Schnell Talks Fry Thief
04/02/2019 Duração: 04minHoly French Fries, Batman! We're back with a quick tease! Yes, there's been a bit of a Beer'd Gamers hiatus, but fret not, for we plan to return to your ears soon! Until then, however, check out this review from Schnell of a game his friend just designed! Here's the link for the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/patrickrauland/fry-thief-a-game-about-poor-life-choices?ref=9e575f&fbclid=IwAR1lt1SW2v-afF2TfFmcm1t1fkkuLTETqCuA7DbWtTrLrHEU8Lxvo1CZsZA

Castle Ravenloft: Find the Icon of Ravenloft
05/09/2018 Duração: 01h17minWelcome to this week’s episode of Beer’d Gamers! We take a step into the Dungeons and Dragons universe today, specifically into the depths of Castle Ravenloft, which, ironically enough, is also the name of the game! Castle Ravenloft can be played solo or as a multiplayer adventure and comes with a book that sets up more than 30 different encounters for players, each one with its own storyline. Players work together to solve the mysteries of the dungeon while defeating enemies that lurk within. As players progress, experience points are earned and be cashed in to level up as the game goes on, much like a game of D&D. Castle Ravenloft has an MSRP of $64.95 and based on our opinions and the massive amount of replayability, we think it’s definitely worth the price tag and would serve as a great addition to your collection! This week in beers we’ve got Teej sitting out nursing his hangover with a V8 Energy, Schnell mixing it up with Pear Street’s Breakfast Beer and New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk, and Nelson

Catan
20/08/2018 Duração: 01h13minHello and welcome to Beer’d Gamers! We’re still a podcast, we still play board games, and we still do it while trying to drink as many beers as we can. My name is Nelson, and with my today are my fellow Beer’d Gamers, Teej and Schnell! This week we’re playing Settlers of Catan, or just Catan, depending on when you started playing and what version you have. Catan is the godfather of all worker placement games, and what we in the biz like to call the “gateway game.” Chances are that when you moved on to harder and more illicit games, Catan was the game that spurred you on. And if you haven’t made the move yet, find a friend who has a copy, make sure no cops are around, and pack yourself a table full of Catan.

Carcassonne
31/07/2018 Duração: 01h02minThis week we’ve got Robert along for one more! We’re challenging everyone’s logical thinking and tile-laying skills with the classic board game Carcassonne. Carcassonne pits four players against each other in a race to score points based on the tiles that they lay. Roads can be built, villages and cloisters erected, and farming fields claimed for points. Once the last tile is played, players count up their scores and a winner is determined. Carcassonne is an all-time classic and has an MSRP of $34.99. This week in beer we’ve got Nelson still drowning in Coors Light (Junior owes him big), Teej still drinking Oscar’s Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (but if you listen long enough you’ll hear him switch it up; what a twist!), Robert taps out and switches to black cherry favored water, and Schnell goes full-on Packers with Green 19 IPA from Titletown Brewing Company.

Munchkin Steampunk
24/07/2018 Duração: 01h14minHello, and welcome to the dungeon, baby! Wake up, because it’s time to play Munchkin, Steampunk edition! Munchkin is a multiplayer card game where the players take on the roles of heroes attempting to enter a dungeon and defeat the minions, monsters, and more that lurk within. With the Steampunk expansion, we also get cool things like gears, goggles, and more to improve our stats and help in our fight against evil. This week in beerded goodness we’ve got Robert on the show, who interestingly enough isn’t drinking beer at all! He’s got another Mike’s Harder Lemonade, this time watermelon flavor, which triggers sugar-addled PTSD in all of us. Schnell goes flavored, as well, with Shipwrecked Cherry Wheat Ale from Door County Brewing Company; Nelson continues his self-flagellation with more Coors Light, and Teej brings it all home with Oscar’s Chocolate Oatmeal Stout by Sand Creek Brewing Company, AREALWISCONSINBEER!

