Ep. 165 - STAS - Two's A Crowd
03/07/2021 Duração: 01h09minThe temperatures are soaring and so is the Man of Steel as the Good Brothers return to Metropolis for the month of July with more reviews of Superman: The Animated Series. Their first critique this month is of the episode "Two's A Crowd" which features the second appearance of Rudy Jones aka The Parasite on the show. Join the hosts as they discuss a plot that sees several plot points lifted from classic thrillers including a few nods to Dr. Hannibal Lecter and a continued theme of horror elements involving the Parasite. Hear also about a joke that may have slipped by the censors involving Rudy's demands for help, Superman's water suit that may have been designed specifically to sell action figures, musical notes that rely heavily on the triumphant Shirley Walker Superman theme and some excellent voice acting from an actor best known from that other comic book universe. Plus some fun speculation on why S.T.A.R. Labs' books should've been audited and more Emil Hamilton hate all on this week's all new DCAU Revie

Ep. 164 - Static Shock - Toys In The Hood
26/06/2021 Duração: 01h08minThe Good Brothers are wrapping up the month of June and their latest stay in Dakota with a monumental crossover episode of Static Shock that not only features the Man of Steel but also provides a direct sequel to an episode of Superman: The Animated Series with this week's episode entitled "Toys In The Hood." The hosts discuss the oddity of this being one of two episodes of Static not featured on the HBO Max streaming service, the difference in plot choices between this and prior crossover episodes, Toyman's "Insane Clown Posse" and an unnerving character design choice for the Last Son of Krypton. They also discuss one voice actor pulling double duty, a quizzical choice for Superman's theme music and the choice to Deus Ex Machina Static's powers to fit the need to have him be the episode's ultimate hero. All of this, a preview of next week's episode and much more await you on this week's DCAU Review! Ep. 163 - Static Shock - Tantrum
19/06/2021 Duração: 49minDespite some slight audio issues with the recording, the Good Brothers are back for their third week of Static Shock reviews, with this week's discussion of the Season One episode "Tantrum." The hosts discuss a plot that deals heavily with Virgil coping with the feelings that come from losing a loved one and how running away from those feelings can often times cause long term mental health effects. Tied into the plot however as the hosts discuss, is a rather outdated stereotype that leaves the plot feeling a bit empty. Also discussed is why so many of Static's rogues use purple in their color palette, how the music feels straight out of 1996 Pixar at times and a show case of why Phil Lamarr is one of the best voice actors to ever step in front of a live microphone. All of this and a sneak preview for next week's much anticipated/demanded review to wrap up June and much more on this episode of the DCAU Review! Ep. 162 - Static Shock - Bent Out of Shape
12/06/2021 Duração: 55minThe month of June continues with another review of Static Shock by the Good Brothers, this week reviewing the follow up to the Rubberband Man's origin tale "Bent Out of Shape." Hear the hosts discuss an episode that was animated by a pair of production studios leading to some lackluster visuals, more music with an absence of lyrics and the introduction of a pair of characters that are neither villain nor hero. Plus, Cal and Liam talk an absence of deeper meaning in the plot and how they might have written it differently, a voice actor that plays multiple roles and much more on this week's all new DCAU Review! Ep. 161 - Static Shock - The New Kid & Junior
05/06/2021 Duração: 01h23minThe Good Brothers are back and they're feeling electric to start the month of June as they return to covering more of Static Shock for its' entirety. The boys kick off the month with a Double Feature as they review both "The New Kid" and "Junior" which are episodes that delve a little more into the overarching baddie Edwin Alva's nefarious schemes in season one of the show. Both episodes surprise the hosts with plots dealing with insecurities and parental relationships, music that takes a back seat for better or worse, comically mean dad dialogue and voice casts that include one DCAU veteran, another recognizable voice, and one very obvious Michael Douglas impression. Ep. 157- JLU - This Little Piggy
08/05/2021 Duração: 01h16minThe month of Magic continues as the Good Brothers continue their trip highlighting some of the DCAU's mystical all-stars, and this week is sure to go down as one of the most controversial DCAU Review episodes to date as they cover the Justice League Unlimited episode "This Little Piggy." Whether you love or hate this episode, there's no denying this is a Paul Dini written episode, featuring his humor on full display and the hosts discuss that heavily in the plot discussion, including the rare strong disagreement about the execution of the plot that sees Wonder Woman transformed into a pig by the villainous Circe! Additionally the hosts discuss the visuals including Wonder Pig's classic bracelet deflection technique, lions, tigers and black panthers (not that one) and the updated look for Zatanna. Music takes center stage (pun intended) this week as we not only have guest hero themes, but not one, but TWO musical numbers from our characters and voice performances that combine great acting along with Broadway a

Ep. 156 - STAS - The Hand of Fate
01/05/2021 Duração: 57minEverything's magic during "Magic May" here at the DCAU Review, as Cal and Liam kick off their month celebrating the mystical-side of the DCAU with the Superman The Animated Series episode entitled "The Hand of Fate." Hear a breakdown of the visuals of the dark creatures from the underworld, storyboarded by DCAU legend James Tucker. Also the hosts discuss a soundtrack that wasn't quite given proper time to shine due to the plot and a large voice cast that includes a discussion on which Dr. Fate casting the hosts prefer. Plus a thorough discussion on the sound engineering, more Star Trek spoilers and a preview for next week’s exciting continuation of the month of magic, all on this week's all-new DCAU Review! 24/04/2021 Duração: 01h01minThe Good Brothers are wrapping up the month of April with one more review from Batman: The Animated Series with this week's discussion of "Zatanna." This episode has the designation of being the first indication of there being a larger superhero presence outside of the Dark Knight and the hosts discuss the decision to make Zatanna a performer rather than a crime-fighting sorceress. They also discuss some hilarious head canon about the true identity of Dr. Montague Kane, whether Batman kills two thugs, and the GCPD's snap response to send Zatanna to jail. Ep. 154 - BTAS - Paging The Crime Doctor
17/04/2021 Duração: 01h09minThe doctor is definitely in this week as Cal and Liam continue reviewing Batman: The Animated Series episodes all month, and this week's episode "Paging The Crime Doctor" is another story-driven episode that doesn't need to focus on the colorful Batman Rogues Gallery to tell a compelling tale. Hear the Good Brothers discuss a plot that centers around a pair of not-so-good brothers and more backstory for some of Batman's closest supporting characters. Cal and Liam speculate on Dr. Leslie Thompkins past involvement with Thomas Wayne, a soundtrack that carries the episode with an amazingly poignant callback to one of the first BTAS episodes! Plus hear a discussion on the nuances of Kevin Conroy's Bruce Wayne voice, some unique #CapeMovement and another scene that made one of the hosts throw his fist in the air in celebration. Ep. 153 - BTAS - Mudslide
10/04/2021 Duração: 01h08minContinuing with another review of a classic Batman: The Animated Series cartoon, the Good Brothers continue in the second episode of the Clayface saga, titled "Mudslide." The hosts talk a plot that has its ups and downs including an odd twist that ends up making Batman out to be a villain in the same vein as Ferris Boyle. Visuals steal the show however as a relatively unknown animation studio incorporates some elements of horror and old Hollywood lore to create an outstanding treat for the eyes. Cal and Liam also discuss another masterful score from the legendary Shirley Walker and a small but powerful voice cast that leans heavily on Batman and Alfred working on the main investigation and yet another great episode title card.
