The significance of Brexit is huge from a Bible prophecy perspective. It is a sure sign of the times that we are indeed witnessing the end of the times of the gentiles and that soon the Kingdom of God will be re-established on the earth.

With Britain out of the way, the nations of Europe look to their future. They see a more strongly united, tighter union... little do they know this is exactly in keeping with Bible Prophecy. The Beast is to be resurrected.

Hello, this is Paul Billington bringing you this week's edition of the Bible in the News.The political earthquake that occurred in Britain last week has a religious dimension which many today will be unaware of. Most of those who took part in the referendum would not have appreciated the full significance and background to it.

John Billington:  Good evening and welcome to the Bible in the News. Tonight we are recording live, after watching some of the election results coming out of Britain this evening, Paul Billington joins us to discuss the situation and where it is going from here.

NATO convenes its biggest military exercises since the beginning of the cold war. A meeting of the heads of NATO is taking place in Brussels preparing for its conference in Poland in two weeks. Nations being asked to wake up and increase their spending, making preparation for war with Russia

We will however start with the anniversary of the six day war, the taking of Jerusalem and the Biblical Heartland.  Welcome back to the Bible in the News, this is John Billington with you this week. 

Hello and welcome to another Bible in the News. This week we look at the notable movements of Russia from a Bible perspective and see how recent news reports are signs of the times. This is Matt Davies joining you.

A week from this coming Tuesday, June the 7th, marks 49 years since the liberation of the old city of Jerusalem. This coming November 2, marks 99 years since the issuing of the Balfour Declaration by the British government and December is 99 years since the liberation of Jerusalem by the British from the Ottoman, Turkish Empire. Next year, then, will commemorate the 50th and 100th anniversaries of the these events.

Hello: This is Paul Billington bringing you this week's Bible in the News. On Thursday June 5, 1975, the people of Britain were asked to vote "Yes" or "No" to membership of what was then called "The Common Market." Pamphlets were sent out to everyone by the Government of Prime Minister Harold Wilson. The official Government pamphlet read: "Britain's New Deal in Europe: Her Majesty's Government have decided to recommend to the British People to vote for staying in the Community." Now, over forty years later another referendum is to be held onThursday, 23rd of June 2016, and the Government of David Cameron has sent out a pamphlet with the heading "Why the Government believes that voting to remain in the European Union is the best decision for the UK." 

The Bible paints a clear picture of where the nations will be in the time of the end. The European Union is moving closer to Russia, and pulling away from the West. Britain is holding a referendum on exiting, and NATO is being threatened by the creation of a European army, all showing we are moving closer to the return of Christ.

It’s also good for us to remember God’s great deliverance, and remember that he will soon deliver his people once again.Welcome to the Bible in the News, this is John Billington with you this week.The following words are taken from Exodus 6:6,7:“6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”

This week Russia has again proven itself relentless in its push against the Caucasus region and the borders of Europe to retake the territory once held by Soviet Union. Conflicts are again flaring up in the Caucasus between Muslim Azerbaijan and Christian Armenia; in the Balkans Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are shaking in their boots, along with Poland. The USA is sending an additional battalion to Europe to bolster protection against an aggressive Russia along the borders of the former Soviet states. 

The western world has once again been shaken by a terrorist attack performed by members of Islamic State. In this weeks Bible in the News we look at whether or not IS will fulfil their ambition of establishing a worldwide empire from the perspective of Bible prophecy.

“Israeli Apartheid Week" is now a big deal especially in the colleges and universities.  Apartheid is defined as “a political system where people are clearly divided based on race, gender, class or other such factors.”  As this is Bible in the News we must say that it was God in his divine wisdom who instructed his people to be separate from the nations around them.  Regardless applying this label to Israel today is a ridiculous suggestion.  

The unrest and resulting civil war, that engulfed the nation of Syria has now been raging for about five years. To begin with it was unclear what would come out of the Syrian civil war, but there were certain events that seemed probable - many of us may have said, “Wouldn’t it be significant if Russia were to move into Syria”. Five years on, at least some of the results are becoming quite clear. Today Russia is in Syria. Russia is now saying that they will be withdrawing some of their forces from Syria. What this will exactly entail and when remains to be seen, but the fact is that Russia will have a much stronger presence in Syria and in the Middle East going forward. Russia’s move to pull back some of its troops came as a surprise, however it is probably a tactical pull back, the reason for which will become apparent.

Russia sees itself as the successor to the Byzantine Empire, the champion of Christianity, a leader of an assembly nations who is to unseat the failed American hegemony over Europe, create a New European Order, with Russia at its center, and take on the burden of world problems. The Bible paints the same picture.

We have seen the military might of Russia flexing it’s muscles in Syria recently but it looks like it’s ambitions lie even further south. This week in the Bible in the news we look at Russia's new investment in Egypt.

Article in the Jerusalem Post carried the above headline on Thursday, reporting that "The Catholic clergy spelled out their position in a statement of the 'Commission for justice and peace' of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries, a panel of archbishops and other senior clerics of the various Catholic rites in Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Cyprus."

Based on the prophecies throughout the scripture, Bible students have been anticipating this move for 100’s of years. The Orthodox and Catholic churches are destined by prophecy to be reunited and work together. The declaration points to a crusade in the Middle East, and according to news reports, “Pope Francis Sees Putin as 'Only Man' to Defend Christians Around the World.”

This week the UK media has been full of Prime Minister David Cameron’s preliminary revelations on a new negotiated deal he is seeking to make with Europe. During this weeks Bible in the News we again review recent events relating to Britain and Europe in the light of Bible prophecy. This is Matt Davies joining you.
