Steve and Lindsey messed up last hour. They detail what happened and how they’re going to make it up to Steve Carney. Heather Rule stops by to talk about the Olympic-laden Minnesota Frost who lost to Ottawa earlier this afternoon. Steve and Lindsey wrap the show talking about the final week in the NFL regular season and what games they would have to be paid to watch.

Heather Rule is an award-winning freelance sports journalist who covers the Minnesota Frost. The Frost lost earlier today 5-2 to the Ottawa Charge after a tough second period performance. Heather speaks to a wonky season it has been so far for the Frost, they’ve been on the road a lot (World Juniors) and an upcoming Olympic break. Six players made it from the Frost which is a league high.

Pat Coleman from D3Football.com joins the show often during the college football season. He’s covering the NCAA Division III national championship game, where the University of Wisconsin River Falls will face North Central College. Pat runs through the big names on UWRF that will be featured in the championship game. North Central College has won a handful of natty’s already and has been in the championship in the past six seasons. It will be a tall task to wrap up a magical season for UWRF!

Chris Peters is a content manager at Flo Hockey and NHL Draft & Prospects Analyst. He’s been covering the World Junior Championships. Steve asks for Chris’ opinion on the event being hosted here. Chris still thinks the United States has a long ways to go in recognizing and following the tournament. They chat a bit about the broadcasting landscape and how having the tournament on NHL Network wasn’t great for streaming households. With their loss last night to Finland, Chris says this year’s performance is especially deflating for Team USA. Chris gives his thoughts on the remaining four teams.

Jess Myers covers the Wild for the Pioneer Press. He’s on a balcony in LA covering the Wild’s west coast roadie. The Sharks seem to have the Wild’s number and Steve asks Jess for an explanation. The explanation… Macklin Celebrini. Jess also shares some shared history between the North Stars and Sharks. They then wade into Quinn Hughes’ record performance last night in Anaheim.

Every Saturday at 4:07pm the meeting of the Steves commences. He says the lakes have been packed with plenty of drivers and that it’s hard to find solitude on the ice. Steve Thomson isn’t comfortable with any big rigs on the ice and says he will stick to portables and snowmobiles. Carney says all the traffic brings tons of noise on the ice especially without a lot of snow. Carney also details how disruptive wind can be to ice fishing but anticipates a big week ahead due to calmer weather.

Steve and Lindsey reminisce about section hockey games played at the Coliseum on the State Fair grounds. Steve says if he wins the jackpot he will make sure games return to that hallowed arena. He joins Steve to discuss dare we say the win of the season so far… the Thunder have nothing on the Wolves on December 19th! Chris thinks last night was the defensive standard that the Wolves are looking to produce each night. They also talk about Chris Finch being ejected last night spoke for more teams than the Wolves as tensions boiled over after a handful of early non calls.

He recommends waiting another week before bringing the big machines on the ice. Steve also says without the snow the fish are very easily spooked. They can hear everything going on above the ice so quit your yapping and save it for the fireplace when you get inside. The Steves also discuss ice fishing participation booming, the fastest growing of the outdoor activities. Steve also provides his turkey jerky making process and how accessible it is for you!

Regan McAthie is the Athletic Director for Concordia St. Paul. She’s in Sioux Falls where Concordia will compete for the NCAA DII Volleyball title today vs MSU Denver. The team is no stranger to the title stage, with a victory they would secure the program’s ninth championship. Their roster features a ton of Minnesota talent, Regan speaks to the volleyball hotbed we have here in our backyard. Regan played volleyball for Augustana and has family connections to the tournament. She provides her expectations for the title match tonight and kind of team they’re playing against.

They also touch on the Wild keeping the Oilers offense in check. Jess previews tonight’s matchup against the Vancouver Canucks who are mostly a dumpster fire. They also discuss some college hockey and the World Junior Classic.
