It's been a busy week here at the DCAU Review but we're not stopping as we bring you our third episode of the week, this one is standard fare however, discussing the Superman: The Animated Series episode "The Prometheon." The Good Brothers discuss an episode that's light on dialogue and action and with a plot that compares to classic monster films. Hear discussions on some not-so subtle commentary on why certain people fear "aliens", a soundtrack that was tasked with carrying a larger-than-normal load, and why a lack of dialogue in this episode was necessary. After several months of anticipation, the most exciting week in the DCAU community in recent memory is here and the Good Brothers have plenty of content to act as a companion for two new DCAU tie-in comics. This episode kicks off monthly reviews of Justice League Infinity, which pairs JLU writer and J.M DeMatteis with DCAU Legend, Director/Writer/Producer/Storyboard Artist James Tucker as writers for the comic with art from Ethen Beavers and Nick Filardi and picks up right after season 3 of Justice League Unlimited. This episode the hosts discuss their joy of being back in this part of the DCAU, what they loved and didn't love from this offering and where they hope to see this series go over the next 5 issues. The temperatures are soaring and so is the Man of Steel as the Good Brothers return to Metropolis for the month of July with more reviews of Superman: The Animated Series. Their first critique this month is of the episode "Two's A Crowd" which features the second appearance of Rudy Jones aka The Parasite on the show. Join the hosts as they discuss a plot that sees several plot points lifted from classic thrillers including a few nods to Dr. Hannibal Lecter and a continued theme of horror elements involving the Parasite. Hear also about a joke that may have slipped by the censors involving Rudy's demands for help, Superman's water suit that may have been designed specifically to sell action figures, musical notes that rely heavily on the triumphant Shirley Walker Superman theme and some excellent voice acting from an actor best known from that other comic book universe. The Good Brothers are wrapping up the month of June and their latest stay in Dakota with a monumental crossover episode of Static Shock that not only features the Man of Steel but also provides a direct sequel to an episode of Superman: The Animated Series with this week's episode entitled "Toys In The Hood." The hosts discuss the oddity of this being one of two episodes of Static not featured on the HBO Max streaming service, the difference in plot choices between this and prior crossover episodes, Toyman's "Insane Clown Posse" and an unnerving character design choice for the Last Son of Krypton. They also discuss one voice actor pulling double duty, a quizzical choice for Superman's theme music and the choice to Deus Ex Machina Static's powers to fit the need to have him be the episode's ultimate hero. Despite some slight audio issues with the recording, the Good Brothers are back for their third week of Static Shock reviews, with this week's discussion of the Season One episode "Tantrum." The hosts discuss a plot that deals heavily with Virgil coping with the feelings that come from losing a loved one and how running away from those feelings can often times cause long term mental health effects. Tied into the plot however as the hosts discuss, is a rather outdated stereotype that leaves the plot feeling a bit empty. Also discussed is why so many of Static's rogues use purple in their color palette, how the music feels straight out of 1996 Pixar at times and a show case of why Phil Lamarr is one of the best voice actors to ever step in front of a live microphone. The Good Brothers are back and they're feeling electric to start the month of June as they return to covering more of Static Shock for its' entirety. The boys kick off the month with a Double Feature as they review both "The New Kid" and "Junior" which are episodes that delve a little more into the overarching baddie Edwin Alva's nefarious schemes in season one of the show. The month of Magic continues as the Good Brothers continue their trip highlighting some of the DCAU's mystical all-stars, and this week is sure to go down as one of the most controversial DCAU Review episodes to date as they cover the Justice League Unlimited episode "This Little Piggy." Continuing with another review of a classic Batman: The Animated Series cartoon, the Good Brothers continue in the second episode of the Clayface saga, titled "Mudslide." The hosts talk a plot that has its ups and downs including an odd twist that ends up making Batman out to be a villain in the same vein as Ferris Boyle. Visuals steal the show however as a relatively unknown animation studio incorporates some elements of horror and old Hollywood lore to create an outstanding treat for the eyes.
