Burly Men With Powers The last decade has seen many changes in mainstream media, but possibly the most surprising has been the massive rise in popularity of superheroes - thanks in no small part to the MCU, the DCEU, and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. What’s interesting though, is that superheroes have always been popular in animation. From Western cartoons like X-Men, Justice League Unlimited, Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, to anime titles like Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Casshern, One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia.  So how do superheroes fit into the modern animated landscape, and what actually counts as a superhero when it comes to anime? Somewhere Over The Redub Subs versus dubs.  It’s the oldest continuing debate in anime, and with a variety of arguments for and against one or the other, it doesn’t look like ending any time soon. Those Goofy Cave People On this episode of Keyframe, Tucky and Producer Rob attempt to unpick the Academy’s “For Your Consideration” list of animated feature films that are in the running to receive a nomination for an Oscar.
