The United Nations resolution against the Israeli settlements, made possible by the abstention of the United States from the vote, claims that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under International law. This includes East Jerusalem, the Jewish Quarter in the Old City and the Western Wall. The passing of the resolution caused outrage throughout much of the Israeli government and public. What this resolution in effect says is that it is illegal for Jews to live in Judah. It in effect says that Jews who live there must be deported. Hitler would have supported it too.

The appointment of David Friedman to the post of America's Ambassador to Israel has pushed this issue to the forefront, an place where the Bible states it must be. 

Events are shaping up to make 2017 a prophetical year to remember! From the standpoint of Bible Prophecy the centre of everything is Israel and its capital Jerusalem and certainly today that locality is the eye of the storm as far as world events are concerned.

With a vacuum being created as America has withdrawn from the Middle East, Libya has been plunged into civil war and a war against ISIL. At the same time Russia is being courted to help the Libyans fight ISIL, and potentially build another Russian Base in the Middle East... just as the prophets foretold.

p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} Welcome to another Bible in the News, this is John Billington with you this week.  The Daily Mail ran the headline “Trumpquake,” and called it a “seismic election creating shockwaves on both sides of the Atlantic.”  Well it may be a shock to America, to Europe and really the entire world but in Israel a Trump presidency may be the most earth shattering.  In the book of Daniel 4:17 we read that “the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.”  There are times that God allows a leader to have power because it is what the people want and honestly deserve.  We can think of Saul in this light.  But there are also times when God puts in power those that will accomplish his purpose.

For this week's Bible in the News, we have a video recording of a talk given by Paul Billington on November 9th, the day after America elected Donald Trump for president.  Donald Trump seems to be shaping up to be a great friend of Israel, and early indications are that he will have a pro Israel and pro settlement administration, very critical of Palestinian hostility to Israel. This is all leading to the Kingdom of God.

While the nations are preparing for Armageddon, the catalyst that will draw them there is heating up. UNESCO has passed two resolutions in the past few weeks that denies any connection between the Jewish people and the Temple Mount. This is a denial of the Israel’s history, a denial of the Jewish faith, a denial of the Bible and a denial of God’s existence.

The western world is building up to Halloween. Shops are full of scary masks and children are preparing for trick or treating.   But what is Halloween and what does the Bible have to say about it?

The writer, Melanie Phillips, says that the Republican candidate for the Presidency has turned out to be "a crude sexual barbarian" while the Democratic candidate has used threats in order to silence women who had been "used" to satisfy Bill Clinton's "sexual excesses" when he was president. Phillips, a well-known journalist says:"The issue in this election is not which candidate has the better claim to be an admirable human being or indeed a fine president. The issue, unfortunately, is which of the two presents the greatest danger to America and, by extension, to Israel and the rest of the free world. Either way, America's fate hangs in the balance. We can only look on aghast."

When we put the prophecies of the northern power together we get a clear picture of what we would expect to develop prior to the return, and this is specifically what we are witnessing.  Of great significance is the rise in Russia’s dominance and influence, and the decrease in the west’s, especially in the Middle East.  We have spoken about this from various angles on this program many times but this week big steps were taken.  Welcome to Bible in the News, this is John Billington with you this week.

In the early days of Zionism, it was suggested that Uganda maybe a suitable place for a national home for the Jewish people. Many of the early secular Zionists were in favour of this idea, which may seem incomprehensible from our perspective. However, when we remember that the goal of the early secular Zionists in the creation of a state of the Jewish people, was to provide a solution to the Jewish problem of dispersion and persecution. The goal was not a revival of ancient Biblical Hebrew culture.

As Bible students host Bible Exhibitions on the Jerusalem Jubilees, the United Nations is debating the same issue. Abbas is threatening to sue the British government over the Balfour declaration, and the UN denies that there is any connection between the Jews and the temple mount.

Bible prophecy speaks of a temporary peace in the Middle East before Israel is attacked and Jesus Christ returns. Could this be the trigger for peace?

The re-alignment of the young lions was seen with the meeting of British Prime Minister Teresa May with US President Barak Obama at the G20 Summit in China. Bible prophecy students have been reading Ezekiel, Daniel, Joel, Zechariah and other prophecies and concluded that Russia’s aggressive rise is inevitable. The news this week has captured a growing concern from UK and US officials in respect to Russia’s growing aggression.

This week Iranian vessels harass a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. The White House responded by stating that the, "Iranian provocation at sea was 'not acceptable’”. The Reuters news report on YNET News said that, "After two incidents of Iranian naval provocation, the US issues a statement saying that Iran's actions are 'not clear,' but that they nevertheless 'have the potential to unnecessarily escalate tensions.’”

As the British nation struggles to be reborn after the BREXIT vote interesting moves are afoot to re-awaken its former commonwealth ties. What is interesting is the comments being made by some of the leading personalities involved in the BREXIT campaign some of which are now part of the new government of Prime Minister Teresa May. These are echoing the words of Bible, in shouting to us from the very news headlines that the Kingdom is near.

Last week was the anniversary of the start of WWI.  It was a war that seemed to unexpectedly start and with all of the military alliances of the central powers and the triple entente it quickly spread from the Balkans.  Welcome to the Bible in News, this is John Billington with you this week.

The dramatic military coup in Turkey that took place two weeks ago, suddenly broke out and yet the crisis disapated the next day. In the moment of crisis it seemed as if the whole area could suddenly change. Yet now things move on and the crisis is quickly forgotten about. The fact is, that Turkey and Europe did change, never to be the same again on that day, fulfilling the expectation of Bible prophecy.
