Bible In The News

The world is shocked, and many disappointed, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been re-elected despite attempts to discredit him in the media. Israel is moving away from a two state solution a viable reality, ensuring Jerusalem remains the undivided capital, and Judea and Samaria are settled with God's people, in accordance with the word of God.

As the March 2015 National Geographic Magazine portrays people who do not accept Evolution as conspiracy theorists, we take a look at what the media does not admit about Evolution; that the truth behind the doctrines of Evolution actually require faith to believe in and are based on assumption.

In the mountainous region to the north of Jerusalem, on the “Way of the Forefathers”, lies the ancient ruins of the Biblical city of Shiloh, where once the tabernacle stood when the Israelites first entered the land. Today, on the hill above the ancient ruins, is the modern Jewish community of Shiloh.

This week Israel opened river dams in the south of the country, causing flooding in the Gaza strip, according to the Mail Online. The piece continued “Hundreds of Palestinians left homeless by heavy flooding after water levels in Gaza Valley rise by up to 10 feet”.  Al Jazeera reported “Gazans flee floods caused by Israel’s dams opening”, and AFP “Gaza village flooded as Israel opens dam gates”.  Russia Today, AFP, PressTV and other news sites carried similar reports and weighed in with their condemnation of Israel.  Furthermore, the Mail Online added that “The flooding was today compounded after an Israeli power company cut electricity to two of Gaza’s major West Bank cities” while Al Jazeera reminded us that “Floods in Gaza Strip exacerbate humanitarian crisis” resulting from last summer’s war.

From a Christadelphian newspaper called "The Bible Light-stand", published on April 25, 1885As Russian bombers taunt Britain by flying on the edges of U.K. airspace, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has warned of the dangers being posed to Britain and the former Soviet satellites in the Baltics. These events sent us digging into our archives where we came across an old Christadelphian newspaper called "The Bible Light-stand" which was published on April 25, 1885 and had an article with the headline: "An Anglo-Russian War Foretold in the Bible." The article was a report upon a lecture that had been given in Swansea (South Wales).

The ancient nation of Tarshish is identified by scripture as being friendly to Israel in the time of the end. The Biblical text identifies both a western and an eastern Tarshish. India is identified with the East as is seen to be strengthening its ties with Israel after years of cold relations.

This week has seen outrage across the Middle East as the terrorist group ISIS burn alive a muslim Jordanian pilot. Israel were one of the nations to express sympathy. This week we examine what the Bible says about Jordan and it’s role in the latter days just before Christ returns to the earth. More terror beheadings from ISIS. The Muslim terror group Hezbollah fires anti-tank missiles across the border into Israel killing two soldiers and wounding others. Recently terror perpetrated by Muslims struck the centre of the French capital Paris, the Jewish community was a prime target. Welcome to The Bible in the News, this is David Billington with you.

President Obama delivered his annual State of the Union address full of pride and bluster as he poked at Russia and claimed victory of ISIS and Iran. The Russian Empire struck back with by forging closer ties with Iran and Syria. Obama has pitted a war with Congress by threatening to veto any sanctions on Iran and Congress struck back by inviting Netanyahu to address the Congress. Israel and the Bible dominates the world news at the beginning of 2015.

This week we consider the events of the massacre in Paris that left 14 people dead, and how that it exposes the rise in anti-semitism.

Analysts worry the West's attempts at declawing the Russian bear may provoke an angry response, the Bible clearly indicates Russia's future actions.

Another gentile year has come and gone and the Lord Jesus Christ has not yet returned. During 2014 it certainly feels like world events that connect to Bible Prophecy have intensified and at the end of the year geopolitics have been left in a state of unease and tenseness. The signs of the times are slowly coming into focus and give us indications like never before that soon the Lord will be here. This is Matt Davies joining you for the Bible in the news. 

This year (September 2014 to September 2015) is Israel’s shmita; the year when many Jewish farmers allow their land to lie fallow, in obedience to the commandment in the Law of Moses. 

For this week's Bible in the News there are three special presentations on Bible prophecy from the Brantford prophecy day in November 2014. The studies covered events in Europe, Russia and the Middle East.

On Tuesday the 25th of November an historic moment occurred in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Pope Francis addressed the leaders of Europe displaying the power and influence the Catholic church has at the heart of Europe. This is Matt Davies joining you for another Bible in the News.

We have seen a gruesome wave of terror attacks in Israel, including the most recent one where Jews were attacked, and several killed while praying in a synagogue.  Many things are going on in the world this week, not the least of which is the aggressive stance Russia is taking in the world, while Europe becomes more anti-Semitic.  Events lining up for that great battle of God Almighty. The Bible requires Israel to be in a state of unprecedented peace before this happens.

In the last few days the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS has again been in the news with new militants flocking to it's banner and the USA and it's allies inflicting air strikes upon it. This week we take a look at ISIS in the light of Bible prophecy to see if there is any indication of its role in the latter days.

Hello, this is Paul Billington speaking with you from Ontario, Canada.  Our news topic this week is that of Evolution, Creation, the authority of the Bible, versus that of the Pope!  This has been widely discussed during the past week as commentators  have tried to decide just what, exactly, the pope and his Vatican believe on the subject.

The Tarshish powers are constantly being brought back into the conflict in the Middle East because the finger of God has indicated a course to be pursued by Britain and her young lions which cannot be evaded. 

The world is on the brink of crisis. One only has to look at the situation in the Middle East with the rise of ISIS and the gathering of the nations for war, to see how volatile and finely balanced things are. Many consider current events as depressing, but as Christadelphians and Bible students we look into the mess the world is in and gain great encouragement as we see many signs that Jesus is soon to return to bring about an era of peace, tranquility and righteousness.
