  • EPISODE 444: THE LONG WALK

    26/12/2025 Duração: 02h05min

Happy holidays from the belly of the beast! This episode we review one of three Stephen King (AKA Richard Bachman) film adaptations this year, THE LONG WALK. It's set in a post-cataclysmic dystopian future where people volunteer for a grueling and dehumanizing endurance test with the hope of being compensated financially by the state which uses the ordeal to prop up national pride. What a nightmare, how does he come up with this stuff? "We have the means to return to our former glory. You boys are the answer. The Long Walk is the answer. When this is broadcast for all the states, your inspiration will continue to elevate our gross national product. We will be number one in the world again!", it's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode #444! Join our Patreon to support the show! • EPISODE 443: WEAPONS

    20/12/2025 Duração: 01h27min

Welcome to the new listeners and welcome back to everyone else!  This episode we discuss WEAPONS, writer/director Zach Cregger's much anticipated follow up to his 2022 breakout, Barbarian.  It involves a small town being ripped apart by the baffling disappearance of 17 children following a mysterious school tragedy, and...to say more would be a disservice. The film is currently available to stream on HBOMAX (or whatever we're calling it this week). "I can make your parents hurt themselves. I can make them hurt each other. I can make them eat each other if I want to", it's The Who Goes There Podcast episode 443! Join our Patreon to support the show! • EPISODE 442: TOGETHER

    10/12/2025 Duração: 01h43min

Well, well, well, here we go again. This episode we review the 2025 indie supernatural body horror film, TOGETHER. If the name and trailer weren't a hint, the movie traffics in themes of codependency, the blurring of self and identity, and commitment anxiety. Some of you may have seen it already, because you're dorks like us. But what did we in our collective wisdom think? You must listen and find out. "I think something's happening to us. The pole, the thirst in your bones. I can't explain it but, we're sick.  Well, you know, complacency can sometimes simply be harmony. We spend our lives in search of the other half. If you think you found that, don't be so quick to let it go", it's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 422!  Join our Patreon to support the show! • EPISODE 440: 28 YEARS LATER & BRING HER BACK

    14/10/2025 Duração: 01h40min

Greetings haomies! As we march onward into techno/christofascist hell, this episode we review not one, but two of the year’s most highly anticipated genre films, 28 YEARS LATER and BRING HER BACK.   For those counting, it’s been 18 years since the 2007 sequel to 2002’s modern horror classic, 28 Days Later. In the years since, Danny Boyle has won an oscar and Alex Garland graduated from screenwriter to becoming a formidable director (and show creator) in his own right. What’d these two come up with for the long awaited sequel, 28 YEARS LATER, and what did the three of us think? It’s on Netflix currently if you’ve yet to see it or would like to give it a rewatch.   BRING HER BACK is the follow up to the film debut of brothers Danny and Michael Philipou, writer/directors of 2022’s breakout A24 horror hit, Talk To Me. How did the Brothers Philipou, of former youtube horror/comedy RackaRacka video fame, do in their sophomore effort? Bring Her Back just became available to stream on HBOMAX.  "Some people believe

  • EPISODE 439: FINAL DESTINATION- BLOODLINES

    07/09/2025 Duração: 01h46min

This ep we review the sixth film (and first in 14 years) of the Final Destination franchise, FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES. Of course, this gives us an opportunity to rank our favorite kills in the franchise too. "For the 1,500th time, no one gives a shit about your stupid little death curse, okay? So take a hint and leave us alone because death's not coming for our family." It's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 439! Join our Patreon to support the show! • EPISODE 438: THE RULE OF JENNY PEN