Magic: The Gathering Commander Anthology 2
13/07/2018 Duração: 01h14minHey, Hey! We’re back in action with a special guest this week! Join us in welcoming Robert to the fold! Robert is a good friend of Teej’s, and he’s with us filling in for Junior, who’s currently on hiatus with a case of The Marriage. As Ben gets ready to marry the designer of our logo, Katie, Robert was kind enough to fill in and play games with us! This week we’re playing Magic Commander Anthology 2, the most recent release of the Commander Anthology series. The Anthology series take some of the most powerful preconstructed decks that Wizards of the Coast has released as previous entries in the Commander series and puts them together in a boxed set. The stock Commanders, which we are playing with right out of the box, include Daretti, Scrap Savant, Atraxa, Preator’s Voice, The Mimeoplasm, and Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas. This week in beers we’ve got Teej going thematic with Magic Dragon Double IPA from Hop Haus, Robert goes harder with Mike’s Harder Lemonade, Schnell goes dark with Night Rain Porter f

Ex Libris
06/07/2018 Duração: 01h30minHey, hey! We’re back! This week we’re back with our first full-game playthrough in a while, and we thank you for sticking around while our schedules have been a complete nightmare. This week we’ve got Teej, Schnell, and Nelson (Junior is on hiatus until after his wedding next month) playing a very fun game called Ex Libris. Ex Libris is a resource management game, but rather than sheep, food, bricks, etc., we’re trying to collect certain kinds of books to build our individual libraries, while doing our best to avoid the banned texts that will net us negative points when scoring is triggered. Ex Libris is played in rounds until end game is trigged by one player having shelved 15 cards of books. Players are then scored on things like secret objective achieved, shelf stability, variety of the books, and many other ways their collection can earn them points. When it’s all said and done, the player with the most points at the end wins. We all really, really enjoyed this game, and we think you would, too! E

Tiny Epic Kingdoms
22/06/2018 Duração: 01h10minThis week we take on another game from the Tiny Epic series as we play Tiny Epic Kingdoms. Tiny Epic Kingdoms sees players taking on the role of a faction of characters that have different abilities based on their race. Players race to see who can raid and pillage, build buildings, harvest resources, gain knowledge, and more, before their opponents can. Tiny Epic Kingdoms has an MSRP of roughly $16 depending on the seller, and is a great addition for people who like quick games, or games on the go.

Boss Monster
07/06/2018 Duração: 53minHoly shit, we’re back!!! It’s been a long time since we’ve all been in the same room together, and apparently a long time since Teej and his sister got along. More on that in the episode intro… This week we are playing Boss Monster, a card-based dungeon-builder that was released during the 8-bit art style craze. In this game, players take on the role of the Dungeon Boss, designing a dungeon that will do enough damage to heroes venturing inside to kill them before they are able to kill the dungeon boss. Players take turns building new rooms or casting spells to directly aid themselves, screw their opponents, or mess with the adventurers. The game supports 2-4 players and has an MSRP of $24.99.

Schnell Reads the Rules: Tiny Epic Kingdoms
18/05/2018 Duração: 17minSo we've got something a little different this week. We've been talking about different ideas for setting up a patron page and what kind of content we could offer people who become patrons to help us out with things like beer money, web hosting, etc., and one of the ideas was the Schnell could read rulebooks, which would help us and our listeners with games new and old. This week we're rolling out our first few "Schnell Reads the Rules" for free as a way to introduce this format to our audience. Give it a listen and give us some feedback, either here in the Podbean comments, on Facebook, or via email to beerdgamers@gmail.com.

Schnell and Nelson Hate Games, Part Deux
14/05/2018 Duração: 01h07minWe’re coming at you this week with part 2 of the discussion between Nelson and Schnell because mother nature and life just haven’t allowed us all to be together in over a month now. We’ll get back to our regular programming as soon as we can, but until then, part 2 of our discussion focuses mostly on game expansions and whether they are good or bad, and how we go about learning new games and teaching games to new players. This week in beers we’ve got Schnell drinking Independence Harbor Amber Ale by Custom Tap Brews, and Nelson drinks Irish Blessing by Boulder Beer Company.

