Admit One Movies

Off we go again with Wiltshire's favourite film-reviewing duo(1) on another whip-crack tour of the world of Cine. Simon's six-inch movie reviews take in Jodie Foster's Money Monster and the gritty crime thriller Triple-9, while Mat feels unclean as he relives Sausage Party. Along the way our heroes get distracted by True Detective, casually introduce the Michael Caine classic Zulu to the DVD shelf of Truth and Justice and Simon sort of reviews the Studio Tour at Universal Studios, Hollywood. (1) Probably not actually true.

After a short break, Simon and Mat return to the podwaves and they've seen a lot. Mat tells us all about Bryan Cranston's latest, The Infiltrator, Simon reviews Whit Stillman's Love and Friendship and the pair of them orgasm over Hell or High Water. Not many jokes, but Simon does throw in a late one-minute pitch for Lilo and Stitch to go on the DVD shelf.

Simon and Mat have been neglecting the DVD Shelf of Truth and Justice. It looks a little bare and they both feel that they are letting the audience down, seeing as wet Sunday afternoons are definitely on their way. So, without further ado, a brief competition ensues. Find out whether or not Meet the Millers, Blade Runner, American Psycho, The Fifth Element, Tombstone or Edge of Tomorrow get the one-minute thumbs up!

Thanks to some brilliant work in post production, Simon's microphone is almost entirely absent for this one. That's probably a good thing. Anyway there's plenty to talk about and the boys say a loving good bye to Gene Wilder, and review War Dogs and David Brent: Life on the Road. Mat is annoyed, angry even. He's seen Suicide Squad and he hates it.Not just a bit non-plussed, he's so angry he can't even creatively swear. Not even viewing Finding Dory can soothe his fevered brow. Simon tries to cheer him up.

Simon and Mat are happy, happy boys, they just want to spread the love. The lovely Zootropolis gets Simon's vote, then the pair of them celebrate the simply fun of Star Trek in a total love fest of hugs and kittens and all sorts of lovely stuff...

Simon and Mat are both drunk, and emotional, and over time yet again. The boys consider why they actually like this going to the movies thing, what got them started, their love of movies makers, and some bad behaviour. Legend of Tarzan, Highlander, Jaws, and Deadpool makes it into the DVD Shelf of Truth and Justice.

Mat has a grumble about smoking in the movies, Simon praises Reese Witherspoon, the boys review Ghostbusters and Now You See Me 2, and they get shockingly close to the half hour running time.

Normal service as Simon and Mat waffle on for far too long again. Never mind, they cast their eyes over The Nice Guys, Independence Day: Resurgence and Gods of Egypt. Simon is made to feel old again, Mat explains how there are going to be multiple Spidermans (Spidermen?) and Simon introduces Mat to the acting talents of, ahem, Nicky Campbell...

A noisy pub sees a diversion into what makes a sport, the pair of them fret (a bit) about Rogue One reshoots, the pair of them despair about Johnny Depp. Mat reviews X-men:Apocalypse, Simon reviews Our Kind of Traitor, and Mat tells us everything about Warcraft: The Beginning. 

Minor discussion about the nature of what makes a cat comes out of The Jungle Book, some concern about the intensity of Christian Bale being a good choice of Bagheera or the sanity of another Jungle Book film in production.  Simon reviews Florence Foster Jenkins and Aliens goes onto the DVD Shelf of Truth and Justice.

So Captain America:Civil War has arrived and the boys have a lot to say about the Marvel movie. And we mean a lot.

After some minor technical problems, and a fair amount of alcohol, Simon and Mat decide to try and salvage their first episode... Terminator 2 goes onto the DVD Shelf of Truth and Justice.
