  • Pixel by Pixel - Game of the year 2016

    18/01/2017 Duração: 02h13min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). We did it.  2016 is in the books.  And while one could argue that it was a dumpster fire of a year in general it really proved out to be a banner year for games. In this episode the gang quickly talks about being frozen in carbonite (or as close as Patrick will ever get to that) before getting right in to each of our Top 5 games of 2016.   We'll be back soon with a look forward to what's in-store for us in 2017 but as always thanks for listening.  We appreciate your support and opinions more than you know.  May 2017 treat you and yours well and and for the love of GOD please play the Objective in Overwatch... iTunes: here RSS: here email: pixelbypixelpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @pixelpodcast, @ptothedees, @LaughinMan7, @Nick_Long, @NotoriousEJE facebook: facebook.com/pixelbypixelpodcast   Intro

After the break we get to some great emails around the Killer App for Sony VR, Microsoft's Project Scorpio and Sony's potential response.  The landscape is quickly changing rapidly and makes for some fun speculation. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). Stop trying to predict and just let go.   No, seriously.  Welcome back.  This week we have Old Man Matty Ry joining Nick, Evan and Patrick at the top discussing Hit Man, Life is Strange, VR, and how technology is frightening and it scares him. Get off his lawn.    Nick haaaad to talk about Dark Souls 3 so Matt bounced but Evan and Patrick were excited to learn what's new from our resident expert.  Speaking of new, Endo and Patrick are deep into Quantum Break.  No time puns here.  Just play the game. We close with an email re: Uncharted 4 and PR cycles in games.  Thanks and keep the amazing emails coming.   Talk to you next week...   iTunes: here RSS: here email: pixelbypixelpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @p

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 99.9 - We Got Alex

    24/03/2016 Duração: 01h32min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). Oh man, this week we talk a little about our excitement around PlayStation VR .  And then, before getting to what we really want to talk about this week, we discuss the optics around the cross-platform play conversation (Friend of the show ) Phil Spencer started this past week. Then - that little indie that could... The Division. Its an admittedly flawed game that has its hooks in Evan and Patrick.  Deep. Buckle up.  We talk a lot about The Division.  And *spoilers* - we got Alex.   --Lots of Love The Pixel Crew   Games Discussed:  THE DIVISION.  Period.  That’s it.  All we got into.  There is a lot to discuss.  THE DIVISION   iTunes: here RSS: here email: pixelbypixelpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @pixelpodcast, @ptothedees, @LaughinMan7, @Nick_Long, @NotoriousEJE facebook: facebook.com/pixelbyp

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). We.  Are.  Back.  At least, some of us are.  And, kinda late.  Due to some personal challenges and scheduling we’re very behind but back on track with so much to talk about.  So we apologize for the release gap.  Thanks for staying with us. This past week Evan and Patrick talk about the “JUICE!” & their fascination with “The People vs OJ Simpson”, Marcia Clark’s inevitable lung cancer, and Ross’ emphatic yelling of “JUICE” every time Orenthal is near. After that we talk a bit about the state of Destiny and how Bungie seems to be in a no win sich right now.  However, a good part of the show is spent talking about indie darlings - Oxenfree and Firewatch.  What worked, what didn't work and how they both should be E-Sports.   Stay tuned after the break to hear Evan and Patrick do a deep spoil

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 99 - Too Many Hits

    22/01/2016 Duração: 01h54min

This episode we essentially lose our mind about the year in games we have ahead of us.  2016 is shaping up to be... well...insane.   But before we get to all of that we talk a lot about Prince for some reason and a bunch of other nonsense. Nick is back talking about Overwatch and, believe it or not, The Taken King.  And just after that Evan and Patrick extol the virtues of Oxenfree to encourage people to give it a shot.  Its something special. After the break we look forward at 2016 and the games we are most excited by/curious about. Please return your seat backs and your tray tables to their full, upright, and locked positions because 2016 is going to be rad. Games Discussed:  Destiny, Oxenfree, Tales from the Borderlands, and ALL OF 2016.  Literally, like, all of the games.  Its insane.  Too many hits.  Too many hits. iTunes: here RSS: here email: pixelbypixelpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @pixelpodcast, @ptothedees, @LaughinMan7, @Nick_Long, @NotoriousEJE facebook: facebook.com/pixelbypixelpodcast Music: Intro

