Sinopse
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/phantasysoundFounded in London in 2007, Phantasy has steadily transformed into one of the UKs most diverse and artistically ambitious small labels. Neither rooted in electronic or alternative music, Phantasy small but expanding stable of artists work closely with founder and creative director Erol Alkan, to achieve the best possible sound and vision for a diverse audience. All Phantasy releases are pressed on vinyl as well as released digitally. While always defying definition, a contemporary psychedelic streak binds together Phantasys unique roster. Since his debut album, Drone Logic, Daniel Avery has found a devoted and international audience for his initially against-the-grain blend of subtle electronica and captivating dancefloor moments. Helping to define a new era of acid house and techno, the recent New Energy [Collected Remixes] captures his influence on dance music at large, with contributions from Perc, Roman Flugel, Special Request and more. New Zealander Connan Mockasin also found the perfect home on Phantasy for his offbeat and visionary psych-pop, most recently seeing his sophomore album Caramel gain huge critical acclaim, while his stunning debut, Forever Dolphin Love, was celebrated as Recordstores album of the year in 2012. Having released his self titled debut LP, the similarly singular Ghost Culture blends driving, experimental electronics with a classic singer-songwriter sensibility, earning it a place as Rough Trades first album of the month of 2015. Based in Brazil, Babe Terror specialises in otherworldly beats and absorbing lo-fi, while occasional collaborator, the mysterious U, does much the same with a fractured, British rave aesthetic. Phantasys latest signing, Kamera, has since delivered ARC, a frosty and fully formed EP that seamlessly joins the dots between Berlin club culture and captivating, overwhelming drone.Meanwhile, solo singles from The Chemical Brothers Tom Rowlands, cult pianist Gonzales and Late of the Pier compliment the music of Erol Alkan himself, whose much anticipated EP, Illumination, has been his only solo release thus far.

I was lucky enough to book him over the years at our Adventures In The Beetroot Field parties as well as Field Day and even the Lock Tavern, which I used to programme back then. As I drifted more towards exploring techno under my Volte-Face moniker, our paths diverged somewhat, and a few years

For the 51st edition of PHANTASYMIX, he's on hand to present a contemporary but classic vista of the timeless four-to-the-floor sound: "There’s a lot happening in house music at the moment so I wanted to focus on recent releases for this mix. At the same time, you’ll hear a lot of grooves and moods that you'll instantly recognize and be familiar with. I love how House music always is referencing and pointing back in history. It constructs narratives and relationships that span time and space, something tha

PHANTASYMIX 48: Talking Drums
03/12/2024 Duração: 01h35minSince their inception in 2018, Talking Drums have provided some of the most inventive, quietly sophisticated and all round highly sought-after dancefloor cuts on vinyl, providing an “a home for poorly executed dance moves, misjudged vibes and narcotic bravery.” Emanating from Manchester’s musical centre, and blurring the boundaries between edits and otherwise, Phantasy are delighted to have the minds behind jump from wax and into our long-running mix series… “We took a break from our full time hobby inventing increasingly idiotic DJ names to lay down a little bit of cosmic wobble, wormhole funk, daft disco and TD XXXclusives. Illicit edits, remixes for friends and a little OG energy suitable for all ages and most situations. Many thanks to the marvellous folks at Phantasy Sound for inviting us into their orbit.”

#PHANTASYMIX 43: Jay Carder
08/03/2022 Duração: 01h04minThis International Women’s Day, spend an hour deep in the passionate, versatile selections of Jay Carder. There are numerous sides to Jay Carder that demonstrate a DJ, promoter and radio host truly at ease with their own taste. Describing her selections as a “concoction of heavier, leftfield bass and lighter, psychedelic techno”, this is the sort of vibe that Carder delivers for her contribution to Phantasy’s mix series. For this bumping and classy hour, Carder connects her alignment with a resurgent UK underground transforming a legacy of garage and breaks - recent appearances on the decks have placed her alongside K-Lone and the Dr. Banana crew - with a trippy house aesthetic that’s more than familiar to Phantasy, just as Carder is to us. As you can see, she’s even repping the t-shirt.

#PHANTASYMIX 39: Ambient Babestation Meltdown
04/08/2021 Duração: 01h03minAmbient Babestation Meltdown, otherwise known as Rachael Williams, is a true character. Her sets gravitate towards records old and new that pulse with energy, irony and intelligence, a sort of thinking-person’s party DJ, yet far less annoying than that might sound. As one half of DiASKi, alongside Joe Brooke-Smith, she produces sci-fi tinted trippers that will soon emerge on a debut record from DBA, and recently provided some different dystopian flavours to the newly maskless masses at Gala Festival. #PHANTASYMIX 37: Bakongo
26/05/2021 Duração: 01h14sHaving already released on underground labels such as Livity Sound and Trule, Bakongo has made a serious impact over the past year or two, capturing the ears of dancers and collectors even without the benefit of a sub-heavy dancefloor to showcase his productions, which blend elements of “techno, garage, dub and broken beats’, spun and reinterpreted with understanding and imagination. Better known as Roska, in a recent, wide-ranging interview with Beatport, Goodlitt pondered “What happens to funky the other nine months of the year when there’s no sun shining?”. Just as it begins to appear again, Goodlitt switches to Bakongo and answers this question fair-and-square, generously gifting Phantasy an hour full of upcoming material, collaborations and edits, as well as material from the likes of Chrissy, DJ Gregory and LSDXOXO. Collectively, it amounts to irresistible body music, brightly beaming down but not without a touch of grit and darkness. Accompanying the mix, Bakongo spoke to John Loveless in May 2021, v