They Come Unseen
27/04/2018 Duração: 01h37minWe may not run silent; we may not run deep. However, this week we’re coming at you with They Come Unseen, a game for 2-5 players (recommended at 4) that sees a team of submarines working to blow up a team of destroyers’ naval bases. Two players play behind a screen, much like the DM in Dungeons & Dragons, while the other team plays out in the open. Resources like fuel and weapons must be monitored, consumed, and replenished, and each team is out to destroy the other. The subs win by taking out naval bases, and the destroyers win by keeping their bases intact while hunting down and bombing the subs. This week in beer we’ve got Junior drinking ControversiALE by Short’s Brewing Company, Schnell drinks Blood of the Unicorn by Pipeworks Brewing Company, Nelson has Tokyo Sauna from Karben4, and Teej keeps the Always Sunny theme rolling with Fight Milk from Odd Side Ales.

Special Episode: Nelson and Schnell Hate Games
20/04/2018 Duração: 01h14minThat winter storm Evelyn was a real bitch, huh? We think so, too, which is why this week we have a special episode for you guys. Due to the pounding Wisconsin took from the storm, our regularly scheduled recording session was postponed, so Nelson and Schnell decided to hook up their mics, jump on Discord and complain about shitty weather and what we dislike about games. But don’t worry, we also talk about things we like, too. We’ll be back soon with more regularly scheduled Beer’d Gamers programming, but until then, we leave you with this. This week in beer Schnell goes with a Beer’d Gamers favorite IPA, Hoptronix from New Holland Brewing, and Nelson goes with his namesake, Brewers Pale Ale, Nelson Hop Blend, from Anchor Brewing.

Mice and Mystics, Chapter 2
13/04/2018 Duração: 01h42minWe’re back with Chapter 2 of our serial playthrough of Mice and Mystics! Have you ever met a spider you just couldn’t kill no matter how hard you tried? So did we. We probably cut about 45 minutes of frustration during out attempt to kill just one in this playthrough. Check it out to see if we were successful! This week in brews we’ve got Nelson repping the Blue Ribbon and drinking Pabst’s American Pale Ale, Teej downs what is quickly becoming a Mice and Mystics go-to in Cashmere Hammer from 3 Sheeps Brewing Company, Schnell goes with a Wisconsin staple and polishes a six pack of Spotted Cow from New Glarus Brewing Company, and Junior brings it all home this week with a green tea ale, Eazy Teazy from Lakefront Brewery.

Magic: The Gathering Commander 17
06/04/2018 Duração: 01h48minVampires, cats, dragons, and wizards, oh my! This week we’re back with another episode of our favorite CCG, Magic: The Gathering. We have a ton of fun playing Commander format Magic when we all get together, so we thought it would be fun to showcase the latest precon decks in the Commander series, Commander 17. Commander 17 focused on tribal decks, so each of these decks fit that theme. The new Eminence ability was also introduced, which allows for these commanders to start manipulating the battlefield before they even make it there. Teej is playing Draconic Domination, which is obviously dragon-themed. Schnell and his cats are running Feline Ferocity. Junior rolls with the patriarch of the Markov clan, Edgar Markov, and plays Vampiric Bloodlust. Nelson seeks to use wizards and countermagic to run everyone’s day, so he’s playing Arcane Wizardry. In order to show off how these decks play directly out of the box, everyone is playing a completely un-modified version of each deck. This week in beer Teej

Mice and Mystics, Chapter 1
30/03/2018 Duração: 01h46minGet ready for an aural experience like you’ve never had before. Let you ears be seduced by the velvety smootness of Schnell’s voice as he narrates the hell out of this week’s prologue. Oh, what’s what? Why do we have a prologue? Because this week we bring you the first episode in the first game we are playing serial-style! This week we’re playing Mice and Mystics, a co-op RPG that’s based on its own original story. We’ll be bringing you the entire story in the weeks to come, but this week it’s Chapter one of the story, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed playing! This week in liver destruction we’ve got sick Teej drinking Not Your Mom’s Iced Tea from Small Town Brewery, Schnell takes a page out of Teej’s stout book and goes with 3 Sheeps’ Cashmere Hammer Nitro Stout, Junior also takes a page out of the Teej Liver Torture Playbook and has this week’s highest ABV beverage, Superfluid from Short’s Brewing Company, and Nelson keeps it minimalist with Beer Me, and American Lager from Oddsi
