Travel Wisdom Podcast -travel And Learn Languages For Success And Money

Informações:

Sinopse

Can travel be more than just a fun thing to do? Could it also provide some benefit and learning experiences later in life? I have always thought this and this is why I have relentlessly travelled the world and now have been to over 80 countries. I have always thought that I was planting the seeds of wisdom while in faraway lands. Through experiences with foreign people, cultures, concepts, and ways of doing things I learned much more than anything I could've done while at home. I interview amazing guests, bestselling authors, scientists, successful business people, dating experts, travel junkies, polyglots (people who speak more than 3 languages), and anybody who I think is interesting for the growth of our listeners and I as people. I think by doing this we can plant the seeds of wisdom which will ultimately lead to our success in career, business, money, relationships, self-worth, and generally being a more well-rounded person. But it requires you to be active making this happen. What do you think?

    15/11/2017 Duração: 01h24min

In this last of the series of recordings I have with Mike Bown, the most travelled man in the world. We recorded this in a bar during a storm but it was really interesting so I wanted to publish it. This wide-ranging conversation goes over things such as the Google monopoly, capitalism and feudal society, my theories about phrenology, why US slavery wasn't so bad, and the sacred view of rule of law.

He has now grown it to a network of people helping each other out when people move to a new country. Many times when you move away from your family and friends you need a new support network that can help with small things like how to get a doctor visit in the language that you speak. Peter put this network together which has a global reach and now reaches about 4 million people!

  • Mike talks about how interesting people are found travelling in crazy countries

    11/10/2017 Duração: 43min

When I met Mike in Ukraine in September I was able to record only a few hours out of our 50+ hours of philosophical discussions. This was the first of those. We talk about many things with someone I consider to be the top 5 most intelligent people I have come across (that includes baby Jesus!!).  We talk about how when you are in the more interesting places you often meet very interesting people you would have no chance of meeting at home. Travel can act as a filter for interestingness

  • Killing yourself in the weirdest way possible, and have adventures along the way with Chase Boehringer

    27/09/2017 Duração: 42min

Ok, so Chase totally doesn't condone this but he was talking about how he was in a low point in his life and decided to do risky things as a subconcious way to commit suicide. He learned to love life in the process and is now very happy. But I had to laugh when I imagined the most crazy way to kill yourself. I came up with attacking a hippo in Kenya holding an inflatable balloon and singing the Pokemon theme song. What can you come up with? In this episode we talk about how to create your own life and to come back from depression using adventure and to create a Bucketlist lifestyle.

  • Wisdom talks on death of tradition with Mike Bown, most travelled man

    06/09/2017 Duração: 01h38min

TRIGGER WARNING! If you are sensitive or do not want to hear viewpoints which you may not like then do not listen to this episode! We take a very objective look at many topics related to the topic of the death of tradition: failures of native cultures, the death of homosexuality, and the death of travel.   We look at what has been happening with an objective viewpoint, we do not have a dog in this fight and have nothing to prove. I find it interesting because I have not heard this kind of reasoning and its refreshing to hear something that's banned in mainstream media. I like to say that half of what we know is untrue. I expect some of what Mike says will be truer than the stuff you thought you knew and half of what he says is untrue or only has a kernel of truth

  • The Fundamentals of Female Dynamics (and with all people) in travel with Michael Knight

    23/08/2017 Duração: 54min

Michael and I met in Ukraine last year and really hit it off. We had so much in common but one of our common interests was learning dating skills (interpersonal skills). He actually used to run boot camps to nerds and other technical people on how to be able to talk to girls. In just a few days awkward men can go from never having touched a girl to getting their phone number or even getting a girlfriend! Michael wrote a book, Fundamentals of Female Dynamics where he talks about how to improve your social skills with anyone, not just girls! Being outcome independent, not being needy with things going a certain way is one of the key tips.

  • Another language episode! Richard DeLong learned Slovak and lives in Georgia

    07/08/2017 Duração: 54min

Anybody who learned the Slovak language is fine by me! I was shocked when I heard Richard DeLong on another show, Actual Fluency, because nobody learns Slovak! A hard language with a small population. I had Richard DeLong on because he had interesting ways to learn a language. He talks about focusing on the small wins and get those to perfection. So instead of always learning new things get the things you mostly know up to fluency. That is the best way to get to fluency.

  • Success and Luck, what roles do they play in your life? With Robert Frank

    26/07/2017 Duração: 50min

Robert Frank almost died on a racquetball court when his heart stopped beating. 99% of people die from this particular disease. Robert was almost a part of that were it not for the ambulance a few hundred meters away which had been called to this rural location on a false call.  In his excellent book, Sucess and Luck, Robert talks about how we perceive these two things. Most successful people have a hard time acknowledging the role of luck in their success but it most definitely is there. He explains it with the metaphor of a headwind and a tailwind. When you are going against a headwind you know it and think about it often. However, if you experience a tailwind you quickly forget that you have something helping you. I really enjoyed this interview because I have had many lucky/unlucky breaks as well. It's important to recognise this and to just try as hard as you can knowing luck may be working against you. So just keep trying! Get better! And eventually, luck may be on your side!

  • Charities cause huge damage to people, except maybe Gret Glyer's one

    19/07/2017 Duração: 43min

When Gret asked to come on the show to talk about his charity I warned him that it was not going to be a pleasant interview! After travelling across 17 countries in Africa in 2010 I personally saw the damage that well-intentioned charities had. Rich white people would simply get an idea like: 'I'm going to bring a million T-shirts to Africa' without having any thoughts about what damage that might cause. Imagine what would happen to your city if all the clothing stores suddenly had to shut down because the value of what you sold was gone. Bureaucracy kills the actual implementation of charities which means that somewhere in Africa there is a warehouse full of Tom's shoes just sitting there. Not to mention the corruption that millions of dollars inevitably brings. However, Gret Glyer's DonorSee seems to be a good solution. He adequately addressed all my concerns with charities with this peer to peer donation platform. Aid workers who are already in the country post on the site so people can donate. If the goal

  • Want top companies to fight to hire you? Do what Austin Belcak did!

    12/07/2017 Duração: 01h07min

Austin was very methodical in his job search, he interviewed at 100 companies of which 40 called him back. But he wanted to the best job possible and was clear on his values and his role. So it took him a year to find the best job but in the end he had many companies like Google, Uber, Facebook and other tech companies fighting for him until he finally got hired at Microsoft. He did this by finding the role that he wanted within the company and contacting the supervisor for that role in the target company. Then he would have an informational interview with them before coming back and providing value in the form of problems he could solve for them. The people were usually blown away by his effort and would call him in for an interview or try to hire him right there!! So if you're looking for the perfect job, listen to this episode and find out how Austin did it! https://cultivatedculture.com/
