Admit One Movies

Garrgh me harties as the good ship admitone sets sail with Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge. We stay on the beach with a review of Dwayne Johnson and Zac Ephron's Baywatch, examine the curious Colossal with Anne Hathaway and heap yet more praise on Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in the really rather splendid Wonder Woman. All this plus a splat of news, and a look back at the career of James Bond start, and legendary smoothie, Sir Roger Moore.

Descend into myth and legend as Simon and Mat review Guy Ritchie's  King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and Ridley Scott's Alien:Covenant. There's the usual news, comment and will Michael Mann's Manhunter make it onto the DVD Shelf of truth and justice? Download and find out.

After a lengthy hiatus, Admit One return with a lot of news, lots of trailers, and reviews of Sleepless with Jaime Foxx and Michelle Monaghan, and Marvel's latest, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 

Wowsers we disappear for a couple weeks and all hell breaks loose. So the boys are looking at a plethora of trailers including Justice League, Baby Driver, Transformers (again) and some little space movie the internet is excited about. We also discuss the writer's strike, a possible end for the MCU and why you should never nick a scooter when Tom Hardy's around... Reviews of Their Finest, Unforgettable, The Belko Experiment and Fast and the Furious 8.  

Eeek! Michael Bay has some terrible news. Don't worry though as Simon and Mat look at the latest Mummy trailer, discuss some casting rumours, maybe a Mr. Wheedon is thinking about Batgirl while revving up for reviews of controversial manga adaptation Ghost in the Shell and Ben Wheatley's seventies gunpocalypse Free Fire.

We're back with our 30th Episode! Wow, who'd have thought this local movie podcast would have made it that far! The boys have been away for a while, but they're back with a reboot. Discussing Nasty Women, the future of The Matrix, Barbie, Dumbo, Spiderman:Homecoming, and Escape from New York the boys rattle though the news, swiftly add Big Trouble in Little China to the DVD shelf then charge into reviews of Kong:Skull Island, Power Rangers and Get Out. Business as usual then...

  Oscars, eh. There's no way they'll spanner that one up. Hey ho, Simon and Mat take a very brief look at Hollywood's starriest night out, run though as disappointing lack of news as they discuss The Batman, Star Trek: Discovery, Bad Boys for life, and the as yet untitled Han Solo Anthology movie. Four reviews for you this week as the boys look at Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg's Boston Marathon bombing drama, Patriots Day; coming of age drama and Best Picture Oscar winner Moonlight; inspiring historical race drama Hidden Figures; and superhero finale Logan with Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman.

Alert Alert Fake News ahoy as Admit One gets with the times and joins the good ship Alternative Facts. News on Alien:Covenant, the untitled Young Han Solo Anthology Movie (catchy), The Predator, Jay and Silent Bob, the Batman and The Lion King. Reviews of The Lego Batman movie, The Great Wall, John Wick Chapter 2 and 50 Shades Darker. Maybe.

Sing, Trainspotting 2 and Hacksaw Ridge get reviewed as Simon and Mat embark on a two week epic. We discuss future plans for John Wick, the loss of Miguel Ferrer, John Hurt and Richard Hatch and play drunk Operation.

Yee and indeed Hah as Simon and Mat howl through a show chock full of stuff before the guest blues guitarist starts his set. In a thoroughly packed hour we discuss the Oscar nominations and celebrate the cruelty of the Razzies. Then it's off and away with four, yes four, movie reviews. Simon weighs in on XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and the pair discuss Kate Beckinsale's fifth vampire sequel Underworld: Blood Wars. Mat tells us all about M. Night Shalayman's Split with James McAvoy and Simon eulogises over La La Land. It's a coming of age as AdmitOne turns 25 episodes young. The boys discuss some Han Solo spin off news, a look at the Golden Globes and a bizarre review of a film neither of them have seen, Collateral Beauty. After a guilty restock of beer, we get down to it with Reviews of Affleck Senior's gangster thriller Live By Night with Chris Cooper and Zoe Saldana; Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver bring Christianity to 16th century Japan in Martin Scorcese's Silence, and Affleck Junior stars alongside Lucas Hedges and Michelle Williams in Manchester by the Sea. We've only been going six months, but sod it, let's review the year! The 2016 Movie Christmas dinner is served. A yummy roast potato is Mat's review of Office Christmas Party with Jennifer Anniston and Jason Bateman. The stuffing balls are Simon's spin through the many, many celebrity deaths of 2017 (but not Kirk Douglas). The boys tear through which films you really should be watching on TV this Christmas to provide you with some delicious carrots and parsnips, then there's a moist golden delicious slice of turkey as the boys choose their top three films of the year and a spoonful of sprouts as they also choose their three worst.... This Christmas special should have been released next week, but then we realised we screwed up the christmas films list. Hey ho! Thanks for listening to us for the past six months. Finally Rogue One gets the Admit One treatment as Simon and Mat review the latest Star Wars film. Before the main event they pay tribute to Zsa Zsa Gabor, take a look at trailers for Trainspotting 2, Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049, John Wick Chapter 2, Snatched, and the new movie from Zach Braff, Out with Style with detours into 80's action movies, the humour of Sandi Toksvig, ignore our own instructions to list the films to watch over Christmas (that's in the Xmas Special) and Mat struggles with the fact that Batman is boring....

Twas the week before Christmas ... and Simon and Mat are back in the pub doing what they do moderately well with a bumper edition of Admit One Movies packed with comment and attitude. In this episode the boys raise glass to Kirk Douglas not being dead, discuss the Golden Globe nominations, moan about the long-running Passengers trailer and the short running Silence trailer, love Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 trailer, discuss The Mummy trailer and the wider Universal Monsters franchise, puzzle over Baywatch, puzzle further over The Fate of the Furious and further still over XXX: The return of Xander Cage and the phenomenon of trailers for trailers while considering Spiderman: Homecoming. Reviews of Sully, Moana and Allied round out a very full show.

Join us in forgetting actor Dan Fogler as Simon attempts to review "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" despite Mat and James' best efforts. There's a lot of new stories including discussions of whether Emilia Clarke can act, yet another actor playing two face and a discussion on the similarities between "Gone Girl" and "Girl on a Train" (and it is not just that they have Girl in the title). Amma Assante's "A United Kingdom", with Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo, is also reviewed, the bug in OSX rears it's ugly head again, the bar staff turn up the Christmas tunes, there's some distracting snogging and there are many many hidden edits. Business as usual then...

Focus? Precise? Clearly a Jedi craves not these things as Simon and Mat head off on a largely unfocussed ramble that takes in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Monsters, Rogue One, badly named sequels and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Amazingly they only manage to review The Magnificent Seven and the inspired animated lunacy that is Batman:Return of the Caped Crusaders.

Clickety Clack clickety clack, it's a hum drum day in AdmitOne land where commuting is miserable and there is no room for silliness. Join the 4:15 to Dungness where Simon and Mat look around at their fellow commuters and discuss The Girl on the Train.
