Friends, Change is hard, but, change is also where Jesus can do His greatest work of renewal and transformation (Isaiah 40:27-31). May the Spirit of the Risen Christ pout out His Spirit on you generously , and change your life today!

In what area of your life this week do you need to stop relying on your own strength and start relying on the company of Jesus?Hear me clearly friends: That burden you are carrying, that relationship that has you up a night, the future of your kids, grandkids, your country, those burdens and many like them, are to heavy to carry by yourself. The promise of Easter is that whatever our future holds, Jesus will be with us and wants to help us through it. To quote the hymnwriter“Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share?”The answer is, we can! His name is Jesus, He is Risen, and His Holy Spirit is with us today! 

This resurrection season, change how you live for Jesus. What would it take for you to do that? What do you need to tear down so the name of the Risen Jesus remains? Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday. Christ is Risen! 

Following Jesus, even and especially in a state of disappointment is essential for Christian maturityI have seen people let me down in ministry and in life all the time. Anytime that happens, I am getting better at remembering that people let down Jesus all the time. How did Jesus respond when He knew people would let Him down? Again, remember the Psalm of Ascents as Jesus walked to Jerusalem: “I lift my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”-Psalms 121:1-3, 5, 7-8. With the coming cross looming, Jesus knew His disciples and the people would abandon Him, yet still believed His Father would be with Him. In a world that covets a double portion of power and money, be the type of Christian that covets a double portion of Christ and His Spirit.

This Lent, what are you devoted to? As we talked in the sermon today, there is nothing wrong with sporting events (Tech won!), Valentine’s Day, and movies.
