90 Under 90

2021 is the year of movies under 90 minutes, because for the THIRD time this year (twice legit) we're discussing a brand new movie under 90 minutes!  We have a very special guest host for a very special bonus episode covering the 2021 release of Disney's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" which holds the title of the SECOND shortest run time of any Disney movie (even Dumbo!)

We always like to give out holiday bonuses this time of year.  But this time we're offering them up for our Jewish listeners.  Well really any listener, but this is our Chanukah Bonus episode on "Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights" directed by Seth Kearsley with special guest host Megan Easter.

We've got another rendition of "9 Questions With!"  This week, we talk to the director of this week's Chanukah Bonus movie "Eight Crazy Nights" and have an awesome conversation that helps paint a picture of the man himself.

We're at the end of season 2!  So let's discuss a modern classic that we've been saving for some time.  Kaitlin Eden joins the brothers for a discussion on the COMPLETELY UNAVOIDABLE Comedy Central staple "Office Space" from 1999 written and directed by Mike Judge and starring Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, David Herman, Gary Cole, Stephen Root, and Ajay Naidu.

For Jer, this may have been the hardest he's laughed all season...for a character he did NOT grow up with.  Jordan McCaw joins us to talk about the titular character's leap to the silver screen with "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" directed by Stephen Hillenburg and Mark Osborne.

October Under 90 comes to an official close today as we close out the month and the Nightmare series...kinda.  Rachel Talalay directs Robert Englund in this Twin Peaks-inspired romp through a mysterious time in the future where all children are gone.  And then the adventure goes 3D as we dive into Freddy's mind!  

Today marks an exciting new chapter for the show!  We've always wanted to talk to the actors, directors, and writers of the movies we discuss, and this is the first opportunity we had to do exactly that.  This week we close out October Under 90 with the final chapter in the Nightmare series "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare," and so what better time to chat with the director of the movie: Rachel Talalay?!We bring you the first in what we hope to be a long running new side series: 9 Questions With...Rachel Talalay

Charlie Wein joins us to talk about a movie that Jer actually found enjoyable to watch!  We discuss "The Last Exorcism" from 2010 directed by Daniel Stamm and starring Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, Iris Bahr, and Louis Herthum.

For the second time in about a month, we get to record another elusive episode of 90 Under 90 RIGHT NOW!  And you should all be forewarned...there's gonna be carnage.Katie Binkley joins us to talk about the newest entry in the Sony Universe of Spider-Man Characters.  Andy Serkis directs this flimsy but fast "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" starring Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson.

October Under 90 begins with the directorial debute of Bobby Zombs in the first of what would eventually become a trilogy.  Pat Lewandowski joins us after a long absence to talk about the 2003 Rob Zombie horror "House of 1000 Corpses" starring Rainn Wilson, Chris Hardwick, and redneck poetry.

September AND Requestember end today, and BOY is this a challenging one!  Jay Drumm joins us to talk about "Silent Running" directed by Douglas Trumbull and starring Bruce Dern.  This movie, which Dan mistakenly heard was "better than Star Wars," comes to us by request from Tom Harascak on Facebook.

This week's Requestember selection comes to us from our Patron Megan Easter (@saltydog630 on Twitter.)  Mike Klappauf joins us to talk about this horror comedy written and directed by Jim Cummings (and NOT the Jim Cummings we don't care for on this show.)  "The Wolf of Snow Hollow" stars Jim Cummings (again, NOT the bad one,) Riki Lindholme, Robert Forster, Chloe East, and Will Madden.

We invited Resident Active Stand-up Ken Palmer on the show to talk about this week's request, which comes to us from Amber Stevens on Facebook.  We're talking about the arthouse comedy "Sleepwalk With Me" written and directed by Mike Birbiglia, which chronicles NOT Mike Birbiglia as he wrestles with a recently discovered sleep disorder and the purpose of his whole life.

Week 2 of Requestember brings us this request from @RealMrTapWater on Twitter: the 2003 indie that's just barely more than a home movie, "Pauly Shore Is Dead" directed by the Weasel himself.  Ian Simmons returns to talk about the movie which seems to close the book on the Weasel persona indefinitely.  Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you.

Jer hosts a VERY special guest for a VERY special and rare "90 Under 90 RIGHT NOW!"  We're not presented with these opportunities very often, particularly during a pandemic, so Jer jumped at the chance to watch a movie that's both under 90 minutes and in theaters RIGHT NOW!  He discusses "PAW Patrol: The Movie" with, again, a VERY special guest.

We kick off our annual Requestember Month with a title requested on Twitter by @sadboigeorge...Charlie Wein is back to talk about, yes, another movie that is no fun to watch.  Only this time it's not his fault!  We discuss the disturbing horror "The Eyes of My Mother" from 2016.

We've got another anniversary this week as we celebrate another Brady movie with Madalyn Mattsey (which may or may not be the beginning of a shared universe?!)  It's "A Very Brady Sequel" and a VERY sitcom-y feature film.  Shelley Long, Gary Cole, Tim Matheson and Christine Taylor star in this 1996 follow-up directed by Arlene Sanford.

Happy 25th anniversary to the second entry in the Tales From the Crypt [attempted] trilogy!  Rick Schuler joins us to discuss this comedy/horror that had SOME potential, but is spoiled by bad editing, poor writing, and wall to wall Dennis Miller riffs.  Gilbert Adler directs "Bordello of Blood" which also stars Angie Everhart, Erika Eleniak, and Chris Sarandon.

Mike is back on the main show to talk about one of the less impactful Seth Rogen movies, but one that's also way better than anyone may actually know.  Jody Hill directs 2009's "Observe and Report" also starring Anna Faris, Ray Liotta, and Michael Pena.
