This week, Pastor Jerry continued the conversation on Easter, with an emphasis on resurrection. In addition to Jesus' resurrection on the Cross, Pastor Jerry discussed our spiritual resurrection now and our future bodily resurrection.

Sin is not just a behavior problem- it is both a relational one and a corrupting one. As a result, the solution to sin must be both relational and healing.

While speed-reading may be a valid approach to other texts, it can lead to missing some important information when used to read the Bible. Additionally, he spoke about how important it is to live our lives in a way that brings restoration to those who feel 'done' with any sort of religion.

An important difference between Colossians and the Gospels is that it is a letter written by Paul, a former Pharisee-turned-disciple, to the people in Colossae, located in modern-day Turkey. Pastor Jerry explains the importance of this information in this week's message.

This week, Pastor Jerry wrapped up his series on the Incarnation. He focused on the mysterious New Testament teaching, our union with Christ. Jesus taught that union with Himself is the basis of our Salvation, and it begins with His Incarnation.

God cares enough to relate to us face-to-face through Christ and heart-to-heart through his Spirit. In this Christmas series, we learn how to follow the example of Jesus in sharing God’s Good News in person through our lives.

This week, we were blessed to receive from our worship leader, Nikki Climer. She spoke on the book of Romans, and how the beauty of God's love is that He loves us with all our faults, rather than in spite of them.

This week's message focuses on a strategy from Philippians 2:3-8 that demonstrates God’s way to engage with others during conflict: remembering that our brain’s interpretation of sensory input- our 'map,' so to speak- is an incomplete representation of reality. As a result, we need to step into and seek to understand the other person’s 'map' if we want to communicate effectively.

This week, Pastor Jerry continued in the Rerouting series. According to both science and the Bible, we are at our best when we are happy and at peace. Paul admonishes us to rejoice throughout his works, while scientists have found that what we choose to focus on can have a dramatic impact on our quality of life. All of this is discussed in this week's message.

One of the most damaging ideas in Western Christianity is the one that God delights in torturing people forever in Hell, going as far as intentionally creating billions of people for this purpose in order to increase his glory. Now it's backfiring because many people are saying, “Well, if that’s your idea of God, I want nothing to do with Him.” We don’t want to change our theology because it’s pragmatic, but what if the traditional view of hell rose to prominence because of pragmatism? Pastor Jerry decides to take a swing at this topic in this week's sermon.

One of the most significant passages about the gospel of Jesus was written approximately 700 years before He was even born. Throughout Isaiah 53, we see a graphic- and surprisingly accurate- depiction of the Crucifixion. In addition, it shows us exactly why He came to us in the first place, whether or not we realize it on our first read.

Continuing on in the 'Learning, Living and Giving the Good News' series, Pastor Jerry explores replacing religion with the self-realizing nature of the New Covenant. “Self-actualization” is the drive within every human being to become all we are capable of being; to transform all potential positive qualities into actual positive qualities. The way this relates to scripture is that, while the Old Covenant held us back with sin and law, the New Covenant has allowed us to fully realize our identity in Christ.

The Message of Jesus changed the World, until the world changed the message. The goal of the gospel is people sharing in God’s love life! The New Covenant is about our amazing privilege to live beyond ourselves with God.
