The Good Brothers return to the future once again as they kick off the month with a review of the Batman Beyond Season 3 episode "Untouchable." Jumping right into the plot, Cal points out how familiar the plot points are when compared to other DCAU stories, and both hosts bemoan the continued characterization of Terry as a dirtbag boyfriend. While the animation does feature some interesting visuals, including the effect overlay of the Repeller's suit, discussion is had regarding one scene with inconsistent cel shading, how Batman chooses which rebreather to use and Blüdhaven's appearance. The Good Brothers are taking a trip around the Multiverse for their 5th Saturday of the month as they review the 2012 Direct-to-video film Superman vs. The Elite. The film, which is an adaptation of Action Comics Issue 775, features a plot that needed to be expanded to meet the needs of a feature length run time which means the hosts take a little extra time discussing it which leads to a longer than normal episode of the pod. When discussing the plot they compare and contrast the additions not found in the original issue, while also noting the difficulties of adapting comics into animation. They also talk about the temptation to project human faults on the Superman character, why it needs to stop and how the character's innate goodness differs from any real life heroes we see in the world. The Good Brothers wind down another stay in Dakota with a review of Season Two's episode "Pop's Girlfriend" which sees a familiar sitcom-style trope of Virgil's Dad Robert venturing out into the dating pool, only to discover that things have a way of being complicated when it comes to your kids being accepting of the idea. The host discuss the subplot of racial profiling and whether they feel like it's done in a way that's as effective as some of the other real-world topics discussed on other episodes of Static Shock. Cal & Liam also talk about a brand new animation studio that arrives on the scene with mixed results, major plot holes involving two of the episodes' antagonists, and more outstanding voice acting from two of our series regulars and much more. We are past the halfway point of Season Three of Batman The Adventures Continue with this month's review of Issue Four which sees the middle part of the three part story "Crack Up!" This month features the resolution to a few cliffhangers from last month including the identity of the latest red-hooded assassin, as well as more of the mysterious past of Joker's latest sidekick, The Straightman and a few Easter Eggs that point to a certain "Dark Knight of the Future". Cal & Liam are not alone this month however, as the long awaited return of Best Friend of The Show, Monica Kubina the colorist for all three seasons joins the podcast to talk working with different artists and styles for BTAC, getting back in the saddle with penciler Ty Templeton, working on art for WB's Batman: The Animated Series 30th Anniversary merchandise and some of her favorite panels and scenes thus far from Season Three. Hold on to your hats, because the Good Brothers are reviewing their final Season One episode of Static Shock appropriately titled "Winds of Change." The hosts do their best to break down the plot that covers a familiar drama trope of "what would happen if the best friend heroes fought?!?" and added in a dash of "what if Fat Albert was an evil Bang Baby with the powers of the wind?!?" The result is a fun episode with the origins of one of the items in Static's arsenal and a goofy villain whose theme song is described as "Circus Hip-hop."