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   Happy New Years! Sooo...how've you beeeeen?  Its been a while.  "Real life" managed to catch up with us yet again.  But New Year, new commitment to getting an episode out on the regular. Yep.  And Patrick is going to start playing Ori and the Blind forest any day... This week we talk about all the stuff that went in to us taking an extended break. Holiday season, CES, and Even got like..tuberculosis. Later, Endo and Dees discuss their approach to healthcare, controller mods, the XBO Elite Controller, being a Destiny Junkie, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, Fallout 4 and a whole lotta Consumer Electronic Show/VR speculation. Thanks for joining us again.  We've missed you.  Talk to you - next week. Games Discussed:  Destiny, Fallout 4, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, PlayStation VR, Ori and the Blind

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 97 - Sweet Wookie Meat

    21/12/2015 Duração: 01h32min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays!  This week we recorded just before we watched Force Awakens (and just before the Holiday Break)  so we ended up talking a metric about Star Wars.  We shared our experiences revisiting episodes 1-6 including some very disturbing realizations about the Ewoks.  Then, Endo and Dees have both finished and loved Rise of the Tomb Raider so we discussed both that and the new AC at length. We wrapped episode with some great listener questions around times we’ve  waited in line for games/consoles and the challenges of recommending games or other media to people that matter to us. Stay tuned.  We actually have a few episodes banked so you’ll get some more PxP before the New Year. All of the Pixelators wish you and yours the very best this Holiday season.  Enjoy some time

  • Pixel by Pixel - Maybe Episode 96 - Status: Raiding Tombs and not Falling Out

    22/11/2015 Duração: 01h13min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). Hey guys we are excited to be back after losing a couple of recorded episodes. The crew is down to just Evan and Patrick again this week. We know.  We're sorry. Someone please send help for Matty as he is very sick with the Fallout Flu and Nick is out taking care of businaaaaaasss. But, Video Games folks... they are out.  And when the dust settles 2015 will prove to be one of the greats. That said, this week we talk a TON about the Fallout 4 echo chamber and why we've elected to work our way through Rise of the Tomb Raider prior to making that leap. Both Evan and Patrick are really enjoying that game and we discuss what a great first impression it makes. Additionally, we debate a bit about games respecting our time, Destiny and its micro-transactions, Halo 5 thoughts, and why we do and don't

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 95 - They Should Have Sent a Poet...

    15/10/2015 Duração: 01h36min

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). Well look at that… Matty Ryan decided to grace us again with his presence.  And its like he never left. Patrick and Evan are glad he is here this week because Mr Robot, Fargo, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta, Cylon High Fashion, The Martian and how Mars is The Ginger Planet, and how Destiny The Taken King is quite a bit like your sexy Ex Girlfriend are topics that simply are not going to discuss themselves.  Its basically lot of talk about The Martian and about how Star Wars Battlefield beta may or may not be our jam. And srsly, somebody please save Patrick and Evan from Destiny.  Please.  This episode is a cry for help.  Anybody… please?   Games Discussed:  Star Wars Battlefront, Soma, Far Cry: Primal, Assassins Creed: Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed: The Shit, Last of Us and we really hope we snu

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 94 -Gears of War Mundane Bureaucracy Fanfic

    15/10/2015 Duração: 01h47min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   After a long delay - we are back! And this week Patrick is joined by not one, but TWO Endicotts.  Evan's brother joins us this week to discuss Metal Gear Solid V, Roller Coaster Immersion therapy, Until Dawn, and why Col Sanders is in Evan's GPS. Listener questions also rocked this week as we talked about potential gaming tattoos, and reaction speeds of "mature" gamers.  **NOTE** We apologize for the audio issues this week. Not only did Garage Band eat a section of the podcast but the quality is not what you are used to in this feed.  Its been fixed going forward but we didn't want to scrap a whole episode.  So here we are this week with what we could salvage.  Again, your email game has been on point.  We love hearing from you and we cant thank you enough. Keep them coming at pixelbypixelpo

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 93 - Recently elected "Big Boss of the Interior"

    28/09/2015 Duração: 01h50min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). This week we are joined by friend of the show and 17 time guest Kaori Takee (@Kaorious ) and we play "Was this Burning Man or Metal Gear Solid V?"  No, we don't, but probably should have. Evan attended Burning Man, lived to tell the tale, and apparently is going back?  And despite nearly dying of SARS on this weeks show Patrick sounds like seven year old in describing something in his imagination when talking about his adventures in Afghanistan with Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V. (Seriously tho.. rocket launcher from the back of horse...)  Nick too is all aboard the MGS V hype train and he valiantly attempts to have Evan and Kaori give it more time. Kaori has finished Until Dawn and after the break we ask her all about it before getting to some listener questions around the Jack the Ripper As

