Bridging The Gap

Divorce rates are high, domestic violence cases are high, and our court system is clogged up with five dollar lawsuits between best friends. What are we to do about this sorry situation? The first place to go is God's word. Pastor Lloyd is currently leading us in a series through the Proverbs, and today we receive some good advice on conducting our lives and loves, from Proverbs chapter nineteen.

Remember way back when….. when those "WWJD" bracelets were all the rage? "What would Jesus Do? was the question, and it seemed that a lot of people who were wearing them weren't exactly living a Godly life. The word for that is hypocrisy. The best way to show your faith in God is to live a Godly life, bracelet or not! That's what Proverbs chapter nineteen is all about.

Today Lloyd will again take us to the book of Proverbs as we bring you more from chapter eighteen. As I mentioned a few moments ago, the topic today will again be friendship. Like any valuable possession, friendships need to be maintained and protected from harm. How can we do that in a world that seems to value relationships less and less?

 Lloyd has titled today's message "Friendship and the Tongue". One of the most rewarding and pleasant experiences we have is maintaining close friendships. Having someone you can rely on, and being someone who can be relied on is an important component in a happy life. God has some very distinct advice for us in this area.

God is refining us and purifying us. One area in which we all can use a little refining is in the use of our tongues. We've all been guilty of saying something we regretted as the words were coming out of our mouth. It's sort of like a mean email, isn't it? Once you click "send", it's too late to take it back! Turn to Proverbs seventeen.

What makes you happy? There are about 343 million people in this country and I'd wager that there are about the same number of answers to that question! The truth of the matter is that happiness is fleeting if we wrap it up in the things of this earth.  Right now, let's turn in our Bibles to Proverbs seventeen.

Today we'll return to Proverbs chapter sixteen for some more Godly wisdom about sovereignty, and God's divine guidance. 

Today on Bridging the Gap we'll begin to uncover the secret of knowing God's will. Selfishness, or more appropriately, our stubborn refusal as humans to let God be the sovereign leader of our lives, is a hindrance to knowing God's will. Our text is Proverbs chapter sixteen.

Do you enjoy cooking? Even if you're not that great at it, cooking is a lot of fun, and a great source of satisfaction. Any cook worth their salt knows that preparation is a key to a successful dish! Today on Bridging the Gap, we'll bring you another study in Proverbs, as we learn how to have a properly prepared heart.

When you go to church this Sunday, will you prepare ahead of time? I don't mean putting on the appropriate clothing and making sure you bring your Bible. Those things are fine, but I mean will you prepare your heart for worship? Having a prepared heart is so important in that setting and many others as well. Let's join pastor Lloyd now for a study in Proverbs chapter fifteen.

Today pastor Lloyd Pulley continues his verse by verse study through the Proverbs. What is your goal in life? Lots of cash? A fancy car? A twelve bedroom house? These are the goals of many people, but in Proverbs chapter fourteen, we learn what our goal should really be - to serve and worship Jesus Christ and share His love with those around us.

Proverbs chapter fourteen is the focal point of today's message, as we examine a type of compromise that can destroy your chances of winning the most important game of all - the game of life. Lloyd has titled this message "The Wise and the Foolish Contrasted". It's up to us to decide which way we'll go.

 If we truly desire to make our life meaningful and beneficial to our family and friends, we need God to play a significant role. In fact, He should be the "star of the show", if we truly want lasting results. That means we need diligence when it comes to what we say and what we do.

 It's important for Christians to back up the words we say about a relationship with Jesus Christ, with a life that reflects those words. In this day and age when Christianity is under constant attack, our best weapon is a life that reflects the biblical truths we proclaim.

I think we all would agree that a successful life is a worthy goal for everyone. The thing we have to really be careful about is our definition of success. The world has its own definition - money, fame, website clicks, but God has another, and that's what we'll look at today. Our scripture text today is Proverbs chapter eleven.

Honesty and integrity seem to be out of style these days, don't they? From politics, to the courtroom, to the classroom, we're encouraged to do whatever it takes to succeed - whether it's honest or not. Is it possible to live a life of integrity? It is possible, with God's help.

Today our teacher, pastor Lloyd Pulley returns to the tenth chapter of Proverbs for some truth about truth. Pastor Lloyd begins today's study with a look at two men from the book of Daniel who made very different choices when it came to listening to God and acknowledging His truth - King Nebuchadnezzar, and his grandson, King Belshazzar. 

Today, we'll begin a study in Proverbs chapter ten. This chapter is actually where the "proverbs" begin. Up until now, Solomon has been explaining the virtues of wisdom and preparing us to hear the marvelous truths we'll begin looking at today.

There is something to be said for learning lessons through failure, but today on Bridging the Gap, we'll be reminded once again that true wisdom comes from only one source - The God who created everything. Pastor Lloyd Pulley is leading us on a verse by verse journey through Proverbs, a book all about wisdom. 

Today we begin a two part study in Proverbs eight and nine. This incredible book of wisdom was written by a very wise man named Solomon. The thing that set Solomon apart in the wisdom department was his faith that any knowledge he had was useless without God's wisdom attached.
