On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the back-to-back weekend where the Panthers got two wins in two different ways, and they defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-6 in OT after being down three goals, in the second period and getting their first win when going into the third period trailing, while also scoring the second latest OT winner in franchise history in a game that they were chasing the entire time. They then followed it with shutting down the New York Islanders by a final of 4-1 where they got up 2-0 and never allowed the Isles to tie it. Two insurance goals in the third helped seal it while the Cats only gave up two SOG's in the third. Carter Verhaeghe stayed hot with a three-goal weekend, Eetu Luostarinen made his return to the lineup after being out due to an in home BBQ accident, and the lineup felt truly balanced again with their ability to roll their lines on the second end of the back-to-back. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Joey Ganzi(@Mister_Joester) to break down the Panthers 2-1 OT loss to the Nashville Predators, where the Panthers had the lead for the majority of the game, thanks to new dad Carter Verhaeghe., There were many opportunities to create insurance goals with six power play opportunities and even getting four short handed shots on goal. In a penalty filled game, the Cats couldn't take advantage, which cost them a point. Predators tied it 53 minutes into the game after a battle at the net front from Ryan O'Reilly. Panthers had a good amount of control in OT and it took Nashville over two minutes to finally get control, and on a transition play, Gustav Forsling slid into Sergei Bobrovsky and Nashville knocked it into a dislodged net to get the OT winner. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) was joined by Jacob Winans(@JakeW_8) to break down the Panthers 4-1 loss to Toronto, where it was the Leafs bottom six getting on the board in the first eight minutes of the contest. The same line of Dakota Joshua-Nicholas Roy-Bobby McMann were the ones to convert on the night as they created the first two goals. Already without Carter Verhaeghe due to the birth of his child, the Cats were once again playing catch up as it's another multi-goal deficit, which now they are at the second most across the NHL. Florida was able to cut it to a one-goal game scoring short handed on the Leafs five-forward power play, thanks to Sam Reinhart, who skated in his 800th career game. Florida was unable to create space in the offensive zone, get to the inside and make life on Joseph Woll difficult, and were consistently losing draws on the evening. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) was joined by Jacob Winans(@JakeW_8) to break down the Panthers 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers as Philadelphia scored four unanswered after the Panthers took a 2-0 lead, including two in the final minute to deny the Panthers a chance at any points. Sam Bennett stayed hot as he got a two assist night, and Carter Verhaeghe with a second consecutive game with a goal after going 13 games without scoring a goal. Florida however struggled to create any more separation, especially on their power play where they had a tough time gaining the blue line. They were able to dodge a couple of Flyers opportunities as they had almost a handful of odd man rushes, but couldn't connect to the net. Florida also couldn't connect on net on their passes cross ice in their offensive zone, and it kept the Flyers within distance. It was all about the Panthers speed and Nashville was not able to keep up. It's the second straight Monday where the Panthers put up eight goals, but this one might be more impressive, as all the goals came at even strength (one at four-on-four) and the Panthers chased Jusse Saros after scoring the fifth goal. The Panthers fell behind less than a minute into the game when Jack Roslovic threw the puck from the half wall and got squeezed by Sergei Bobrovsky, although the Cats tied it six minutes, later, the Oilers responded less than a minute later, and the Cats had to play catch up from there. Florida took advantage of the Devils not connecting on passing out of their own end, and it was crucial as there were not a lot of stoppages and had to rely on not getting caught in line changes. The jersey is a dedication to the Panthers original logo from when they first entered the league in 1993, while also dedicating to hockey history in South Florida. The Tropical Hockey League has provided a major influence in the design of the sweater from the shoulder logo, to the pants. With the injury situation with Cole Schwindt being out long term and Eetu Luostarinen being day-to-day, Jack Devine gets his chance. Leading the Checkers in points in his very first full season in pro hockey, he is called up a lot earlier than expected, but leading the way in Charlotte in points after coming in at the end of last season, he's fast tracked himself to hit the ice. The Panthers have scored in bunches at times, especially in two of the last three games, and Seth Jones has been a catalyst as to why. We discuss his play as of late and does he actually have a chance to make the US Olympic Roster. It was an offensive outburst from both teams, although the Panthers controlled play from the jump, it was the Canucks who got out to a 2-0 lead, but the Panthers kept pushing as they were able to tie it heading into the seconds, and it was a continuation of the Panthers dominance as they scored five unanswered. There was a stretch where the Cats didn't allow a shot in the first 11 minutes of the game, and even when the Canucks responded to get it to a two goal deficit in the second, the Panthers had a strangle hold where they went a 9 minute stretch without allowed a shot as the Panthers kept winning face-offs and boards battles in the Canucks zone.
