All Other Business

Since we’ve been absent for a while, we thought we’d catch up on the changes in our personal and professional lives.  The only thing that we can count on is that change is inevitable.  Except when it comes to our luck.  That’s ALWAYS bad.

How, exactly, does one go about finding a job?  Classifieds, websites, recruiters, networking - it can all be overwhelming.  We share our experiences and give some advice on the all-important topic of writing a resume.  Remember - it represents you, so no mstakes!

When do you know it's time to leave?  We talk about some of the reasons we decided to quit jobs - crazy bosses, lack of opportunity, too much stress.  In some cases, the decision was not ours to make.  We also discuss the aftermath of leaving.  Ever quit and wish you hadn't?  And what about those left behind?

Let's face it - losing stuff is no fun, whether you're at the office or not.  We talk about some of the things we've 'misplaced' (both small and large) and discuss the five stages of loss.

Ah, the first day at a new job.  Everyone has experienced that unique combination of terror and excitement.  Were you as welcomed as you'd hoped you'd be?  We weren't.

Believe it or not, we weren't always the mavericks of industry that we are today.  Everyone has to start somewhere.  We regale you with stories from our early employment experiences and discuss what we learned and what we wish we hadn't!

We thought we should take the time to read some fan mail and give our listeners a chance to hear the feedback we've been getting.  The emails are so unbelievable, it's almost as though they aren't real.

If you could do anything you wanted and get paid for it, what would you do?  We try to describe our dream jobs.  Believe it or not, it's not as easy as it sounds!  Supergirl makes her return, flying in unexpectedly to save the day.  We also have a new guest, known only as 'Splash.'

Ah, business travel.  Send us on the road, and strange things happen.

Are you charming or alarming?  Does it even matter?  We discuss whether it's better to be tactful or to just say exactly what's on your mind.  You can probably already guess where we land on the subject.

Bad luck - it seems to follow us wherever we go.  The Italians call it 'sfortunato.'  We take a break from the office to discuss how nothing ever seems to go right for us.  Can you relate?

Think it's fun to be the boss?  Think again.  Being a manager might be a hoot if it weren't for...well... employees.

Technology.  It's meant to help us - but does it really?  We discuss some of the challenges with the wired workplace.  And when we realize that everything we do is monitored, paranoia sets in.

Unless you work for yourself, you have to answer to someone.  Listen in as we discuss our experiences with our bosses.  And for the first time, we have a couple guests on the show to offer their own unique perspectives.

Why is it so hard to get things done in the corporate world?  Seems as though some policies - and people - exist only to make our lives more difficult.

Office politics - we're just not very good at them.  We discuss being out-maneuvered, saying the wrong things to the wrong people, and how it is that some folks never seem to suffer consequences.

It's time for that most dreaded of topics - interviewing!  No matter which side of the table you're on, it can be a nerve-wracking experience. 

From the Executive Suite to the mail room, the bathroom is the great equalizer.  How can you take your colleagues seriously once you know what goes on in there?  And heaven forbid that you forget the entry code in a panic. It's a nasty subject - and we're just the guys to tackle it.

Luncheons, office parties and endless collections for life events and charitable causes.  You need a raise just to pay for all this crap!
