Sheena Marie Barnes hosts a conversation with local men about the concept of masculinity and how learned ideologies and standards of behavior have affected them, and how they view our culture through that framework. This is the first part in a series, one that will include more voices, and touch on other aspects of masculinity in the modern world.

  This month we speak with Democratic elected officials who are African American women.    You'll hear from State Senator Edna Brown, Toledo Municipal Court Clerk Vallie Bowman-English, Councilwoman Dr. Cecelia Adams, Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson, and the Vice President of the Lucas County Young Dems, Brittany Moore. They speak about their lives, and what motivated them to take action, run for office, and what they see is next to do.

In our first episode we speak with some of the organizers of the Toledo Unity March - Chris Maxie, Ruth Leonard, Julian Mack, and Emily Desmond.  We then go to the studio to speak with Carrie Russell-Hartman about her experience at the Women's March on Washington, and to Adam Maguire and Chairman Joshua Hughes on what the Lucas County Young Dems and the Lucas County Democratic Party will be doing in 2017.