    01/09/2025 Duração: 01h38min

This episode takes us into the despair and absurdity of dementia and old age in 2025's THE RULE OF JENNY PEN.  If you're going to explore the psychological horrors of mortality and aging it certainly helps to have actors like Jon Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush. The film is currently available to watch on Shudder. "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry", it's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 438!!!   Join our Patreon to support the show! Welcome back! This ep we review Ryan Coogler's 2025 genre-hopping hit, SINNERS, and a whole bunch of other stuff.  "There are legends of people... born with the gift of making music so true, it can pierce the veil between life and death. Conjuring spirits from the past... and the future. You keep dancing with the devil... one day, he's gonna follow you home." It’s the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 437!!! • EPISODE 436: ALTERED STATES

    02/07/2025 Duração: 01h34min

Drugs! Hallucinogens! Sensory deprivation! Ancient shamanic rituals! Religious angst! Psychosexual tension! Cellular memory! Consciousness expansion! The collective unconscious! The primal self! Practical effects! Body horror! Psychedelic nightmare visions of crucified beasts floating in the air! BOOBS! (That one was for Matt).  This episode we get into the trippy scifi horror of Ken Russell's 1980 cult classic, ALTERED STATES...and a bunch of other stuff.  "We all live with it. That unbearable terror is what makes us such singular creatures. We hide from it, we succumb to it, mostly we defy it! We build fragile little structures to keep it out. We love, we raise families, we work, we make friends. We write poems...Well, l think that that true self, that original self, that first self, is a real, quantifiable thing, tangible and incarnate, and I'm going to find the fucker."  It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 436! • EPISODE 435: THE DEAD ZONE

    22/06/2025 Duração: 01h16min

This episode wraps up a trifecta of Stephen King adaptations, as we review 1983's THE DEAD ZONE, which has quite the pedigree, Cronenberg! Walken! King! The movie also features Martin Sheen as a corrupt, dangerously opportunistic politician who exploits populism to gain authoritarian power and could hold the fate of the world in his hands if he isn't stopped. Chilling stuff, thankfully we don't have anything like that going on. "THE ICE, IS GONNA BREAK!" It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 435! Join our Patreon to support the show! • EPISODE 434: THE MONKEY

    10/06/2025 Duração: 01h02min

Alright haomies...this episode we review Oz Perkins' film adaption of the Stephen King short story, THE MONKEY. And of course we get into it about a bunch of other films and non sequiturs. Pre-show which is available exclusively to our Patreon members has even more unedited and off the wall discussions, including our experience seeing a charming band called Chat Pile here in sunny San Diego. Up next we wrap up a little series of King adaptations with THE DEAD ZONE (1983). "Everybody dies. Some of us peacefully and in our sleep, and some of us... horribly. And that's life. Did you know that 27 percent of all English-speaking people will either say 'horseshit' or 'holy shit' before they die? Now, it's funny, because death is the one big thing that'll happen to all of us, and yet we still can't help but be somehow surprised by it." It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 433! • EPISODE 433: THE NIGHT FLIER

    18/05/2025 Duração: 01h45min

Greetings from the 9th Circle of Hell!   Every now ad then the Lord of WGT Patreon (you should join btw) picks a movie for us to watch and review. And so it came to pass that Lord Hans bestowed us with a choice between the 1997 HBO movie adaptation of Stephen King's The Night Flier, or The Dread Central production, Benny Loves You. As you can see, we decided on the former. Worry not friends, as we of course make sure to address our reasoning behind this critical decision on the episode. Once this this little series of King adaptations is wrapped up we get into the 1980 Ken Russell directed Paddy Chayefsky written psych/scifi horror freakout of ALTERED STATES before weighing in on Ryan Coogler's 2025 genre-mashup runaway hit, SINNERS. “He was wearing a big cloak he was. Red as a fire engine inside, black as a woodchuck's asshole outside. And when it spread out behind him, it looked like a goddamn bat's wing it did. After talking to these crazy people all day every single day, their stories can get to you. Cr

