As you know, I have always made a concerted effort to be authentic. So, to be honest, recently I have felt unsure with the identity of this podcast. Though I think the podcast content has been valuable to many people, I feel a bit guilty that it has, at times, been haphazard in its delivery. Initially, it was my candid thoughts as I transitioned into my new career in Real Estate, then I tried my hand at interviewing fellow entrepreneurs for a few episodes. I soon returned to more of a personal diary style, discussing topics pertaining to young entrepreneurs. But for a while now, I've started to feel like I still have not found this podcast's identity. Did this podcast really represent who I am as a person? Not just my genuine thoughts (it certainly did that). But was I using my gifts and radio producing experience to the their fullest capacity in order to present my message in the best way possible?  After a period of soul-searching, I decided that it was time to put my unique stamp on the podcasting world

By including music beds and actual audio from the night in question, I hope to create an immersive experience for the listener to understand this one aspect of my life as a performing artist. Doing something you love is not always glamorous, which is why it is important to be authentic and generous no matter what. By doing so, you can live a pretty rewarding life.

Maybe we should be positioning ourselves to be conduits by which resources can flow to those who are truly in need. If you're like me, you would waste your time daydreaming about it and come home from work miserable and unable to be there mentally and emotionally for your family. Once you start pursuing your passion, it can sometimes get out of hand. We are too often guilty of replacing our spouse and family with the cruel mistress called "work." In our society, we label it with acceptable terms like "go-getter" or "tireless work ethic" but in reality there is a more suitable term: it's called being a "Workaholic." It's dangerous and destructive and we need to guard against it.

"Taking complete ownership of your outcomes by holding no one but yourself responsible for them is the most powerful thing you can do to drive your success." – Gary Keller When things don't go our way we are faced with two options, either take ownership of the outcome, learn from the experience and move on, or sit and complain about the "raw deal" that we received. So many people would rather finger-point when dealing with hardships, than actually be honest with themselves and do the hard work of identifying the root cause of our problems. Admittedly, this approach is not always met with enthusiasm. I don't often enter a room to the sound of deafening applause, streamers and confetti whirling through the atmosphere, and choruses of "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow..." In fact, as you'll soon discover, it has sometimes come at the cost of losing out on possible income because I have been unwilling to lie about the value of a home for my own gain. We need others around us in order to thrive and to enjoy life to its fullest. The trouble is that entrepreneurs can sometimes be loners. Since we think differently than most, we tend to not "play well with others." It is integral to our growth that we not only find people who are like-minded, but that our main motivation in life be to put other's ahead of ourselves. God said, "It is not good for man to be alone," so He created us to be in relationship. People who have "great ideas" and like spending their time on fake business-y things like designing business cards and logos (I am guilty of this) before they even know what their business is going to be, and putting in the work to get it off the ground. Once you have laid out a plan and decided what you will need to do, you need to get to work acquiring the skills necessary to successfully achieve your goal. This is the important work that no one sees. The studying. The acquiring of new skills. The writing and rewriting of your mission and vision. Taking lessons. Taking classes. In this episode, I sit down with "The Sultan of Silver" himself, George Bruno. To say that George is a professionally licensed barber is almost like doing him a disservice. I prefer to use the term Renaissance Man. Whether he’s posting videos of beard grooming tips, sharing random insights on father/son relationships and cigars, or simply enjoying a summer evening while listening to Sinatra, George is truly comfortable in his own skin. Something which he uses to his advantage when driving his business. If you are looking for a straight razor shave and a great conversation, George is your guy. But be sure to block out enough time, with George, you can never run out of things to talk about.
