dreams while still providing for his family and doing something he loved. So Geoff set out on his entrepreneurial journey by diving into the Real Estate industry. Upon getting his first taste of self-employment, Geoff became fascinated with entrepreneurship, and has since dedicated his time and energy to helping people who feel trapped in their day jobs discover how they are uniquely positioned to change the world! This podcast is for people who struggle with balancing their day job while pursuing their dream job. Formerly titled Real Person | Real Needs For fans of Jon Acuff, Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, as well as the podcasts Millennial and This American Life

060: “Making God Laugh” | New Home | Anxiety | Ego | Part-time Job
14/06/2017 Duração: 16minIt's been over a month, and it's two days late, but I am finally back with a new episode! This last month has been one of the most challenging since I began pursuing my dream. That's why I haven't been as active on the podcast and the blog. But there are a lot of exciting things still in the works. I think I've aged a year or two in the last month due to stress but I am clinging to God to get me through and I am thankful that He has continued to provide for me and my family even if I am often too blinded by my anxiety to see it. [INTERVIEW REPLAY] Karin Wolfle, Entrepreneur and Founder of The Shabby Attic
29/05/2017 Duração: 30minIn this episode, I sit down with Karin Wolfle, entrepreneur/artist behind The Shabby Attic in Lansdale, PA. Having left behind a career in the mental health field, Karin decided to pursue her love of fine arts by starting her own business. She soon realized that being an entrepreneur requires a little bit of “crazy,” and whole lot more elbow grease. While she admittedly (and candidly) has been through many trials personally and professionally, she hopes to use both her degrees in fine arts, and in psychology, to not only bring new life and purpose to old furniture, but by inspiring others with her story of overcoming adversity and making the most of second chances. You can follow Karin and see her work at www.facebook.com/TheShabbyAttic or on Instagram @ theshabbyatticlady

[INTERVIEW REPLAY] “The Sultan of Silver” George Bruno, Entrepreneur & Personal Care Expert
22/05/2017 Duração: 36minIn this episode, I sit down with “The Sultan of Silver” himself, George Bruno. To say that George is a professionally licensed barber is almost like doing him a disservice. I prefer to use the term Renaissance Man. Whether he’s posting videos of beard grooming tips, sharing random insights on father/son relationships and cigars, or simply enjoying a summer evening while listening to Sinatra, George is truly comfortable in his own skin. Something which he uses to his advantage when driving his business. If you are looking for a straight razor shave and a great conversation, George is your guy. But be sure to block out enough time, with George, you can never run out of things to talk about. You can find more info about George @georgeabruno on Instagram, his YouTube Channel "Gray Bailey," and his website www.georgebruno.com

[INTERVIEW REPLAY] Marianne Lynch, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County
15/05/2017 Duração: 44minBack in the early days of the podcast, I had the privilege of interviewing several inspiring individuals who are trying to make a difference in their community as well as in the world of business. Over the next few weeks I wanted to share those conversations with you in case you hadn't had a chance to hear them. My family and I are in the process of relocating so this will give us the much needed time to do that while still providing you with some quality episodes that you may have missed. In this episode, I sit down with Marianne Lynch, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, PA. She shares her heart for the work that she does and provides context by telling the story of her journey to doing work that she loves.

056: “Fighting Your Flaws” | The Need for Self-Awareness | Putting Down Your Phone and Picking Up a Book
27/03/2017 Duração: 24min#podcast #RealPersonRealNeeds #actingrealtor In this episode, I ask for your help. I'm thinking about changing the title of the podcast. Over the course of the last 16 months, the podcast has evolved in ways I couldn't have anticipated, and in order to clearly communicate to the world what to expect when tuning in, I think it may be time for a change. There are many reasons why but mainly I'm asking for input from YOU, the listener. As for the topic of the episode, we discuss confronting and facing our flaws. For most of us, our biggest enemy is ourselves. Our limited knowledge and lack of confidence in our abilities are the go to excuses for why we don't make a real difference in our own life and the lives of those around us. But it's time to do battle with the enemy within by recognizing who we are and committing to expanding our worldview in order to see just how much we can do to help others. 055: When Working In Real Estate Gets REAL
13/03/2017 Duração: 19minThings have been a little insane over the course of the last two weeks. Previously on the Real Person | Real Needs podcast, I mentioned that my wife and I recently were able to get pre-approved for a mortgage after over 6 years of being trapped in rental world. I thought that working in real estate would make buying a house a little easier. I WAS WRONG! 27/02/2017 Duração: 17min#Podcast #RealPersonRealNeeds Since we last gathered on the podcast, I performed in my very first cabaret on Valentine’s Day as part of Season 6 of the New Voices Cabaret. As far as I’m concerned the night was a rousing success. Aside from a flubbed lyric here and there, the crowd genuinely seemed to enjoy my four song set, which was a relief considering I hadn’t been this nervous about performing in years. 053: “Life Lessons” | Happy Birthday, Jesse | Fear | Comebacks | Contentment
13/02/2017 Duração: 19minToday, is my son’s 9th birthday. Hard to believe that he has grown so quickly and that he has been in my life for that long. He is incredibly smart and kind and quirky and he has dope glasses. Happy Birthday JESSE! I know that being a father is one of the ways that God chooses to teach me a few lessons that I otherwise would be too stubborn to learn on my own. In this episode, I use my younger son's recent struggles with fear to discuss how we need to redefine our fear so that it is a catalyst rather a crutch. I also comment on how contentment in life is both alluring and elusive for someone like me, and how sports can be a great teacher of life lessons. 052: “When Your Dream ALMOST Comes True” House-Hunting | Sight & Sound | Year Three
30/01/2017 Duração: 16minAs many of you know, my dream is to one day work for Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster, PA. I’m pretty outspoken about it on the podcast actually. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been invited to audition for them twice. Once in 2015 and then again in 2016. Both times I was not selected for their upcoming season. And I’d come to terms with that and have continued to work on improving as an actor and performer in the meantime. I’d also started to look ahead to 2017 and outline my plan for the year as best I could. Then something interesting happened. #podcast #RealPersonRealNeeds Notes: 00:00-03:55 Premature House-hunting 03:56-09:57 A Surprise Skype Audition for Sight & Sound | Listen to Episode 48 for the backstory 09:58-14:25 Heading into Year Three for Desiato Homes and a thank you to all of my supporters 14:26-16:52 Housekeeping, Invitation to Subscribe, Outro

But in the midst of all of the chaos and uncertainty, God is faithful to teach me important lessons and let the clouds part so that I can see a bit more clearly in the midst of the storms. 048: A Day at the Mall | Alternative Sources of Income | Dealing with Rejection
30/11/2016 Duração: 20minThis past week I spent more time in the mall than I care to admit. No, I wasn’t doing Christmas shopping. Actually, I was turning the tables and making the mall work for me. You see, when you work in Real Estate, there are certain times in the year where things tend to slow down. Typically the end of summer right before the school year, and as the holidays approach. So being self-employed, you try to find creative ways to make some extra money around the holidays. What brought me to the mall was the prestigious opportunity of performing... market research. 047: “The Ballad of the $9 Haircut Coupon” | Dealing with Post-Show Withdrawal
23/11/2016 Duração: 09minIn this week's episode, after growing my hair to play Che Guevara, I realize it's time for a haircut. But when my frugality plays a game of chicken with my vanity, will my hair end up being the real loser? Also, in the interest of time, I decided to split this week's podcast into two episodes. It was either have an episode that was 25+ minutes, or one that was a little shorter than usual and get two episodes out of it. With the holidays approaching, and both real estate and acting responsibilities occupying most of my time, I opted for the latter option.
