I Want You To Watch This

Craig, Cullen and Tara close out 2018 strong with one of the best animated movies and possibly the best Spider-Man movie to-date! We talk convoluted timelines and Tara gives us some professional insight into animation techniques. We also discuss representation in media and the cultural significance of an Afro-Latino hero claiming the spotlight in a comic book movie. Since it's the end of the year we also give our top 5 movies for the year and each host gives their top 5 in a category of their choice. Cullen chooses his favorite podcast episodes of the year, Craig picks his favorite comics, and Tara cheats a little bit by pairing each of her top 2018 movies with a film from 1918!

Craig and Cullen are joined by our new host Tara and we dive right into the Coen Brothers' latest venture, a Netflix Original movie served up as a series of six vignettes. We talk Western tropes, representation of indigenous peoples and women and try to figure out if this ironic take on the classic genre successfully satirizes the archetypes it portrays or just puts an aesthetically pleasing facade on familiar stereotypes.

After their mother is incarcerated following a breakdown, Deidra and Laney concoct a plan to rob trains to keep a roof over their heads and take care of their little brother, Jet. Craig brings this Netflix Orginal dramedy to the pod. And we bid bon voyage to Dennis as host as he takes some time to work on personal projects.
