  • Ruth [Christmas Through the Eyes of Faith 1]

    03/12/2023 Duração: 34min

Ruth 1:1-22 // Bill GormanSo what’s it about? It’s about a God who so loves outsiders. Who so pursues the people who don’t belong. Who has such a big heart for losers and outcasts, for sinners. For the people we tend to ignore or despise. A God who has so much love. That even a Moabitess from Moab can find a home. A place to belong. And Jesus was also an outsider! He left His home. In heaven. To become a peasant, a child out of wedlock, spending the first years of His life as a refugee, eventually rejected by those He came to save, even abandoned by His closest friends, and then dying on a cross for our sins. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49173777 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.12.03

    19/11/2023 Duração: 39min

Romans 5:12-14 // Bill GormanWe’ve all had that moment when who you want to be and who you are is met with frustration. Where does that frustration come from? You can’t help but be hopeful that there’s more but we often experience our helplessness in our inability to change. Is this a me problem or something more?Join us as we continue our journey through the Book of Romans and see what’s really going on in the world and in us in this world. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49167263 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.11.19

  • The Result of Rescue: Reconciliation [Romans 13]

    12/11/2023 Duração: 37min

Romans 5:5-11 // Bill GormanIf an enemy is anyone who feels like they are not on our side. Then we’ve got lots of enemies. And even those closest to us can become enemies — if only for a moment. Have you ever felt like God isn’t on your side? Like God is your enemy? What do you do then? That’s what we look at in this message.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49157086 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.11.12

  • Result of Rescue: Hope [Romans 12]

    05/11/2023 Duração: 33min

Romans 5:1-5 // Bill GormanWhat do we do if it’s the hope that kills you but also a lack of hope that kills you? Is there hope that won’t disappoint us? Is there a flower of hope that disappointment and suffering can’t wither into a toxic weed of cynicism and despair? Paul says, Yes.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49156857 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.11.05

    29/10/2023 Duração: 41min

Romans 4:1-12 // Nathan MillerYou cannot have a relationship with anyone without trust. Trust is the currency of intimacy. But what does that matter to God?Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49156852 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.10.29

  • Rescued through Faith [Romans 10]

    22/10/2023 Duração: 40min

Romans 3:27-31 // Bil GormanWhen people talk about “having faith” it often revolves around do they want something bad enough? Or do they believe strongly enough that it can happen? So often the conversation revolves around their effort for faith rather than in the object of their faith. Today we are going to look at faith and examine what is true Christian faith.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49153293 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.10.22

  • Finishing the Task

    15/10/2023 Duração: 24min

Matthew 28:16-20; Romans 10:14 // Getachew BezabihPaul’s desire in writing to the Romans was to prepare them for his upcoming visit, which would be a time for both Paul and the Roman Church to be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith (Rom 1:12). This was a faith that was not ashamed of the Gospel (Rom 1:16-17). Paul was also committed to going and preaching the Gospel where no one else had been: “It has always been my ambition to preach the Gospel where Christ was not known” (Rom 15:20a). This was the impetus for his desire to continue to Spain after visiting Rome (Rom 15:24).The proclamation of the Gospel is an essential part of evangelism, along with acts of mercy and demonstrations of God’s power. Paul says in Rom 10:14-15, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?... And, how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”This message challenges us in the 21st-century ministry that embodies the spirit of Paul’s Letter to the Romans. We will be mutually encouraged in our faith,

    08/10/2023 Duração: 40min

Romans 3:21-26 // Bill GormanThere are few questions that are quite as loaded and comforting as “Are you okay?” The range of responses could be “Sure” to “Not even close.” What God has to offer us in this space is the answer we long for, but without him we don’t have the eyes to see. Join us as we continue our rescuing journey in the book of Romans and learn how we can be okay today…and forever. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49142758 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new

  • We Need Rescue From Sin [Romans 08]

    01/10/2023 Duração: 39min

Romans 3:1-20 // Bill GormanSin is not simply synonymous with “breaking the rules” or doing something “bad.” The Bible can use the word like that as we’ll see in a bit. But the biblical writers can also talk about sin as a power, a crouching animal that wants to devour and destroy us.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49139441 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.10.01

Romans 2:1-16 // Bill GormanThe verdict is in: judging someone makes you the worst. Wait? I guess I’m not allowed to say that. But at least it's not as bad as some people. Oh boy, I did it again. Everyone hates a judgy posture, even Jesus and Paul, but why? Christians answer this question differently than the rest of the world, and the reason may surprise even the most faithful of followers. • The Rescued Family [Romans 02]

    20/08/2023 Duração: 32min

Romans 1:8-15 // Bill GormanEvery letter written has an audience for which it is written. The letter to the Romans is no different. While that principle may not surprise you, what may surprise you is how similarly divided we are today as they were then, and while the particulars are nuanced, the same avenue for peace is the only hope for today. Join us as we continue our extended journey in the book of Romans, where the apostle Paul prays his way toward a new community. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49122070 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.08.20

  • David and the Census [David 13]

    06/08/2023 Duração: 43min

2 Samuel 24 // Tim MillerWhat will be the final words spoken over your life? David’s story ends with a story plucked from a moment in his life, but it is the final note the author of Samuel wants to leave. Why end with a story about a census? Why end with a sacrifice? Why end there out of all moments in David’s life? Join us as we hear how the final words of David’s life offer hope for the final words over our own lives. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49115206 Prayer Requests:  https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2546/responses/new23.08.06

  • David and Absalom [David 12]

    30/07/2023 Duração: 39min

2 Samuel 16:5-14 // Bill GormanFamily gatherings can be both heartwarming. However, amidst the joy, we cannot escape the reality of family brokenness. This week's message delves into the life of King David, a figure admired by many but also deeply flawed. Through the stories of David's family, we uncover the truth that families are a mixed bag. Every family, no matter how loving or accomplished, has its flaws and tensions. As we confront the brokenness in our own families, we often find ourselves wrestling with guilt and shame for our contributions to these fractures.David's journey, while filled with triumphs and failures, offers us hope and a path forward. Despite his shortcomings, he sought humility in the face of suffering and depended on prayer to find solace and guidance in God's mercy. We too can find hope in God's grace, which surpasses the brokenness of our families and empowers us to grow, change, and move forward in faith.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49111476 Prayer Requests:  https://c

  • David and His Children [David 11]

    23/07/2023 Duração: 36min

2 Sam 13:1-22 // Bill GormanThe statistics on sexual assault are alarming, revealing the extent of this pervasive issue. As we dive into Tamar's story, we approach it with compassion, recognizing that it might resonate deeply with your own experiences or those of your loved ones. We want you to know that you are not alone. In God's wisdom, Scripture presents us with stories like Tamar's to remind us that He does not ignore injustice. We'll explore critical questions that this passage raises, such as cultivating our deepest desires instead of our strongest ones and considering who we listen to in life.Throughout this teaching, we emphasize the importance of supporting victims of sexual assault and abuse, listening to their stories, and believing them. We are committed to providing a safe space at Christ Community where you can share your experiences without judgment or shame. As we navigate this challenging territory, we look to Jesus, the true and better son of David, who suffered shame, humiliation, and injus
