Featuring candid conversations with authors throughout the year, this series gives you insight into what goes on behind the scenes. Well be looking at how and why writers do what they do, with some essential reading recommendations for good measure. Featuring candid conversations with authors throughout the year, these podcasts give you an insight into what goes on behind the scenes. Our first podcast features a conversation between our Artistic Director, Jemma Birrell, and Sunil Yapa, the author of the critically acclaimed Your Heart is a Muscle the Size. Sunil shares anecdotes about writing, book recommendations and many more literary tidbits. Sunil Yapa received his MFA from Hunter College, where he was awarded the Alumni Scholarship & Welfare Fund Fellowship and was selected twice as the Esquire Fiction Intern. In June 2010, he won the Asian American Short Story Award. In May 2010, Yapa was the writer-in-residence at the Norman Mailer Writers' Colony in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The son of a Sri Lankan father, and a mother from Montana, Sunil grew up in Pennsylvania and has since traveled and lived in 48 states
