This week Andrew Pauls shares from the book of Nehemiah about rebuilding and dedicating the wall around Jerusalem.  The joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar as their sense of God’s presence was restored.  Through communion we also celebrate the symbol of our restoration with God.  With joy we celebrate our coming into His presence.

Red Letter Jesus: Because we know that there is no threat of condemnation once we are in Christ, we can be free to be vulnerable and authentic in addressing the concealed sins of the heart.

Jesus came to do something that we were incapable of doing…meeting God’s holy requirements for the atonement of our sinful rebellion. In fulfilling the Law for us, he gave us the privilege of right standing with God simply through faith in His work on our behalf. What a freeing reality!

Jesus’ Words Reveal That Individual Rights are not Necessary in the Kingdom Our culture is consumed with individual rights and their preservation. Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard indicates that the Kingdom is quite different in this regard.

John Patterson shares about Paul’s transformation when he met Jesus.  Jesus is more than enough, all that we need.

Jesus’ Words Reveal Greatness in the Kingdom of God The disciples were caught up with wanting to have status in the Kingdom of God and asked Jesus, “Who will be greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”. Jesus’ answer was quite a surprise.

This week Andrew Pauls shares about our experience of growing in Him.  There is no perfection in us but we are being made holy.

Is there a minimum requirement that many meet in order to become a citizen in God’s Kingdom? Jesus’ words indicate that the entrance is narrow and few qualify.

The world’s view of Jesus doesn’t include exclusion, but His teaching is clear that everyone is not welcome in His coming Kingdom. Those who refuse to humble themselves will experience a very different eternity.

Tim reminds us that hours before his arrest, Jesus washed the disciple’s feet.  It is a humbling thing to receive a gift of grace.  We come to Jesus because we need cleansing.  He has extended life, righteousness and forgiveness to us. 

So much of what Jesus taught was about the Kingdom of Heaven (or God). This should come as no surprise as His very reason for incarnating was to enable and initiate the transition of our reality from this world to the next.

This Thanksgiving Sunday Paul Stevenson shares from Jesus’ teachings.  We are torn between prayer and possessions, between service and selfishness, between worship and worry.  We are pulled by our relationship with God and with the world.  We are challenged to examine where our treasure is, there our heart is also. 

Andrew Pauls shares about good and bad habits.  God calls us to walk with Him and commit ourselves to Him daily.

Paul Stevenson shares Jesus’ words about relationships.  He calls us to a much higher standard than “an eye for an eye”.  Instead He teaches us to “turn the other cheek”, to love our enemies, and to be a servant.

It is easy in our age of skepticism to question the credibility of scripture. Jesus regularly referenced scripture in His response to questions and in His teaching. Because He is the Word, we know that we can rely on Him for life-giving truth.

This week, in preparation for communion John Patterson shares from the gospel that Jesus is the Messiah.  He needed to die and be raised from the dead so that we could have eternal life.

Hebrews 13:17 is a call to submit to the leaders of the church. This call seems out of step with a culture that is cynical about leaders and hostile to the concept of submission…and yet God calls us to submit to 5 sanctioned authorities.
