After being given a magic ticket by theater manager Nick (Robert Prosky), Danny is sucked into the screen and bonds with Slater. In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both human beings and canines in the camp and they discover that the beast can assume the shape of its victims. A resourceful helicopter pilot (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) lead the camp crew in a desperate, gory battle against the vicious creature before it picks them all off, one by one.   Host Jack hits a homerun with this childhood favorite and it still holds up to today!  1982's "The Thing" by John Carpenter is an amazing piece of storytelling, atmosphere creating and downright impressive compilation of puppet work / special fx.  Who cares what critics said in 1982 when it came out! This movie is amazing!  Listen to the boys discuss film history, trivia, and just reminisce over how much love they have for this film.  So grab your cold weather gear, a bottle of J&B and let the paranoia set in!

Ep. 104: The Frightenters-   Once an architect, Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) now passes himself off as an exorcist of evil spirits. This film update of the "Maverick" TV series finds the title cardsharp (Mel Gibson) hoping to join a poker contest with an impressive payoff. In order to enter, Maverick must first put up a large cash sum. He scams hopeful contestants Annabelle (Jodie Foster) and Angel (Alfred Molina) in a preliminary card game to win the money he needs, making enemies of both players. While trying to evade Annabelle and Angel, the crafty Maverick realizes a cunning marshal (James Garner) is also on his tail.   When you think of "Period Piece" you think of 1994's Maverick... right?  Well, host Nathan sure did!  But regardless of host Jack's feelings, this was one fun recording!