  • 1: EPISODE 432: UNHINGED

    26/04/2025 Duração: 01h32min

Why did we do this movie? Well, primarily because it was the only way to make Jorge watch it. Secondly because, to quote King Hans, "coffee cup smash face." Enjoy! King Pick selection for the 1997 Stephen King adaptation The Night Flier up next after this, followed by The Monkey, and yet another Stephen King adaptation after that with The Dead Zone (1983). Then, a very special selection after that before getting into Ryan Coogler's new genre mashup, SINNERS. "I'm sorry... but I don't think you know what a really bad day is! But you'll fucking learn. You're gonna fucking learn." It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode #432! Join our Patreon to support the show! Well well well, here we go again. This episode we review Art the Clown's third outing, and this one is set during Christmas! • 427: EPISODE 427: SMILE 2

    21/01/2025 Duração: 01h11min

We're back! Just in time to help you cope with Trump 2.0 This episode we review writer/director Parker Finn's follow up to his 2022 debut, SMILE 2. Skye Riley: Well, have you gone to the police? Morris: And say what? My brother's suicide was actually caused by some cosmic evil being that no one else can see? The police can't stop this thing anyway. Skye: So I'm just supposed to wait until this thing kills me? Morris: No, I want you to help me destroy it. Skye: How? Morris: From what I can tell, the chain stops when an infected host dies in some other way outside of the being's control. My guess is that, just like other parasites, without a living host it has no way to survive. It's ceases to exist. Skye: So it only stops if--if I die before it kills me? Morris: Exactly. We need to kill you first. Skye: What?! It's the Who Goes There Podcast Episode #427! Join our Patreon to support the show and help us keep doing it! • EPISODE 426: LITTLE OTIK

    10/01/2025 Duração: 01h23min

This episode we get weird, like that's anything new, with the turn of the century Czechoslovakian dark comedy surrealist horror of LITTLE OTIK (aka Greedy Guts). Oh you've never heard of it? Good gooooooooood. Neither had we to be honest. Credit goes to the current lord of our Patreon, King Hans! He always gives us the wildest recommendations, and we love him for it, as we do all our supporters and Patreon members. "Show me your Otik. That's his name, isn't it? Don't worry, I won't eat him. He's our child and we have to stick by him through thick and thin." It's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 426! Join our Patreon to support the show and help us keep doing it! • EPISODE 425: THE SUBSTANCE

    25/12/2024 Duração: 02h04min

French Writer/Director Coralie Fargeat made her feature film debut with 2017's REVENGE, a visceral, vibrant, and often lyrical rape/revenge thriller. The film leaned hard into tropes usually reserved for more action oriented films featuring an initially victimized protagonist transforming into a lethal retributive anti-hero. Fargeat herself said she was directly influenced by films like Mad Max, Rambo, and Kill Bill. Revenge was a favorite of ours on the show in it's year of release, and one of the more notable genre feature film debuts in a decade full of them. She was also praised as one of the more exciting voices in contemporary feminist cinema, along with her contemporary Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane), also hailing from France, as they both brought a woman's perspective and a contemporary lens to Cronenbergian body horror and psychosexual tension. Needless to say, we were optimistic and curious about what Fargeat would do next. "One single injection unlocks your DNA, starting a new cellular division,

  • EPISODE 424: STRANGE DARLING

    17/12/2024 Duração: 01h40min

There are surprises every year in the world of cinema, you never quite know what's going to pan out and end up delivering the goods. A lot of things that sound good on paper end up being poor in execution, and vice versa. There's always the approach of relying on a filmmakers track record and having a reasonable amount of confidence in their next project, but even then there are disappointments and (usually) inevitable decline. There's the "brand loyalty" idea, where you stick with a franchise even though it starts SUCKING ASS, and in recent years no shortage of legacy sequels. Every year also brings it's share of unintentionally hilarious cinematic disasters. This year alone has brought us Megacockulus, Madame Web, Joker: Folie a Deux, Borderlands, Argylle, Tarot, Rebel Moon- Part Two, Imaginary, Night Swim, and The Exorcism, among others (add Kraven The Hunter to that list). Then, there's these films you barely hear shit about (or nothing about) until their release is imminent which pull a complete sne
