I went down to Psychedelic Soul Shack (Kinetik's radio show) two Saturdays ago and brought a crate of wax. Kinetik did his thing first which was absolutely ridicuous and then I did mine. Kinetik was straight showing off all the bottom lip biting/painful look on your face breaks he has and I followed that up with some smoothed out Hip Hop and instrumental vibes. This episode is our way of showing our love, support and thanks. Ever since MCA passed away I've had my iPod loaded up with Beastie Boys both in mourning and in preparation for this episode. As much as their music meant to me I had never listened to their entire discography in that fashion. So much of their music got major play from me over the years; from my first boom-box, my first walkman, my first car stereo and now on the turntables. Music that I listened to a lot tends to have memories attached to it. While I was jamming all these Beastie Boys tracks I was on the sweetest trip down memory lane recalling good times; parties, skateboarding, school, girls and friends. Out of the blue the dude hit up the Hip Hop hoarder @Large looking to donate his legendary tape collection to @'s Dope Vault. The collection is full of dope tapes that used to get played back in the school days on one of those yellow Sony Sports Walkman's with the latch that flipped over the buttons or on a ghetto blaster wedged between the two front seats of Chad's pops late model Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue (It might have been a Plymouth Diplomat, same damn thing really). This was inevitably going to lead to a mix of some music that could be found on these tapes... and here it is! This tape right pretty much started it all for me. By the time it came out I was already thinking about what it'd be like to have turntables and what Dee-Jaying was all about. When I got a copy of this tape and saw that people around my way were not only doing this stuff but that it opened a door to a whole new world of music, that's when I launched my mission to get turntables.