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 92 - Our Active Reload Game is ON POINT

    01/09/2015 Duração: 01h43min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   The Gears of War Ultimate Edition is out and if you’ve been tuning in Evan and Patrick have been more than excited about it for some time.  Does it live up to the hype?  Is Evan’s trash talk about his active reload game  for real?  We do a deep dive into the seminal Gears of War and how it has influenced game design for the better part of a decade. But before we get there we hit that MGS V hype, Konami as a whole, and Patrick loses his MIND discussing the Hitman Agent:47 movie. We round out Episode 92 covering off on some of the continued awesome emails that we’ve been recieving.  We get into our all-time greatest gaming achievements and what we’ve been disappointed with thus far in 2015 Again, your emails are incredible.  We love hearing from you and we cant thank you enough. Keep them comi

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 91 - Waiting for the Other Clue to Drop

    24/08/2015 Duração: 01h43min

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   Friend of the show Dave "Dark Souls" Klein is back in studio with Evan and Patrick this week.   We catch up a little with Dave, spit mad game about rap and rap inspired films, and Patrick gushes about his RTX 2015 experience and the incredible people he met in Austin. Gamescom is fresh in our minds and we rave about how dope Rise of the Tomb Raider looks, are trepidatious about Quantum Break, and as expected Dave looks for literally any reason to compare all of the above to his one true love - Dark Souls. Wrapping up the first segment Patrick has played Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and had his life changed for the better by finally completing Journey. After the break we hit some long over due listener questions - How have our gaming habits changed over the years?  Is the Playstation Plus

  • Pixel by Pixel - Episode 90 - Yo! It sound JUST like the album y'all!

    13/08/2015 Duração: 01h37min

Pixel by Pixel is a weekly podcast about video games (most of the time) and...other things. It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE). Yo, its sound just like the album y’all.  We are down to just Evan and Patrick again this week and one would think that would lead to a more focused conversation.  Noooope.  Patrick expresses his desire to be the “hype guy” in a rap group and is consequently schooled in just what that role really is and the the potential disapontment of seeing a rap concert in person.  We continue to to gush about Batman Akrham Knight and a smattering of everything else that we are playing (FC4 DLC,  Borderlands 2) , and after the break we come back to some really outstanding listener questions.   We end 91 talking about mechanics in modern  games that we want more of, and what just has go.  And have you ever started a game over and over and over?  How does one break the cycle?  We dont have an answer but w

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   Ever wondered what Nick, Evan, and Patrick have as their home screen apps on their iPhones?  Then Episode 90 is the one you have been waiting for!  No, seriously.  That is just the beginning of the nonsense.  Additionally in Episode 90 you'll find out who is getting a new dog, who is probably illuminati, and what our idle animations would be if we were 90s game characters.  We eventually talk about current games, and after the break we come back to some really outstanding listener questions.  To quote Evan.. Sha-boom.  Games Discussed:  Batman Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Rocket League, Mass Effect, Shenmue, Call of Duty, and of course...Shadow Complex     iTunes: here RSS: here email: pixelbypixelpodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @pixelpodcast, @ptothedees, @LaughinMan7, @Nick_Long, @NotoriousEJE fac

    20/07/2015 Duração: 01h42min

It's hosted by Patrick Dees (@ptothedees),  Nick Long (@Nick_Long), Matt Ryan(@LaughinMan7), and Evan Endicott (@NotoriousEJE).   SDCC has come and gone, we didn't go, and frankly are probably better for it.  That said, we lament that nearly zero gaming news emerged from the conference this year. (WHAT?! Ken is in Street Fighter V?!)  We are Jack’s complete lack of surprise. Nick has hit the whopping 100% in Batman: Arkham Knight and does a masterful job discussing with out revealing anything.  And thank God too. Go into that game knowing nothing.  Really, trust us.   We spend an evening in Gotham with Nick and then circle back up on the Witcher 3, its endings, and feeling accomplished in actually finishing games. After the break we come back and discuss every remaining big release calandered in 2015.  Buckle up.  Looks like it’s going to be an insane second half of the year.   Games Discussed:  BATMAN: Arkham Knigh
