Ezekiel 37:1-14. Death is all around us, a fixture in our world. Lent provides a way of escape from death. We don't stop there, but continue to follow Jesus into resurrection into new life.

1 Samuel 16:1-13. The story of David's anointing as the new king of Israel shows us what it means to be a people of lent. It is not about what we do, or what we give up. It is all about our heart towards God, and God's love towards us.

Romans 5:1-5. Paul was writing to a group of believers that were facing very serious trials and problems. And yet, he reminds them of the privilege we have to face God with confidence, peace and joy. Lent offers us the opportunity to consider God's words about us and our church. Can we believe Him?

Genesis 12:1-4. Abram was presented with a huge choice, one that was very personal, but would also be profound for the history of the world. To receive God's promise, we must walk on God's pathway. But we are given the promise of protection, even if we don't know where it leads.

Genesis 2,3; Matthew 4. On this first Sunday of Lent, we go back to the beginning and see why we need it. It is not merely about fasting and physical denial, but it is about placing our focus and our trust in the heavenly Father and His instructions. How did Jesus handle the same test in the wilderness?

Psalm 17. What does it mean to be following and walking with the Lord? The giving of the covenant was the promise of God's accompanying Presence. The commands of God is compared to the pathways of God. And paths describe movement forward in a specific direction. They are safe paths, well worn down by the Lord Himself.

Matthew 5:17-20. In Jesus' day, there were some who were afraid He came to destroy the foundations of the law. Others, were hoping He would. Jesus disappoints both sides with an interesting statement, that he came to fulfill the law and the prophets. How does He do this, and what does it mean for us?

Matthew 5:14-16. Jesus told his disciples that they were the light of the world. This is much more than a job description; it is actually a statement of identity in Christ. How does the nature of light illuminate this truth to us? Is it the opposite to what most of us have understood?

Matthew 5:13. When Jesus told his disciples that they were the salt of the earth, he wasn't saying they were a bunch of good guys. Jesus was calling them to a life of holiness, to preserve the image of God in them and enhance life in society, the way God planned it to be.

Exodus 34. We see the transformation of a group of slaves into a nation. God is teaching them how to be a people. This dialogue between Moses and God give us insight into how we are to conduct ourselves as people of faith, and in community with one another.

Isaiah 42:1-9. With the first of four "Servant Songs", the prophet offered God's exiled people a glimpse of His Choice servant who He was sending to bring salvation. However, this Servant will not sound like, or act like how they expect a liberator to be. Nor would they be the only ones saved.

Ephesians 1:3-11. With every new year, our thoughts naturally turn to goals, plans and success. But what is success? How is it measured? The Apostle Paul offers a little different definition of success that still stands true today if we dare to adopt it as ours.

We combined elements of worship, scripture, prayer and testimony to reflect and give thanks for the year that has passed, and consider the year to come with hope and commitment.

Matthew 2. The wise men from the East took a huge risk packing up their lives, families to take a trek across the known world to follow an unusual astronomical phenomenon. Did this mystery get solved? Probably not, but what they discovered is a great example to us of the power of faith.

Isaiah 2:1-5. This Sunday marks the first in the Church calendar. Advent is the season of preparation and anticipation of the arrival of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel message is a message of the Light that shines in the darkness. Isaiah sees a vision of a light of promise. (1/3)

Lamentations 3:22-24. The book of Lamentations is a collection of poetic writings mourning of the loss of the beloved city Jerusalem. It describes a moment frozen in time. We find ourselves stuck in these moments at times. We see how Jeremiah finds hope when you can't find your way out.

2 Corinthians 12:1-10. As people of faith in Christ, we often live lives of contradiction. There are times of glory, and there are times of suffering. We experience seasons of both. In a moment of honesty, Paul describes the contradiction in his own life and how he is able to deal with it.
