The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were lamenting the death of their Master. Their walk to Emmaus began with despair, confusion, grief and hopelessness. But then they had an encounter with the Risen Lord, who explained to them the Christ woven throughout all the scriptures from Moses through the prophets. Our personal journeys begin in that way until we encounter Jesus. We all are without hope until we know Christ. We all have struggles as we walk through life. What is your road to Emmaus?

"O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Pastor Steven preaches Resurrection Sunday at Countryside United Methodist Church in Splendora, Texas.

9 Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

We spend a lot of time in this life building up resumes. Before Christ enters our lives many things seem important to us. But after we know Christ, those things become like so much rubbish. Everything we once held dear, we count it all as loss. Pastor Steven discusses Philippians 3.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Pastor Steven preaches a message of new life and new beginnings found in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians.

Pastor Steven discusses 2 Samuel - the story of King David's terrible transgressions and his journey to redemption through a broken and contrite heart.

This week we take a look within and examine our hearts. Are we worshiping Him in spirit and in truth? Pastor Steven explores the 13th Chapter of Luke.

We are all in exile in Babylon until we accept our Deliverer. Trusting in God, confessing our sins and repenting is the first step on the road back to Jerusalem.

An encounter with the glory of the living Christ is indeed a mountaintop experience. Many of us experience those Christ-moments in the worship setting at church on Sunday. Those experiences can be so powerfully moving that we never want them to stop; we want to stay right there on the mountaintop and bask in the glory of our Lord. But, we cannot stay on the mountaintop. We are called to carry the reflection of Christ's glory back down the mountain into the deep, dark valley so that Christ's light can illuminate the upward path for others.

"I am here to 'Proclaim the Year of the Lord’s Favor!'" That's what Jesus told the hometown crowd in the synagogue in Nazareth. What did He mean by that? How did the hometown crowd receive his message? Why does it matter 2,000+ years later? Pastor Steven discusses Luke 4:14-21.

The Miracle at the Wedding in Cana was not the public revelation to the world that we typically think it to be. No, the turning of the water into wine was only witnessed by a few, Mary, the six brand new disciples, and the servants who dipped the wine out of the large stone pots. Of those few that witnessed it, it was the disciples for whom the miracle was meant. Seeing it, they believed, and believing they followed and changed the world.

The Baptism of Our Lord is more than a landmark event in the life of the Church and in history. With the words of the Father to His Son, Jesus, "You are my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." the affirmation and the approval of our heavenly Father is imparted to every believer, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ.

The Advent of the Messiah into the world of humanity was the start of something completely new. Sinful humanity suddenly had a new hope, an opportunity for a new heart, and a reason to sing a new song.

Pastor Steven continues his Advent series in the Gospel of Luke.

We are to be a voice crying out in the wilderness, calling people to repentance and making ready for the arrival of our King. In this Advent message, Pastor Steven explores the Gospel according to Luke Chapter 3.

Advent is a season of expectation and hope. In the excitement of preparing for the Christmas celebration, which seems to come all too quickly, we sometimes miss the signs of His impending arrival. In his message, "Shining Stars and Foil Cards," Pastor Steven encourages us to take time to look for the signs of the advent of Christ, remembering that the purpose of the first coming of the babe in the manger was to prepare the way for the second coming of Christ the King!
